We were on our way to our next stop, Bangkok ! I picked the cheapest ticket which was on ET and decided to upgrade at the airport and paid the 100USD in cash to upgrade to Business Class.
Check-in was separated with Bangkok bound pax on one side, short queue and Addis Ababa bound passengers on the other side and HUGE queue and TONS of bags.
Passengers were trying to get away from paying the fees due to overweight bags to no avail, the CX ground staff was very strict.

After checking in we went through immigration and did some shopping.

Shanghai Tang with loads of really nice stuff

We went to the lounge which was packed with ET and LY pax and suprinsigly enough LY pilots eating in the lounge and the ET cabin crew too...
We left the lounge early as there was too many people and the internet connexion was really bad !
At the gate, CX staff toured the area to hold check the cabin bags that were too big or heavy and there was plenty !

Our gate, ready for boarding

As you can see the legroom is amazing but the seats are from another century, maybe another millenium actually...
Loads were really light in Business Class with only 5 of us.

Dinner started soon enough. Starter was good but the main course wasn't nice at all, very basic, bland.

Landed on time and we were both pleased to be back in Thailand !

Here are a few pictures of Bangkok.

Can't do any of those in the taxi... no fun...

The series of reports has been fantastic thus far. Hopefully there are some more to come. I was surprised to see the excellent quality which was onboard ET's business class for a short hop from HKG to BKK. Looked well worth the upgrade, except for that seat (yikes!).

Thanks for your comments ! There are more reports to come. Our routing went as such : PPT-AKL-SYD-HKG-BKK-HKT-SIN-SYD-AKL-PPT. Right now I did the reports for PPT-AKL-SYD-HKG-BKK-HKT.

Ethiopian was OK, the seats were from another generation all together, it was good that the legroom was huge tho.

Hi AF Cabin Crew,

Great insight review of ET's J offering from HKG to BKK. It seemed worth the upgrade. Which lounge deos ET use in HKG?

Way to go, CX!

It looks brilliant. Does the Executive breakfast offering include Thai option as well?

Good to see people getting back in business in BKK. Lovely city pictures! It brings back the memories of traveling through BKK.

Kòp-kuun khaap!

Cheers,
Suryo

Tres interessant comme rapport.
La qualite des photos est fantastique. Felicitaions
J'ai aussi lu votre rapport sur BKK-HKT ou j'ai doublelemnt apprecie the lounge for economy class, we could see a very light version at LH departure gates in FRA (hot beverages free) et the light snack on the flight
Mais alors les sieges "Business class"sur ET me rappelle les sieges des Boeing 720 de La Middle East Airlines dans les annees 70 , les first etaitent bien plus larges et bien plus confortables

- Yikes, those seats look ancient but indeed and perhaps most important, legroom looks excellent!

Starter looks ok but indeed your main looked pretty poor, and what's with all the boiled potatoes? - no imagination went into this for sure.

Mark

Hi AF cabin crew,

the whole itinerary looks amazing as the great compilation of Airlines, after ATN, EK, here is ET which is your second 5th freedom isn't it?

Perfect description, though, for a domestic flight it would have been maybe ok, but imagine for the pax continueing onto ADD and on full price.

BTW the food makes up the hard product.

Merci beaucoup pour ce court mais complet compte rendu de voyage, et attends avec impatience celui de Bangkok Airways... (en business)?

regards

Nice report on a more unsual carrier that's not usually featured here. Nice pictures. Seats seem very old but I guess ET will have much better seats on their new 77Ls and 787s.
