OKOK, I know, this is not a marvellous trip around the world, but it's only a daytrip from Bergamo to Madrid, Spain, but I like travelling so I decided to write this trip report.
...and I changed my camera. I bought a Casio EX-FH100 and I wanted to test it.
I have to say that I'm writing this text just one hour after my arrival and, after a whole day traveling. I'm a little bit tired, so I'm not absolutely sure about results...
Usually the weather in Spain is better than here, in Italy, but this time it is not. Here in Brescia (close to Bergamo) the sun in the morning was shining but in Madrid it was really cloudy, rainy and the temperature was for the whole day between 7 and 8 degrees..
Here's the route
BGY (45°40'26"N 09°42'15"E) MAD (40°29'37"N 03°34'00"W) 246° (SW) 1222 km
MAD (40°29'37"N 03°34'00"W) BGY (45°40'26"N 09°42'15"E) 57° (NE) 1222 km
Total: 2444 km
This is the new BGY departing lounge. It's quite beautiful, but I think that the wood used for the floor is not perfectly suited for this type of use. That's why it already seems worn out, despite the fact that it's only about one year old....
As usual, Ryanair flight from MAD (like alla Ryanair flights are used to do...) arrives earlier than scheduled so boarding procedure could begin very soon and we were in air 5 mins before scheduled time
19.02.2011 BGY-MAD
Scheduled 08,40-11,00
Actual 08,35-10,41
Airline RYANAIR
Boeing 737-800
Reg. EI-ENI
Delivered to Ryanair on 13/01/2011
Flight fare (all included) € 14,99
Booking date 22.11.2010
As you can see this airplane was delivered to Ryanair on 13/01/2011, it's barely one month old and it's always a pleasure flying in new airframes, they're so nice, clean and their smell is quite good!!!!
Here you can see the city of Bergamo (note the nice weather)
Alps are always impressive
Here we enter Spain. That peninsula is very close to France/Spain border
Girona airport (GRO)
Look at this beautiful Wizzair 320!!!
Landed in Madrid I didn't know exactly what to do, because it was raining. So I decided to see the famous four towers area, but pictures aren't good, because I had to keep my umbrella!!!!
I thought I could see the towers in all their magnificence, but unfortunately I could only see a part of them....
So I went back to the underground and I thought to go to El Prado Museum. But unfortunately there was a long queue, so I strolled to Puerta del Sol area.
On my way to Plaza Mayor I saw this astonishing building, very beautiful
The Royal Palace
To Espana square
To Principe Pio
The area close to the river is very nice
Back to the city center
San Miguel market
Tasty food!!!!
Once again Plaza Mayor
La Puerta del Sol
Sol metro station
Italian built train wagon
Nuevos Ministerios, from which the metro line to the airport departs. If you enter or go out from one of the airport stations you pay the ticket € 2,00 instead of € 1,00 as usual.
This is the famous Barajas T4. Terrific.
Then I took my shuttle bus to T1
19.02.2011 MAD-BGY
Scheduled 18,45-21,00
Actual 19,00-20,43
Airline RYANAIR
Boeing 737-800

Delivered to Ryanair on 28/01/2011
Flight fare (all included) € 14,99
Booking date 22.11.2010
Note that this frame was delivered on 28 gen 2011. So this day I flew on 13/01/2011 and 28/01/2011 delivered airplanes!!!!
What do you think about this pic? I like it!!!
Who says the seats on Ryanair airplanes are too small?
Ciao!!!!
What do you think about my new compact camera? I don't think it's too bad, considering it's a compact camera.
PS on may the 16th I'm going to be at In and Out burger @ LAX airport for a daytrip (from SEA). If somebody wants to meet there I'll be very pleased to know some of you!!!!

Nice report - thanks for posting this. I am doing a short trip to MAD in April. We're hoping to combine spotting with at least one day wandering around Madrid itself - it looks very interesting. Nice camera too ! Thanks again P/jet

Hi Pierangelo,
nice trip report with some great pics. And indeed, that picture with the rain drop is very nice, very atmospheric, well done. I also like that air-to-air-shots with the Wizzair plane, looks great.
Such short trips are always a lot of fun and fares like that make it even better. And you were lucky to get two brand-new planes, it sure was a pleasure to fly with them.
Thanks for sharing this trip with us and greetings

Great trip report. Shame about the weather but there's not a lot you can do about that. Lovely photos of some of the old buildings, one of the things I liked about Madrid when I visited last summer.
T4 at Barajas is impressive and proves that the architecture of pubic spaces doesn't have to be boring.
