Here is my first shot at a trip report, let me know how it comes out.

Showed up at the airport with my family at 5:45 for my 6:55 departure to Fort Myers. Even at that hour, the drop-off was messy; it took us 15 minutes to get from the ramp to Terminal C to the skycap desk. No big deal. It was still dark out, which did not afford many spotting opportunities, but that wasn't a problem since the airport was empty. We skycapped the luggage and got our boarding passes. Departure was out of gate 103. We were early for the flight, so my daughter and son found a seat with their mom and dozed off while Dad took a walk around the terminal. Concourse C-2 is undergoing some work in the entrance area, so I peeked through the temporary walls to see their progress. It was looking good. Construction is coming along nicely at C-3, and the wavelike roof design is very pleasing to the eye. I can't wait for it to open. I watched an early shuttle to BOS push back and watched departures on 4L until I heard them call for boarding of flight 263. I quickened my pace going back, and picked up some chewing gum, a newspaper, and a magazine to read during the flight. We got the kids up and boarded when they called for all remaining rows. We settled in to seats 31A,C, D, E but moved up into two separate rows when they shut the cabin door. My kids chose to sit with their mother but my son, Michael, promised to sit next to me sometime during the flight. We taxied out fairly quick, and in the increasing daylight, I could see 2 757s, a 777 (probably the TLV arrival), and a 767-400ER as the sole tenants of Terminal B-2 and B-3. Not for long. Takeoff was extremely smooth and we reached altitude at about 7:35. A breakfast snack of Wheaties cereal, a banana, and a large banana muffin were served along with (of course) a drink. I love CO's muffins, no matter what kind they are, they're fresh and delicious. No surprise this time. The MD-80 was not equipped with the new CO interiors, which disappointed me, but it didn't blow the trip. The seats had the adjustable headrests that I love so much and for once, I didn't feel guilty about reclining my seat because nobody sat behind me. Ahhh! We landed in Fort Myers about 5 minutes early. What a great way to start a vacation!

Got to Fort Myers right on time for this one. We originally were to connect through Cleveland, but the agent informed me that the nonstop to EWR had some empty seats, and gave me the option to take them, for no penalty, an earlier arrival, and the chance to see the entire Giants game. Sold. Row 32 was our assignment, which is the last row on the MD-80. A 2.5 hour flight isn't bad in there though, I've had it worse. We boarded quickly, since by the time we got upstairs, they were wrapping up the boarding process. Similar plane, an MD-82, delivered in 1982. Same interiors, seats and all. I took 32A, hand had 32C to myself since I had some business to take care of. At the gate, I flashed the Gold Elite card to get an upgrade, but to no avail. The plane was almost completely sold out. We took off fast, typical of Fort Myers. Lunch was served, a choice of a large turkey sandwich with carrots and a candy or roast beef with the same things on the side. I finished my work, and before I knew it, we had landed in EWR. Another great flight for me and my family on Continental.
