Hi,
I am going to Chicago on Saturday next week. I will be travelling from Melbourne-Chicago on Ansett and Korean. Routing and flight times are as follows:
Total air time is 24hr 30mins. I have heard some good things about Korean on this forum and this is also my first flight with them. The only problem is that I will have about 12 hours transit time in Seoul before I board the Chicago flight and also while coming back to Australia.

No problem, they treat you really well. Give you food and sometimes take you on a local trip of Seoul. It is awesome. What type of aircraft will you be flying on. I flew on the 772 from AKL-SEL. Great aircraft. very spacious. Loved the entertainment. The FA'S were so great kept givig us peanuts and drinks and gave alot of us two meals. (We were doing an exchange program with KE students). The flight from SEL-AKL was a 773. Very spacious and clean Awsome flight. FA'S really nice and friendly kept givg us food as well. Very quick service I must admitt. I also must Admitt i thought they were not great until i experienced them. I would diffinetely fly them any time. Can't wait to go Back To Seoul. Awesome place.

12 h in Seoul ? Poor guy. Nothing against Seoul but sitting at an airport for 12 h sounds terrible. But it sounds like a real long journey !
Enjoy it anyway.

Don't you like Seoul?? Why not if yes??
I love it there. Awesome views upon landing. Anyway i know the airport is really boring. Nothing to do. No shops or anything. 3 Hours is bad. Just pray that they will take you on the tour of Seoul. Lots a fun..
Cheers mikey Korean air all the way!!!!

I said, "Nothing against Seoul" but 12h at an airport sounds terrible.
I wouldn't want to sit at ANY airport for 12 hours !

I plan on going to Seoul next summer. A friend of mine in Seoul is getting married and I was asked to take part in his wedding. I cannot wait! I am sure that KE's service will be spectacular. Most services on Asian carriers are. And those Korean yujas . Korean lasses are adorable! Especially the ones from Korea. They're so sweet. No wonder you had such a good time!

My friend had a 12 hour stopover in SEL when flying SIN-ANC on KE and he just got a hotel room near the airport and slept. To me that's the best thing a person could do with a 12 hour stopover between long international flight, especially at Kimpo.

Too me 12 hours in an airport is a dream come true. Ive been 8 at JFK and in frigid temperatures . With some not great views cause it was foggy . But I made the best of it and enjoyed it.

I'm scheduled on KE085 from SEL-JFK on Jan 4. The eastbound Korean flights don't stop in Alaska according to my itinerary. My flight over to SEL has a technical stop in ANC. One question though, my itinerary does not list KE085 as stopping in Chicago before continuing onto JFK however, when i track this flight on flighttracker.com it always stops at ORD before heading over to JFK. Not a big deal, but i'm sure after such a long flight i'll be happy to be home at JFK.
