Welcome to PART IV of this report, continue with PART III, I am heading to PEK for my Iran Air's flight.
In the beginning, I do not have much expectation of this sector because it is just help me to catch another flight, but after booking, I knew that I will on OZ's new Business seats in this sector, I was excited!
Business Class Check-in area for all Asiana Flights
PIDS
There were many people travelling that day, so I passed immigration and security after 25 minutes
After that, take a look of the lounge
The lounge was big, but the furniture was not very clean as i can see some dirty around me
Food offering was not enough, the only hot food was instant noodles!
Seat 6K, missing 1 window
The seat was good, and the width is even more than the old config! Love it!
Seating pitch
Cabin view
Table, firm, large enough!
But the table hinge keep knocking my knee...
Only 1 hour 30 mins to Beijing
Oh.....
Seat control and AVOD control
Fully-flat, I am only 5' 9", but my head and toes touched both ends, but still better than CX's Business Class seat, at least I can find somewhere to put my arms.
Safety Information Card
Asiana this side
After take-off, meal time
Beef in Korean style, not as good as NRT - ICN's leg
Toilet in front of Door L1, there is no toilet at the rear in the business class.
Seems the area at my seat 6K was a toilet. This layout use more areas to fit 24 seats while the old layout can fit 28 seats
Arrived Beijing Capital Airport Terminal 3
Stayed a night at Hilton Hotel PEK, a new hotel opened for about 1 month only
Large room
The bed was good, however the room was too dark at night
View from the room
While thinking the SuperJumbo has been landed at 15:08 (according to the airport's website) on another runway, she appeared at 15:33 with my room service!
This is the end of PART IV, Part V is coming soon!

WoW .... The seats are almost exactly like those of Etihad's Pearl Business Class. I think this is the first time i see these seats replicated with another airline!
Very interesting!
Cheers,

Hi Sutrakhk
Thanks for your series of interesting reports - what a journey you're making! - and especially for this one. I'd been dying to see what the new J on OZ would look like. Looks very nice indeed and as Roni says, it almost identical to EY's J class. It's my favorite configuration and seems like the best way to go in Business class.

Very nice report again with very nice pictures!
The new J seats on OZ looks fantastic!
Food offerings were disappointing in the OZ loung but I think there's a seperate Star Alliance lounge that caters more to non-Koreas.
Hotel in PEK looks great with fantastic views!; How much did you pay for the room ?

So cool! I've always wanted to visit ICN! Since KE is in SkyTeam I'm hoping to someday use my Delta SkyPesos to get a ticket... Even if I do I won't be able to visit the Asiana lounge so thanks for sharing!
That last picture has got to be one of the best I've ever seen on A.net! Nothing like a good meal with a great view!

Very nice! I'm currently reading your whole series of TRs covering your trip to Japan, and I'm very impressed with the variety of airlines you chose to fly - in true a.nutter spirit
OZ's new business class looks great, too. Incidentally, the seats are exactly the same as Alitalia's new Magnifica class (currently only installed on its newest A330-200s). Certainly looks like a very comfortable ride.

Oh really? Where is the Star Alliance lounge? But I don't have much time to explorer the airport that day.
The net room rate was RMB1098 on that day, however I chose the rate with dinner, breakfast and RMB100 drink coupon in the bar, which cost me RMB1450 excl. tax. I would try Langham Place next time to compare

I was excited about this photo too. True luxury ^^

a.nutter spirit -- flying 24 hours to catch another flight? But it is true that I started to love flying after joining airliners.net
I think this config in 777 would be more roomy, A330-200 would be a bit cramp, isn't it?

There is no other star alliance lounge other than OZ in ICN, you must have thought of somewhere else.
The main concourse in ICN only occupied by OZ and KE, hence a OZ lounge, F and C lounge totally separated.
Concourse A is where all other carriers use, but the only lounge there available for *A members is also a OZ lounge.
Years ago it used to have a SQ lounge in the main concourse, it was before Concourse A completed, that lounge has since closed when everyone other than OZ and KE moved to Concourse A.

Wonderful stuff.... the entire series of TR's. Very interesting variety - had you had Hainan it would have been the cherry on top!

This was fantastic. Along with your roomservice. Haha. You seem like a decadent man staying in these lovely places, flying these lovely airlines and living well. I salute you!

Many thanks for all the pics and report.
OZ seats' color look bright and refreshing.
Too bad the tray table is very small so the meal has to be squeezed into small tray!
The tray seen there is about the same size as THAI's Economy class meal tray on the 747-400 galley.
Isn't it the same biz seats on ANA 77W and EK 380? Do they just look slightly different on NH/EK?
Or perhaps other manufacturers?
THAI will be the next copy-cat staggered biz seats on their updated Boeing 747-400 HS-TGY/Z/A/B/F/G.
I'm not so sure how many OZ 777s have been reconfigured with the new staggered seat?
Don't be annoyed knowing the passengers around you are non-revs and op-upgraders, be grateful for them. Life is beautifu

- Perhaps the offering were weak because of time of day? - I'd hope they were better during lunchtime and in the evening.

- Nice view, room service and the A380, impressive! Must remember this hotel next time I find the time to visit.

Excellent report! Does anyone know where OZ is flying the Quadra Smartium seats long-haul? Those look really nice; I assume that the ICN-PEK-ICN turn is just to use the aircraft in between longer flights to Europe, Australia or North America.
