Reason for trip
The main purpose of my trip was to get to Brisbane for a customer event, and most importantly try out MH all new A333 in J. However, it was sure chaos on the get go as my connecting flight from CGK was cancelled due to a major technical problem. So to cut the chaos short I somehow ended on the afternoon flight to KUL and onto Sydney with MH in F and later connecting un SYD with QF to BNE. I am pretty excited about this as this us going to only be my 2nd time to experience MH First Class.

Preflight
After arrival from CGK, I just decided to enjoy the nice quiet surrounds of the Golden First Class Lounge where I had a shower, managed to try out the dining room and love the smoking room with comfortable lounge chairs with a nice view over the tarmac.
Really nice smoking room with tarmac views in MH 1st Lounge
Bar area in the smoking room
Shower room (really disappointing in comparison to other airlines F shower facilities)
1st Class Lounge Views
And now its time to seat down and enjoy dining in the 1st Lounge
Uzbekistan B763 and my usual TG at the back
Putrajaya awaiting me
Inflight
As this is my 2nd time on MH First, i must say that their F cabin is much better laid out than TG F although they both have the same seats.
As seen from the pictures, MH has much better decor and ambience, auto window shades and dare u say, even a top and cheerful crew on board. Oh my! Am I trying to say that MH F is better than my beloved TG F? I guess to me TG seems like they just installed their F seats but no general upgrading was done to the cabin, whereas MH really went for it when they upgraded their F cabin about 5 years ago.
Menu for this leg of my flight
Current issue of inflight magazine & Duty Free
My essentials and amenity kits
The customary visit to the lav
Getting ready for Dinner & a quick glimpse of the IFE
Bed time
Last cabin views and view upon descend into Sydney
The entire flight went by quickly and i also managed to get good nights sleep, waking up just before top of descent. Overall a great flight with MH F and I will definitely fly them again should the opportunity arise.

top report as always!!
good to know MH Standards havent slipped, even if their product may not be as advanced as SQ/EK! hopefully their updated FC product when the A380's arrive in 2012 will be something "new" rather than just keeping up with their southern neighbours.

Nice report as always, thanks for sharing.
Food as always looks good on MH, good to see they are joining OW, quite pleased about that
Shame the flights got messed up, was really looking forward to seeing the new interior on the next batch of A330's MH are getting, I'm sure you'll manage it soon.

The MH B744 First looks great, although I'm surpised that there were 5 hot course to choose from for dinner, and only a no choice cold meal for breakfast.
Quoting ba319-131 (Reply 3):
The QF brekky looked weak, just a bit of fruit?
Did you order a fruit plate, or does QF normally just serve lots of fruit!?

Sadly, looking at the new A333 J product, it looks like they will yet again be playing catch up!
Quoting Quokka (Reply 2): t is good to see another report from you, especially as it included a visit to PER.
I am a bit confused as to how the change came about and why you ended up in First on MH. What was your original choice and class of travel?
Always happy to go back to PER as its home for me. Basically I was slated to fly CGKKULBNE, but flight out of CGK had a tech so mi missed my BNE connection, so decided to go on the flight to SYD later in that day (MH only has 1 BNE flight on that day)

Hi Mark ! WIll be posting the new A333 in a few minutes after this reply !

This is one great TR Herbert
Haven't seen a MH 744 First Class report before and been long wanted to try. Shame MH until now wasn't part of a major alliance have really prevented me from trying. Reading your TR really assures me that MH 744 is the finest way to travel!
I love the ambience and they refurbished the cabin completely, unlike TG did a cheap job with old bins, overhead projectors still around.
I have a feeling there is another big TR a.netter in the country who want to fly MH 744 F just as badly as I do
Thanks for sharing the great report! I enjoyed 100%.
Question. Do you prefer MH new A333 or 777 for flying Aust-KL?

Rare TR on MH 1st class. Nice one!
Interesting to note the slight different arrangement of similar seats between TG and MH. I compared photos between the 2 airlines, it seems that MH has positioned the middle seats further back to provide a front tabletop to be used for inflight service.
However this means the last middle row of seats are in line with the exits, doesnt seem very private, especially if 1 is fond of early boarding!
Will be flying TG 1st on the A340-600 and 747-400 ( the newer seats hopefully) in september, been reading all your TG TRs with gusto!

Hi Sam, it is indeed a great experience, although for me its also my 2nd time, i am now sitting in TG Royal Silk Lounge in KL waiting for my flight to BKK and onto NRT in F

Ambience is 100% much better than TG F....

Let me guess, Roni? ehehhehehehehe
Quoting N178UA (Reply 6): MH new A333 or 777 for flying Aust-KL?
Both are fine for me, but i love the B772ER in J, especially on row 5, as from my TR you can see its a whole row to yourself, especially if i am travelling with my family, it seems as though its your own private jet ahahhaah
Quoting 9MMAR (Reply 7): Hi boss. Regardless how vintage the hardware product is, it is always a pleasure to read about the rare MH's F.
Great observations boss, they have indeed updated all the interior in the F lounge

Actually being in MH F cabin, it doesnt feel as cramped as TG F, although MH has 2 more seats, i guess the job they did with the interior upgrade made the difference. Hopefully my previous TR on TG gave you insights on what to expect product wise.!

EK has a similar setup on their 2 class 777Ws with lie flats, and i didnt enjoy sitting in the last single row cabin. Too near the economy bulkheads with screaming toddlers, and Y passengers kept coming into the cabin!

I have been reading up your series of TRs over and over again, it has only heightened my expectations of TG !
I do hope they dont let me down!

That is true, but i also have a 2 year old toddler, although she is really good on the aircraft, but just in case, at least we are away form the main J cabin and she wont bother the other passengers

From my experience, they are always great and consistent in F, but in J, sometimes they are really inconsistent especially in the regional routes

Wow. I don't think I have ever seen a MH FCL report - thank you! I sometimes even forget they have a F class. Looked impressive - and I agree, the cabin is much better maintained than on TG.
