In January 2011, I used a systemwide upgrade to upgrade myself on the HKG-SFO non-stop flight. I was very lucky to get this upgrade, since I bought the ticket 2 weeks before it took off. This is my trip report of the experience.
1) UA's food seems to be getting better. It was really not that bad at all.
2) The flight from HKG to SFO is dramatically shorter than the flight SFO-HKG. It was only 9 hours versus 14 hours!
3) They take a much more southern route returning than they do going. SFO to HKG hugs alaska coastline and comes down the eastern coast of Asia, but on the return, it seems to almost fly over the Hawaiin islands.
4) UA has a great business class hard product. I think the seat is very nice and the AVOD is just great with its large screen

Thanks very much. It's always nice to make flying fun. It's so easy to get jaded with frequent flying these days. I try to keep it light to prevent myself from getting too jaded these days.
Quoting 767747 (Reply 4): Another great video, sfflyer123!
I love the wing flexing of the 747 ... what a great aircraft! Looks like you had a nice flight with United in J.

Thanks for your report and taking the time to film everything! Wow, 9 hours vs. 14 hours is truly impressive. It was indeed very interesting to see the wingflex during take-off

I have never acheived that short fight time on that route, that really was a quick one.
Yes, I was very surprised. I was thinking that I could get at least 10-11 hours. But apparently the tailwinds were massively strong (well over 100mph). It was kind of a bummer because I could not sleep as long as I wanted to. The flight was so short--like flying SFO-NRT! I guess if I were in a rush, it would have been great, but I was kind of sad that it was so short.

Thank you very much! I am glad that you enjoyed the videos. I will continue to try to create one each month with an international business or first class trip. Thanks again!
