Hello Again my fellow Aviation nutters!!!

Welcome to Part 2 of my report on DXB-BLR, The link to Part 1 is here:

Emirates Trips To BLR And Back- Part 1 (by adityashankar Jan 2 2011 in Trip Reports)

Introduction- Recap

Well like mentioned in Part 1, I have broken down my countless flights to BLR into two parts, each with its own unique feature. The unique feature of the first part was-(Spoiler Alert   ) It was the first time, I landed in the new Bangaluru International Airport, after their move from the HAL airport. Now the unique feature in this report is that this will be the last time I will travel through Terminal 1, as Emirates moved all its operations to Terminal 3 the next month (October 2008), plus, I got some interesting pictures of the First Class lounge, glimpses of Dubai after take-off, the monsoon clouds over India, aerial views of BLR and also a selected collection of pictures of the HAL Aerospace museum in BLR.
Now that I have gone through the details of the service of EK and the description of the new airport in Part 1, I will not repeat myself and bore you guys, so I will keep this as a photo essay (My first photo essay  ) and let the pictures do the talking…

September 2008
EK A330
DXB-BLR

The Entrance to the First And business class check-in- Terminal 1 (T1) at DXB

Overview of the Check-in area

A blend of electricity...and natural light

I got a chance to relax at the first class lounge before the flight, so took a couple of pics and had breakfast before proceeding to the Gate.

Nice touch

I liked the reflection of light on the curvature of the terminal

Breakfast

Boarding

Much to my annoyance and disappointment, the aircraft was (again) an Airbus A330   , meaning no ICE. The boarding took a while so I managed to a couple of nice pics at the aerobridge/jetway.

My ride

A Boeing 777 200LR beside us...probably heading to the West Coast of the USA

Engine...fuselage...wing and tail of my ride
A Qatar Airways B777 being towed away...

The Safety card for the EK Airbus A330

View from my window

Pushback...with the Flight dispatcher...note the Terminal 3...due to open in 2 months and still dirty  Wow!Taxi and Take-off

View of the Cargo terminal

Waiting for clearance to taxi..while an Air France takes off beside us

Taxing to the runway

On hold...notice the aircraft taking off

Entering the runway

Climb, Cruise and Inflight services

The climb gave me a chance to get some rare glimpses of Dubai... but sadly the visibility was bad, here are the best ones

The Flower Center and some other landmarks visible

Familiar buildings..
Sea air (pun intended) A cargo ship probably heading to Iran

Possible site of the Deira Palm Island

Sh. Zayed road in the mist

View of the world islands, and notice the vertical stabilizer

The Sh. Zayed Road and most of DXB's landmarks u/c. Also visible is the construction of the Burj Kahlifa and the Dubai Mall

Overview of the DXB Airport

Somewhere over Fujairah

This is why I love flying- for views like this

The seatbelt sign is switched off, and passengers are gettin' ready to visit the washroom

Over the coast of Oman

Lunch- AVML

Through a cloud and first glimpse of India's monsoon

Another view of the cabin

A pic i am personally proud of, as you can see the monsoon clouds and the coast of India

More monsoon clouds and a rainbow (it's rather faint)

Ground crew inspecting the runway for debris after we landed...

At the Gate...beside an IndiGo A320

View of the terminal, taken from the Bus Shuttle service to the city.

Thus concludes my trips to BLR with EK.

HAL Aerospace museum
While at BLR, I got a chance to visit the HAL aerospace museum. For those who are wondering what the museum is like...well it's a great museum with some great exhibits that gives us a glimpse of the history of the aeronautical industry in India. It definitely worth a visit...Here are the pictures of a few exhibits.

View of the Entrance and the HAL Airport

The first exhibit that will catch ur eye is the fighters and trainers

The Westland Mk 42 Helicopter

The ALH (Advanced light helicopter) better known as the helicopter used by the Sarang Display team

The DHC Dove (Devon)

The hansa trainer

The HT-2 Trainer

The Kiran trainer (I think)

The PSLV Heat shield.

The indoor exhibits...there are many more exhibits of the engines used, the landing gear...

THe Best part of the Museum is the photo gallery, with rare pics of the HAL airport and their aircraft in action, I will not post many of these pics as I might spoil the fun of people planning to go there, but here's a few to give you a general Idea

So that was my third trip report...thank you for reading it and feel free to comment...

Now that this was the last flight for me in 2008, my next trip report will set in 2009, what sectors to expect??
1. DXB-YYZ with EK on the Boeing 777
2. YYZ- DXB with EK on the A380
3. DXB-PNQ on the Air India Express

So till my next trip report....Happy landings!!!!
