DEP: 22/9/2010
KLM 737 + 777

I booked with Air France to go to Singapore, Out on KLM flights and back on Air France Flights.

OK so the beginning at Manchester went fine, the Check-in queues were long and although it says check-in kiosk is quicker, you still have to join the huge baggage drop queue with every other person checking in. So the only benefit of the kiosk is so that they don't have to print it out, that's it!.

Through security I asked if I can just go through the normal metal detector and she said "that's fine" and so I did, and didn't go off and went on me way.

The KLM Flight in la background

Staff on the 737 were friendly, and one of them at the back was cheerfull.

Wish I had been able to re-book flights from air france to singapore but I wasn't aware of how different the air france or klm flight would be:

KLM 777 seats wide, not so happy cabin crew at the back
AF 777 Seats too Narrow but happy and friendly crew throughout and drinks trolley available all the time

The main thing about a flight is being able to sleep, I had a good sleep on KLM, I thought Air france would be the same but the put an extra length of seating in the middle so then all the seats are too small, everyone elbowing each other and I am 5ft 6 so not that tall either and slim build. I had been on an AF A340 to st martin and their seats were fine so I don't know why they've decided to cut corners on this new 777

I landed in the afternoon and got the train to amsterdam.

Wow! Schiphol looks a lot like Heathrow with the yellow signs, I've never liked them, I remember an airport designer or someone, saying that this black text on yellow makes it easier to read! Oh erm nooo it doesn't, it just looks a bit old, I prefer white on a purple background

Amsterdam was nice, had a hot chocolate in a cafe, one of those special cafe's where the smoke smells a bit different, I don't smoke anything anyway but I prefer the weed smell to the Tobacco as tobacco really hurts my throat sometimes.

She Wet me with the water pistol as I walked in the street so I went in while she was hiding behind them big muscley men in the background and asked what's in it lol, she laughed after posing too.

So back on the train to schiphol and wait there for about 5 hours. Looking for places to eat at the airport Nooo!
Soooo! Soooo! Expensive. Even more than the UK, what on earth...I found one shop that sold a 500ml Apple drink for 1 euro, still that's £1 and expensive to me lol...

After searching for cheap food, I thought burger king was going to be, but at £7 for a meal, I don't think so, especially when their menu on the side wall says £3.

So I settle for some small packet of chips for 2 euro. And last until the 9pm flight so that they could feed me for free instead, and water me down.

Stayed on the terrace for a couple of hours, my 777 parked from about 4pm till 9pm here:

Once on the plane this is where it went bad. infact the previous flight's heating seemed like it was on extra hot, maybe 28 degrees, and this next plane was also way too hot, even the Singaporeans were complaining. It cooled down once up.

so we takeoff, but now we get a bag of peanuts and a drink, but I would have preferred them just to give out the meals with the drinks so that we could get to sleep.

I didn't like the breakfast much as by the time I'd ate 75% it started feeling a bit bland and had to knock back my cup of tea to get it down  http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk174/Firstchoice2008767/DSC_3884-1.jpg

Yep, I like KLM's short haul sandwiches as well. Very tasty

AF 777 Seats too Narrow

KLM's 77W seats are just as narrow. Good thing you had the 772, because twice a week they fly the 77W to SIN.

After searching for cheap food,

The best bet for cheap-ish food at AMS is one of the supermarkets. Still more expensive than outside the airport, but not as expensive as the restaurants.

All I saw was blackness in this video... I liked the other video's though...

Wow! I'm glad I was lucky to go on the -200 then lol, because if it had the option of -300 I would have done it...thankfully they didn't   I think I'll only do Air France again if it's to France or to St. Martin as the A340 is spacious and a nice service.

A woman on the Paris - Manchester said that BA also put a drinks trolled in the back for you to help yourself and this is a good thing to have on an airline I think...so I'll try them for the first time when I go next

Thanks for updating the video! What terrible weather on landing... looks like quite a bumpy approach, but a good landing.

Yeah, it's only twice (or thrice) a week, because that flight than continues to DPS. Thankfully KLM only has 4 77W's, vs 30 at AF. So the chance of getting one on KLM is not that big.

Nice bunch of pictures, thanks for posting.

I've got to say the food and it's presentation does nothing for me att all, looks pretty terrible, especially the evening meal, looks like some green sludge from a pond!

Singapore is a great place, can't wait to go back again.
