Welcome to my 51st Trip Report. I am pretty excited about the 1 week journey which I am about to embark on. Firstly, I am travelling with a couple…or actually 10 of my close friends and we are spread in both first and business class. And the most important fact is, I will be flying on TG suites on the B773ER which are leased from Jet Airways.
26 August 2010
Jakarta (CGK) – Kuala Lumpur (KUL)
Malaysia Airlines MH710
Aircraft: B737-800
Reg:9M-MLD
1st Flight: 25 Oct 2007 (Ex Okay Airways of China)
ETD: 1110
ETA: 1410
Seat: 1F (Golden Club / Business Class)
Flight Time:2hrs 00min
Preflight
Traffic wasn't to bad during rush hour and I arrived at the airport with plenty of time to spare. I just spent my time in the HSBC Premier Lounge. Looking forward to this flight as its going to be my first time on MH's leased B738.
9M-MLD waiting for me
Inflight
Looks like its going to be a full flight in all classes. Crew are cheerful as usual. This is a few of MH's leased B738 before their main new build ones start arriving. Guess main reason why MH leased a couple of B738 is for crew familiarisation puporses and also at least some of their older B734 could be retires. Comfortable seats in J. This paritcular bird has proper J seats (ex-Chinese Carrier)some of other B738 for MH's J seats were the typical european economy seats with the centre left empty (leased aircraft).
Inflight Mag
But of course its no where comparable to GA's new B738. But at least its a huge step forward in terms of comfort compared to their old B734 workhorses.
Bye bye Jakarta, see you in a weeks time
About to commence descend, overflying Singapore and Changi Airport can clearly be seen
Kuala Lumpur (KUL) - Bangkok (BKK)
Thai Airways TG418
Aircraft: A330-300
Reg: HS-TEF
1st Flight: 02 March 1995
ETD: 2015
ETA: 2120
Seat: 14K (Royal Silk / Business Class)
Flight Time:1hr50min
No pictures of leg as I have flown this route too many times that its now irrelevant, but I have anyhow also attached a pic of this aircraft courtesy of A.Net
27 August 2010
Bangkok (BKK) - Paris (CDG)
Thai Airways TG930
Aircraft:B777-300ER
Reg:HS-TKG
1st Flight: 11 April 2007 (Leased from Jet Airways)
ETD: 0005
ETA: 0705
Seat: 1A (Royal First Class)
Flight time: 11hr18min
PreFlight
After arriving from KL its just the norm for me where I spent my time getting a massage and relaxing in the Royal First Lounge. Unfortunately as most of you that have been to BKK will know that its almost impossible to take pictures of aircraft, especially at night. I really wonder which idiot is responsible for the design of the convex shaped glass. HKIA is still tops for photography from within the terminal.
Inflight
Thai basically kept eveything in this aircraft in its original Jet Airways interior. The only difference is in the head rest covers. A polite crew on board as usual. The flight is full in all classes.
TG Suites photo tour, actually suites was originally by Jet Airways, and this is a leased aircraft before TG’s own B77W starts arriving in 18mths time.
Guess who the owner of this bird is?
I am really not a fan of gold!
Menu for this leg
Alrighty, after deciding what I wanted to have for dinner or supper due to the time …its back to more cabin shots
Strange, they can change the TG logo on the hand set, but not on the seat control remote
And the obligatory visit to the lavatory
Love the size of the minotor in the suite
Meal time
time for bed
As usual I managed to sleep most of the way and woke up just under 2 hours before landing where breakfast was served
Overall its another great flight by TG. Although this aircraft was a leased one from 9W, I do sincerely hope that TG will listen to the input of their most frequent flyers like myself and really start revamping their new fleet that coming online in a year or two; I especially hate the lie flats as they are almost impossible to sleep on.
27 August 2010
Paris (CDG) - Munich (MUC)
Aircraft: A320
Reg:D-AIQK
1st Flight: 04 June 1991
ETD:0845
ETA: 1020
Seat: 2A
Flight Time:1hr 5mins
Being a short domestic European hop to Munich from Paris, I will just let th pictures do the talking, and as expected, nothing out of the ordinary happened during this flight.
Breakfast onboard LH
And my trusty ipad to entertain me on all my flights
Although its quite a hassle taking the bus to the aircraft, one thing I do like with regional flights is the opportunity to get close with the aircraft and the plenty of action you get to see on the tarmac.
Neighbour across the aisle was snoring even before the doors were closed

Wonderful trip report again ThaiA345! Been wanting to see how does TG fare in terms of the suites in the 77Ws, seems like they did fairly well, although it's kinda funny to see a 9W logo on the remote instead of the beautiful TG logo!

Thanks for reading. Actually its kinda bittersweet in a way that TG's premium product aircraft and interior wise is actually a fully leased aircraft from 9W!
With regard to the logo, it is indeed strange that TG could change their logos on the IFE and monitors, but not on the seat control.

Quoting Nimish (Reply 3): How did you find the TG/9W first suite? Is this something you'd like to see TG retain or replace with something else?
Hi Nimish, thanks for reading. Basically the suites used on this 9W bird is way ahead in terms of product substance in comparison with TG's own F seat on their B744 and A346. I would like to see TG retain or at least even try to improve it when their A380 and B77W comes online in 18mths time. THe only issue i guess i didn't really like on the 9W F seat is the colour scheme, i guess i am just not a fan of gold ahahahhaha

Hi Thaia345!
Very nice report with very nice pictures! Thais's food look better here than on your recent CX reports! Which seat do you like better, CX or TG (9W) ? All the F/As were TG ?

I like the comfort of CX's F better as it is actually much bigger and gives much more personal space. Dont forget, on TG's B77W, its 1+2+1 while on CX its 1+1+1 so that shows how much more space CX has in their suites. Actually food is pretty comparable....but i think CX has better taste while TG has the better presentation.
Thanks again for reading and posting your comments

Hi boss!
Thanks for the enjoyable TR. I was most interested with the interior of 9M-MLD actually. First time seeing it. MH has 9 leased B738s, some came from European LCCs, some from other Asian carriers, some are brand new from Boeing which Delta didn't take, so there is quite a variant to the interior to the 9M-ML* series aircrafts. Do you think that is Okay Airways' J class seats?

Quoting 9MMAR (Reply 7): Do you think that is Okay Airways' J class seats?
I dont think so, because on the other labels on the aircraft, there are still chinese wrtiing in them (like life vest under seat) but on labels on the chair, its just english and behasa melayu. maybe MH got these seats second hand from some other airline? hahahah
Quoting MSS658 (Reply 8): I did not know 9W leased 77W's to TG! Those F suites look incredible, I have past them on 9W already
They just started leasing them from mid this year.....for a period of 3 years.
Quoting ryanair!!! (Reply 9): Strange departure profile. Where were you seated and did the plane take off southbound on Rwy 25R?
yup southbound 25R bro ...and it was making some really hard banks after that
Quoting ryanair!!! (Reply 9): Looks like we were both paying our patronage to this wonderful airline in August?
well, the both of us have to keep up the trend on TR on TG and Mh right? to make sure those airlines are kept on their toes ahahha

Another good read, thanks for posting.
Food and presentation looks good, though not keen on the pattern on the plane.
The LH breakfast looked better than some of the others I've seen recently too.
Re your comment about the new TG F, it will indeed be interesting if they listen to their premium customers advise or just roll out some sub standard product, let see!
