At 9.45 they announced that N754UW had a bird strike on landing at LGA and it would take the crews 45 minutes to check the aircraft. 10 minutes later they cancelled it altogether and told everyone to take the 11am just one gate over. They also announced open seating and no need to get new boarding passes.
I knew this would make for a very hectic boarding process to i took a seat very close to the jetway. After going through the trouble of arriving early to get seat 1a, i didn't want to get stuck in the middle seat of row 22!
While waiting at our new gate the flight to DC was boarding there. Observed and VERY irrate woman going through a random security check. We all know that when the computer selects you, you get checked multiple times. She was crying and saying this was the 3rd time. She started throwing everything out of her bag onto the floor. Then she was like "my husband's a very important actor and I have to be at the White House at 4pm, and my uncle just died." Port Authority cops came over and tried to calm her down. They told her that if she didn't calm down and let security screen her, she wouldn't be allowed on the plane. She kept going on about having to be at the White House and how she was going to sue the airlines. Some people are just really stupid. Just go through the process and be patient!
Our new plane was an A320 instead of A319.
Boarding came and I was on almost first, and got 2a, not to bad. Since the 11am was now two combined flights, it was pretty full. We pushed back a few minutes late an taxied right out to runway 13.
Service was a full can of juice / soda and a very tasty cheddar snack mix.
Sunday was a very cloudy and foggy in the Northeast and we had a very bumpy landing on to 22L.
Flight was a quick 30 minutes and I was outside on the curb at logan for my co-worker to pick me up even before my scheduled arrival of noon.
And all this fun for $52!
Too bad I'm getting a ride back to NY, no return flight

Very interesting, about the sobbing woman.
I just saw a bit about what seemed to be the same person on ET a few moments ago. She was flying US Airways, and complained about being searched for the 3rd time, and having to get to the White House for some reason or another. The woman was an attractive young blonde woman, I'm sure this is the same person Pshifrin encountered!
BTW, US issued a statement of apology to her, but apparently she still wants to sue...

So what if you are searched? I would rather be inconvenienced and feel safe knowing that here are authorities taking measures to make flying safe.
The fact that she kept mentioning she was someone important just comes to show what snobbery she possesses. In fact, I hope the authorities held her back at the airport for unruly behaviour!
I was mistaken for a dangerous person in Kuala Lumpur sometime back when my boarding pass was scanned before boarding and was rejected. Upon checking with the computers, the remarks was "do not board this pax" (trip report posted by SQ772 SIN-KUL-BNE on MH). Of course it was a computer error.
But hey! At least 911 has woken people up and revealed the vulnerability of human kind. So I hope that lady realises that what she did was inmature (I don't think she ever will realise) and silly, making a fool of herself.
