LX: SFO-ZRH In C. A340. Swiss New Config Business

I just flew the new configuration business class by Swiss. LX39 flies non-stop from SFO-ZRH. All I can say is that it is a fantastic business class product. I flew in seat 4A, which is the seat with tables on either side of you, almost like a first class product (but still business class).

The experience was just excellent, I must say. One of the top business class products that I have flown on. This is the new configuration, and I understand that Swiss also has an old configuration business class that is not as good, from what I read. However, this was fantastic. For a 12-hour flight, I could not have asked for much more. The service was outstanding, the food was very good--not excellent, but very good. To me, this was easily comparable to SQ's business class SFO-HKG B777 product.

Thanks for posting this report - loved the video. How come seat 4A is configured like that? I would really love to see a similar report of the return flight if you're planning to post one!

Those seats are fantastic. I flew on the old LX product which wasn't half as good, (no flat bed). Glad you enjoyed the trip - the beef looked very good and the 'pretzel rolls' - they are a typical swiss roll.

Next time come to GVA!

Hey sfflyer. That was a very good video TR. You covered it all.

I really want to try and snag this flight but in the other direction ZRH-SFO. That livery is so funky.
The new C class seat looks good with plenty room for drinks and snacks. Am i right in thinking that every other seat row in biz is a "throne"?
I flew the LAX-ZRH LX41 about 10 months ago, this had the old, angled flat bed seat but i had drank and ate so much i had no problem getting a solid 4hrs sleep.

Anyways, looking forward to read/watch your return report. Thanks again.

I've flown in this cabin on a A330 to DXB and yes, on that side of the cabin you have one throne seat, a double seat behind then another throne. This is because the space at each side of the throne seat is the space used by the two seats behind you when they are reclined to sleep mode.

I have to admit that I too love the new Swiss business product, the seat is comfortable and my experience with the food was excellent. Just a shame my return flight to ZRH was through the night meaning I missed most of the return flight sleeping.

One last note, row's 4 and 5 are in a front cabin seperate from the rest of business class, as I was flying with a friend, we did 5A and 5B and the feel of the cabin is so much more private than the main business class section.

One downside was that I had issues putting my table away each time - it just didn't want to play.

Excellent video on the TR.

That seat, 4A, is really a throne, although looking at the cabin many of the solo seats are... they look really comfortable. So far I have only flown the old seats on A332... a joke compared to these ones, anyway, service made up for it. How was service and crew performance in this flight?

Looking forward to flying on those on my next trip to North America, although I am more on the Montréal route.

Another great video!! I agree with you on the A340 .. the engines seem so small, and when you're taking off it takes FOREVER!

Swiss looks like it provides a really nice J product. The food make me hungry! I would agree with you on airplane eggs .. when I flew to VIE on Austrian Airlines back in '99 the eggs in "Grand Class" were extremely rubbery and must have been made by a powder mix. Really not very good ...

Did you fly Swiss back? Looking forward to your return video.

Flew that same leg 2 weeks earlier and I can only reassure! LX new C is just fantastic. on the way to SFO, I couldn't get a seat om the direct flight and had to fly ZRH-BOS (and onwards with UA) , which was also in their new C and I enjoyed it very much. the seat and bed is excellent (especially if you are seated in the even numbered A seats, like this one in the pic!), the service was immaculate, and the food was very good. ugh, I miss their spicy bloody mary...

I have to admit, it would be a very tough call on the next visit to SFO whether to fly with LX or with LH's A380.

I thought the fully lie flat seat and amazing service were the tipping points. I thought the LX service offering and flight attendants made all of the difference. Thanks again!

That is great to hear! Thank you so much for your feedback. I am glad that you enjoyed your trip. What did you think of the food? I personally really liked the seat. The screen was a bit small for me, but it was mainly an evening flight, so it was less critical. What did you think of the screen? Thanks!

I tried sleeping on my back, but it did feel like you were being lowered into a coffin when you adjusted the seat into the bed position. My seat ended up breaking and getting stuck in the lounge position, but they were able to find me another open seat in the Business cabin.

I thought the screen could actually be improved a bit. It was a tad small. I also found the resolution to be a bit poor. It had the resolution of a tube type screen and not the LCD / Touchscreen resolution. I also found the navigation to be a big clunky especially when navigating the music and movies.

That is great. I thought the food overall was also very good, and I am glad that you got better eggs than I did!

Wow, that's pretty good. There was no open seats in busines class when I flew. That's great for you!

I agree. For such a grea business class product, the screen shoudl be bigger. It was a tad small.
