ORY/FDF On Duty As Cabin Crew

My flight was on march 2nd from ORY, Corsair main base to FDF.
I waked up at 7h30 and live my house one hour late to to take the bus which drove me to Corsair head-office near Orly Airport.
Briefing was 2 hours proir departure time which was at 11h30. So at 9h30 all the cabin crew of 13 plus 2 trainees were in a breifing room. The lead purser (posintion door 1L)introduce himself, as well as the purser(position door 4L). He first asked us where we wanted to be and i chose door 4R, responsible for the rear galley, then he gave us the name of the captain, F/O, type of aircraft 747-200 FGLNA ,flying time 8h05, and most of all the number of pax. The flight was full with 539 pax that day. Then the purser went on with the commercial aspect of the flight. Before we ended the captain came and introduce himself and told us about turbulences 3hours after departure.
One more coffee, and we left to the airport( Orly west). We got through security check and got into our plane. I made my way to door 4L and started my safety check (door, intercom, smoke hood, fire extinguisher, O2, ect..) then I check how many meals was in the ovens, trolleys and gave all that numbers to the purser. I prepared baskets with headphones, and refreshing towellets.
Boarding started at 10h30 and finished at 11h15, we started to offer the headphone and the refreshing towellets. At 11h30 we put the doors on automatic mode and right after started the safety demo while the plane was taxiing to the runway. Last check of the cabin, seats in the upright position, table fold away and seat belt fasten, i sat with next to me a non revenue mechanic and we took off after a very long and slow run, but as soon as the main gear left from the runway it seemed to be faster than before.
When the captain swichted off the smoking light and put it back, we all got up and started our duty. I put on the ovens for 20mn, prepared the baverage ( wine, orange juice,water ,coke ,fanta, apple juice, tomato juice, beer, sparkling water...which would be on the cart, then filled the cart with the hot casserols( salmon with spinach). 45mn after take off the service started. Me I was in the galley to prepare more carts and provide my collegues with whatever they wanted. More bread, and watere were offered, followed by tea and coffee, then we collected back the trays and offered more tea and coffee as well as toblerone chocolate bar ( charged 1 euro). Right after with the purser, we started the duty free sale in the galley. It is very import for us cause we have 10% commision. That day we sold for 2000 euros.
As we got 1h before the 2nd service we had our lunch and i wandered in the plane to chat with some fellows. The pax had been very rude during the 1rs service,so I the purser asked to work in the cabin and let her led the galley. The second service consist of a tray with 2 sandwiches, a cookie, tea, coffee, coke, orange juice or water, then we offered hot towells and collected back the tray with more tea and coffee. We we had just finished to put in order the galley the captain made announced the descent so we started to prepare the cabin for landing, and offered sweets to the pax. 20mn late we landed at FDF airport 45mn ahead of time.
We the engines stop we put the door on manuel and report to the lead purser. Deplaning last 30mn as there is only one gangway per boarding door at this airport. When the last pax left I checked my zone just in case a pax left something and left the plane. I did not go to the hotel with the crew, but to my brother house where I had dinner with the whole family.

It was great to se a report from a cabin perspective.
I am sad to hear what you had rude passenger on the flight.

I am flying a 2 times a year and have seen a few things of rudness from passengers and everytime I shake my head.

In these situations it is hard to do something as a passenger.
But one time on a flight with Lufthansa to Santiago, Chile from Frankfurt I told a passeger sitting beside me to calm down a little.
I said please don´t you se they are doing thier best.

The flight was full and it was a lot of kids on the flight.
and the children and thier family needed a little more attanetion at the moment becouse the airplane was in some turbulense and the kids was crying

The complaining passenger was arguing why he did not get his juice, right away.
The flight attendent told him he should get his juice right away after the turbulence was riden out

I could not myself se how he could drink something becouse the airplain bumped a lot.

It seams like some passenger think they are alone on the flight.

Yup, very nice to see a report from a crew's perspective. Very often, we complain about poor inflight service, not realising that at times , passengers themselves can be at fault.

I would like to invite crew from OA (they have been very consistant in providing sub-standard service on all the flights I have flown) to file a flight report! Would be very interesting...  Laugh out loud



There's always a better way to fly...

My next flight is on march 15, ORY/MAN deadheading then MAN/BIG(Barbados) on behalf of Britania on the B747SP. This flight exists since the beginning of fabruary on friday.Depart from MAN is at 10h55 local time.One hour stopover in BGI and we will fly on a private flight to PTP. 3 of my collegues and I will fly on the PTP/ORY the following day at 22H05 local time on a B747-300. The TUI group is starting to make each of its airlines flying for the others.

Very nice report!! I went to Corsair website after I finished reading your report. I found out that Corsair packs 539 seats in the 747-200s or 300s. Normally a 747-200 only accomodates 300-400 seats even in a 2 classes configuration. I guess the seats in the Horizon class must be extremely tight. Can you tell me the actual seat pitch for the Horizon class and Grand Large?

The 747-200 can accomodate 539 pax and the B747-300 580 pax. The seats are the same as any airlines which got B747 and the seat picht in eco must be 29 or 30inch. But as there are only galleys at doors 2 and 4 (not double one like others), no wardrobe so much more seat can be put in.

Corsairf/a do u know if Corsair was operating a SJU flight today on behalf of Brittania because I have never seen a Corsair 747 before at SJU . By the way it was an incredible sight to see a Corsair 747SP up close.

It might be a flight for Britania or another airline, cause Corsair do not fly to SJU. Corsair "wet lease" a lot. An aircraft and crew can be wet leased with-in 3 hours which is pretty fast.
