Northwest DC-10 - Detroit To LAX

I was sitting in the 36th row in the back of the DC-10 when 5 teenagers sat down behing me in the back row and two accross the isle from me. The whole flight the girls behind me keep kicking my chair and talking loudly so finally I turned around and asked them to shut up for five minutes so some of the rest of us could have some sort of piece and quiet and to stop kicking my chair. The girls complied with both requests. Then we land on 25L at LAX and we are taxing accross 25R. As we are doing this the guy sitting accross from me (teenager) decides to get out of his seat to use the restroom and two flight attendants come rushing down the isle and intercept him and yell at him to sit down and buckle back up as no one can use the restroom until we reach the gate. I just could not believe how stupid this guy was to try and do this. This for me was certainly not one of the more enjoyable flights that I have ever been on.

That's more of a complaint than a trip report....it sounds like it might have been an interesting flight...is there more???

This is the kind of stuff that FA's have to put up with on a regular basis. And people wonder why FA's get all aggrivated with passengers at times.

There has got to be more to what you said above. Where are the details of the trip?

Cmon LGB let it out. Let it all out. Consider it as therapeutic.

Its better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than be in the air wishing you were on the ground. Fly safe!

No that is just about it. The flight otherwise was uneventuful. We did get de-iced before we took off and they offered us two choices of sandwiches, Turkey or Ham. I didnt like that fact that they did not have any headphones so you could listen to music. Guess I will be bringing my cd player on board all the rest of my flights this year to listen to.

Was this NW flight 32/31 that originates in LGW? Just curious cos when i flew LGW-DTW, the NW DC-10 continued onto LAX.

Arsenal@LHR - I don't know if the flight originated there or not. I got to the gate 3 hours before the flight and the aircraft was already there, I believe that this was and originating flight from DTW.

FrequentFlyKid - Regarding the kid bashing, most kids are not like that. Did you not read the part abot the girls constantly kicking my chair? As far as the guy who got up to use the restroom, it is a big deal. Anyone using common sense would not get up while the airplane is taxing to use the restroom. Do I care what u think about my trip report, umm....NO!

Its ok to complain about your flight. But hey - to say you do not care about trip reports? Know what? The name of this forum is (surprise!) TRIP REPORTS!

So we would very much like to hear about your flight as well. So please write more the next time...

Cheers

A point to note...

It is the responsibility of the airline to ensure the safety of all passengers travelling with them. Hence, the airline's ambassadors - attendants, are in the cabin to make sure of that.

Standing up during taxi is definitely not allowed, what's more he got up and went to the toilet! What happened if the aircraft braked suddenly and he fell? Hit his head against the bulkhead? Don't know about Northwest, but here in Singapore Airlines the stewardess would have got reprimanded for that, probably even a warning letter! Airlines take that very seriously and I cannot stress more on how important it is to buckle up when told to.

I can imagine if that guy really got injured, now that would be cause for another lawsuit that would really be uncalled for...

Cheers
Ryan

Yeah, but the guy getting out of his seat like that shows how much of an idiot he is.
A) the seat-belt sign was on
B) anyone who has travelled on an airplane before knows not to get up during taxi
C) due to the paranoia sorrounding security and staying in your security, anyone getting up and running in the cabin when they aren't supposed to is certainly going to shake up some people. He's lucky someone didn't jump him...taking the matter into their own hands.

I've been on those, the airline can be providing good service, but sometimes the ignorant people around you can make or break your opinion on the flight.

I don't know NW but on most airlines as soon as the aircrfat lands an announcement is made through the PA saying "please keep your seatbelts on until we reach the gate". It just shows how some people just don't pay attention or are just stupid.

PSU - you fail. Just kidding. Alays proofread your work! Aren't you in school? =)

Frequentflykid: This dude getting up and walking around IS a big deal. It's called... regulation. If you listen to the announcements that are made (obviosuly this dude didn't) it is required for passengers to comply with posted placards and ALL crew member instructions... including remaining in your seat until the aircraft has come to a complete stop at the gate. So, you can think we as flight crews are just kidding around when we make announcements and perform duties in your best intrest. But, it's not that way and I guess when you grow up you'll realize the importance of rules and authority.

FrequentFlyKid - I guess you don't understand how serious of a problem it is to get out of your seat while the plane is taxing especially after what happened 6 months ago. Young people think they know everything.

Wait a minute. I didn't say I know everything, so stop putting words in my mouth. You guys are taking what I said out of context. Maybe I wasn't clear. What I am trying to say is that man getting out of his seat at an inappropriate time did not ruin your flight LGB. It may have disgusted you, it may have made you think, "gee, what an idiot," however I find it hard to believe that you got off that flight all pissed off and thinking your trip was terrible because of that. It's definetely illegal and he should not have done it. However, in the aspect of your trip it didn't make or break it. If it did, then I feel very sorry for you.

Please don't put words in my mouth or sling accusations around at me. One thing still remains true: ". As for this "trip report", it's not even worth the time to post it. All you did was bitch. You said nothing about your trip."

Hahahaha... like that cartoon!!! C'mon, lets give this guy a break already. It's his first time and he did say he does not fly a lot. So he probably does not know that criteria about a report, ok?

LGB, take a cue. Now that you know what a report like that does, you might want to add more details into your next one. Even better, since you do not fly much, why don't you expand this current report of yours? Since you joined A.net in Jul 01, have you flown at all?

A.net is for aviation enthusiast, I am sure you know that already. So details about you flight is the key here...

Cheers
Ryan

Okay a few more details regarding the flight. The food in my opinion was not very good, it seemed to be a little stale (spelling?) and since when do they not hand out free headphones to listen to music?? Last time I flew domestic in 1999, it was on UA and they handed out headphones. Is it only NW that doesn't do this? I will definetely be bringing my cd player on board to listen to some music. The apu did not seem to work at they started all 3 engines at the gate before pushback which was kinda cool. I am due to fly to Detroit on Wed. on NW and then from DFW back to LAX on AA 2 weeks from now.

I don't know what to say now. I tell the guy his trip report needs work and you guys yell at me. He rips on teenagers, but it's accepted. I guess that's par for the course around here. My first trip report was terrible. I was told so, no big deal. Now my trip reports are awesome. However, I find it hard to believe that people don't know what a trip reoprt should include. How many do you need to read until you get? On top of that I don't think this was ever meant to be a trip report. I think this was intended to be a "this is what I had to bitch about on my trip." As for me giving teenager's a bad name, that's laughable. I think it's funny how people personally attack other people on this site without ever meeting them. I don't know any of you and none of you know me, so don't accuse. It's immature.

I would still like to know if that guy getting out of his seat made your trip terrible LGB.

25 Norbert: I must add that 'NikonF100' couldn't have made a better post. 'FrequentFlyKid', you are hypocrite and annoying! You complain that the report is about
26 Ryanair!!!: guys guys guys.... Please be civilised! Two of my post in the Civil Aviation forum was deleted because of these strong language used! Lets be nice to
27 GRZ-AIR: Hey FFKID..I am a teenager too , however I do understand LGB's point in complaining about the "annoying" teenagers on the flight. I wouldnt care if it
28 FrequentFlyKid: Like I said, you don't know anything about me, don't tell me I give teenager's a bad name. Trust me, it's far from it.
29 BWIrwy4: Not based on what you've posted so far. You are giving us a bad name.
