Just returned from the UK and thought I'd post a bit about the trip.
ATL-LGW on a DL MD11. OK flight, but the MD really doesn't impress me. Spent some time walking around Gatwick. Lots of good shops and easy access to London via the Gatwick Express.
2 days later, took a British Airways 737-400(I think it was a 400) to MAN. About a 50 min flight and they served a full, hot british breakfest. Very impressed. It was very windy on the approach and I thought my final view of MAN would be from under the runway! MAN airport is quite nice. 3 terminals and lots of construction going on. There is an outdoor viewing area on top of a building that provides a very good view. Even has a small shop up there selling airplane stuff.
The flight home was on a Delta 777. NICE! What a wonderful flight. good meal service and a great IFE system. DL seems to do pretty good with the MAN-ATL flights. Economy was almost full and B/C had about 10 seats open.
Anyway, MAN beat my expectations and I would recommend a trip there and hope to return again soon.
