Continental 1027, BWI-IAH
Boeing 737-800, N35771, Seat 16A

Sorry no pictures of this one.

Despite having a full-load in both cabins we pushed back on-time at 1pm. This is one of the newest 738s in the Continental fleet. This aircraft was delivered last November and features the mid-cabin lav, winged headrests and superbig overhead bins.

Overall I can say I was impressed with the 737-800. It was fairly quiet and comfortable on the inside.

In-flight service included a movie, this time "Behind Enemy Lines", and a snack/meal service. This time I had a choice of the world's smallest turkey sandwich or the world's smallest ham sandwich. I settled on the ham. The meal consisted of typical fare on Continental, a bag of Fritos (which I did not eat), those little baby carrots and a chocolate snack thing. The first drink service was given at the sametime as the meal service. Later in the 3 and a half hour flight a second drink service was offered.

Interesting feature, which I haven't seen on any other IFE equiped CO aircraft that I have been on (733, 73G and 757) was the before and after the movie realtime flight info was displayed, very detailed info too (Mach number, rate-of-climb, windspeeds), I thought it was a nice touch.

Yet another on-time arrival, this time to a very slow Saturday afternoon in Houston.

After a good hour and a half layover we board and leave about 10 minutes late. There were storms around the Houston area, as such the plane was a little late arriving from Tucson. But the gate crew manages to load us up pretty quickly and we push from gate C-47 almost 10 minutes behind schedule.

This plane is the only remaining MD-83 in Continental's fleet. It had the new winged headrest seats, but not the enlarged overhead bins.

In-flight service consisted of a meal/snack. This time the world's smallest ham sandwich, but with cheese this time. With the sandwich was the usual assortment of food in CO's snack/meal trays... carrots, shortbread/chocolate cookie thing, plus the drink service. On this 2 and a half hour flight a second drink service was offered as well.

This flight was also pretty full, up front and in back. Which wouldn't have been so bad except the fact that the son of a bitch next to me felt the need to sprawl out. He looked like a guy at home in his baraclounger. I know a 17 inch wide seat with 31 inch pitch ain't much, but it is even less when some yahoo is lounging over into your space. My personal space bubble was violated.

Beyond the annoying rowmate we arrived in Tucson on-time. I picked my bags up within 20 minutes of arriving and was able to head home quickly.

Overall a great performance with no snags or problems at all.
