The reason of having this title because the routing of this trip is quite the same as my previous trip in last August: HKG,MFM,TPE,SIN,BKK In CX C And BR Y (201 Pic)

Reason for the trip
Haven’t fly for almost 6 months, it is time to relax for some days. While searching for where should I go, I found that EVA Air was using MD-90 for TPE-HKG route from April 2010 on some days, as a Hong Konger, there are not much chance to the MD flights, so it is golden opportunity to give it a try!

Actually I have tried the MD-82 from China Southern 2 years before, it is good to compare these two products from McDonnell Douglas.

Day of departure
Taking ferry from my home to Tung Chung and change the shuttle bus to the airport, 40 minutes later, I arrived HKIA, the check-in counters were all opened but nobody is check-in. Check-in was easy and I reconfirm the flight was still operate by MD-90, I asked if I can the last row. The agent said it was blocked for groups but after a call, I got the seat 34K. After thanks the help from the check-in agent, I was airside 5 minutes later.

First, I saw a A340-600 from South African

Hi Sutrakhk,

very interesting report, probably the first one about BR's MD-90.

Yes, certain seats should be avoided on the MD-90. I learnt that on a Blue1 flight two years ago.

That doesn't look very tasty...how was the salad?

Interesting. How long is the journey on the train?

Luckily the flight wasn't full and I can see BR normally blocked 32ABC, 33HK, 34HK if the flight is not full

The rice was actually better than the sector HKG-TPE, if you like chinese food I think it is OK to eat.

Actually it is not salad I think. It is something like carrots and fishball in soy source (Japanese Style)

Interesting. How long is the journey on the train?

The shuttle bus take 15 minutes and the High Speed Train take appox. 24 mins from Taoyuan Station to Taipei Station

Normally people would take the airport bus to the taipei city (normally 60-80 mins) because it is cheaper, but I found that if I need not to wait for the train more than 15 minutes, I can arrive the city within 50 minutes, but more important, less afftected by the busy traffic in the city.

Hi Sutrakhk,

Nice report and loved the detailed pictures of the MD-90 cabin, very nice indeed!

Good to see the MD-90 on this route, usually served by bigger equipment.

Food looks pretty decent for such a short flight.

Hey Sutrakhk, liking this TR on the MD-90. I have yet to fly this aircraft before so you have definitely opened my eyes to using BR. Is it me or is the seating very odd with the toilet in the middle or was that a small side galley?

Food looked nice for a short flight and also quite sneaky to put their Duty-Free add on the juice boxes as well!

MD-90 was rare for HKG-TPE, I think the load was quite low these days so that they put the smaller MD-90 here, once the load is back, I believe we would see all flights would operate by wide-body.

Food was better if compare with CX's sandwishes

The Economy Galley is at the rear left before Row 32, and the toilets are at the rear end

Duty-Free is one of their important income, especially for HKG-TPE and MFM-TPE route, they started sell Duty-Free while boarding

Er.......If Airbus is not available, Buses(especially those from UK) can help me for a while Big grin
