As my connection time was not enough for a full body massage, I opted for the foot massage before heading back to the Royal First Lounge to shower and relax before my flight to NRT.
In my opinion, still one of the best shower rooms of all the F lounge’s that I have been too.
After my shower, I decided just to spend what little time I have left in the Royal First Lounge’s smoking room.
And like clock work I was picked up by my valet 5mins before scheduled ETD.
In flight
Upon entering door 1L the in-flight manager immediately recognized me from my now uncountable flights in TG F. Somehow although 2 weeks earlier i had a great flight on MH F to SYD, nothing still beats being recognized and being in my comfortable surroundings on the nose of TG's queen of the skies. And a nice surprise was that the purser also thanked me for my continuous patronage of TG and also welcomed me to the new tier of TG’S Royal Orchid Platinum status. Really sad they won't be around for much longer. TG’s B744 will be decommissioned on a one for one basis when the A380’s and B773ER arrive from end of 2012.
Home sweet home in the nose of TG’s B744

An empty F cabin, for now.
Inflight Menu
Not the best AVOD out there, but does its job sufficiently and also one of the more stable ones I have come across so far.
And every person’s favorite time of the flight, the in flight meal.
After the main course was served, I was already pretty tired, so it was lights out for me all the way till 1 hour before start of descent.

After an overnight stay in Tokyo, its off to Haneda in the morning to catch my flight to Hiroshima.
A very busy airport at all times of the day, and this is just the ANA terminal

As usual, a very polite crew greeted us onboard and were helpful with everything from cabin bags to anything that we might require

Inflight reading material, very nice indeed, well based on the pictures ☺
Really love the way NH present their short haul meals. The best out there in my opinion and taste has been good everytime I had them.

After a hectic day of meetings in Hiroshima, its now time to head hone. Really love international flights out of HND as this really safes the godforsaken journey to Narita.
HND International terminal, looking at the already busy SQ check in, TG is just behind it.
Really helps if you are coming from a domestic flight like myself. Took the monorail from ANA Domestic Terminal 2 to Haneda International. My first time here, but overall i really do like the layout and airiness of the new terminal. Check in was slow, at least i already checked in online so that quicken my check in time. After which I grabbed some dinner before proceeding airside where U just waited at the ANA Lounge till boarding.
ANA lounge which was packed to the brim as it was being used by all Star Alliance flights
Inflight
Love boarding by stairs, as you get up close and personal with the aircraft, sadly I didn’t have my good camera with me so night shots without flash were not the best.
A full flight to Bangkok, sadly the seat next to me was taken, so there goes my extra personal space.
First gen BE Aerospace made lie flat seats. Not comfortable for anything more than 5 hours in my opinion.
Inflight menu
Some pics taken during taxi
Boarding was pretty much on time and after take off they served some supper before I had some rest.

1st Flight: 09 Feb 2010 (But only delivered to TG in June 2011, due to failure of Koito in delivery Y seats that meat FAA standards. Took a year of delay before another supplier could meat the demand from many airlines in the world that had same issues with Koito, including SQ!)
Hope you guys enjoyed this short TR from me, I know its not written in detail as I was really dog gone tired after this short and hectic trip to Japan. My next trips are:
- Beijing & Tianjin with CX and KA in both J and F (20 July)
- Kuala Lumpur with MH in J (29 July)
- Paris & Frankfurt with TG in F (9 Aug)
- US California Trip with GA in J and CX in F (24 Aug)
- Frankfurt with TG in F (15 Sep)
That’s my schedule till September folks. Thanks again for reading my TR. Below are also a list of my TR from Newest to Oldest.
Quoting thaia345 (Thread starter): TG’s B744 will be decommissioned on a one for one basis when the A380’s and B773ER arrive from end of 2012.
Not to worry. It is only the 6 oldest that will be decomissoned in 2012-2015. The 12 newer ones will be kept in the fleet and the 7442s will get new interiors in all 3 classes
Quoting thaia345 (Thread starter): First gen BE Aerospace made lie flat seats. Not comfortable for anything more than 5 hours in my opinion.
Agreed and one the main reasons I don't fly TG on trips to Thailand. It's just to slippery slope
I did TG F BKK-HKG-BKK in April with my GF and she just loved it and especially the lounge in BKK.
So now I'm in the prossess of booking another TG F adventure; CDG-SYD with a three week stopover in Thailand for january 2012, with my GF's full blessing and understanding
All thanks to the lounge in BKK

Wow what a lovely trip report!
Those Boeing 747s will be missed dearly and I am actually very happy that Thai Airways still offer two meals on these overnight flights. SQ has made it into a combo (light meal or breakfast flight), and it is good that TG remains a hot snack after takeoff and a hot breakfast prior to landing.

Hiya thaiA345,
You certain make me jealous with your TG reports as it'll be another 2 years when I get to fly them again! Still feels great to see the 77E J seats which I love but never got another chance to fly in them again. As usual on TG, catering looks wonderful!
Photos of the Royal First Lounge always makes me jealous as I pass by it countless times when walking to the Royal Silk Lounge but never got a chance to enter it. A nice touch from TG that they managed to recognise you after flying so many times in TG F. I remember there are plans to refurbish 6 of their 744s to newer J and F seats with PTVs in Economy so I guess some are still there to stay. You should fly on their A345s and A346s now as they are getting phased out soon!
The amenity kit in TG F looks wonderful, if only I could have one of those! :p With TG's AVOD, it certainly helps to pass the time faster but certainly it cannot be compared to the likes of EK or SQ. Meals on TG F looks wonderful as usual, but I can't help to wonder why is there no caviar for BKK-NRT?
Food on NH domestic J class looks wonderful and that bowl of soup (I think?) looks interesting. I guess it is Miso Soup?
On HND-BKK, regarding your comments about the seat beside you being taken, I have never been on any TG J flights with an empty seat beside me, being it SIN-BKK, BKK-DXB, BKK-PVG or the other way round.
It's also great to see you having the new A333 on BKK-CGK!
Regards,
Daniel
P.S. Didn't you have an SQ Suites flight to LAX on your roster at the end of August? I notice it was not listed on your future trips.

Thanks for the TR.
I've had two legs on TG in the last couple of weeks including the A345 to LAX. I was actually quite disappointed with the premium product on such a flagship route. I was more satisfied with the J-class product and service on my intra-Asia leg.

Quoting SASDC8 (Reply 2): Congratulation! No more TG C lounge for you then
Yes, actually i was more excited of the fact i can always use the F lounge now, actually this is the most important part for me rather than the unlimited expiry on miles!
Quoting SASDC8 (Reply 2): Not to worry. It is only the 6 oldest that will be decomissoned in 2012-2015. The 12 newer ones will be kept in the fleet and the 7442s will get new interiors in all 3 classes
So basically my usual 7443 will be decommissioned and the Scandinavian 7442 will have all new interiors? Any news on what they will use on board and when will the retrofitting start?
Quoting SASDC8 (Reply 2): All thanks to the lounge in BKK
All women inc my wife loves the lounge!
THanks for reading Stein!
Quoting MSS658 (Reply 3): Nice trip report, TG's 744 looks very comfortable up front
Thanks for reading!

Hi Carfield! One thing good about TG is that i noticed they are one of the rare airlines now that seldom do cutbacks on inflight catering.
Quoting initious (Reply 5): You should fly on their A345s and A346s now as they are getting phased out soon!
Been flying them so much, do not mind the A346 F cabin, but really do not like the A345 first gen J seats, they are just pure torture.
Quoting initious (Reply 5): The amenity kit in TG F looks wonderful, if only I could have one of those!
I have tons! PM me your address in S,pore and i will mail one to you. It will be a local mail from Singapore as every week one of my directors shuttle between S,pore and Jkt, so i can get her to pass it to my assistant in Sing and mail it out to you.
Quoting initious (Reply 5): Didn't you have an SQ Suites flight to LAX on your roster at the end of August? I notice it was not listed on your future trips.
Yes i did, but since i have 900,000+ miles on Asia Miles, decided to do a redemption on CX F suites to LAX. But my family will still fly the A380 to LAX in J.

Like it was mentioned many times before, even I dread the first gen J seats, you really can't sleep on them. Whereas on the intra Asia legs, theres a high chance you will get the B773 with 2nd gen lie flats, or the new A333 with same 2nd gen seats.

They were supposed to start this year with the 7442s, but that has been postponed until 2012-2013. All six will get the same First class seats (or close to) as one the new TG 380, which is set for delivery in August 2012.
Business on these six former Scandinavia crusers will go fully flat
TG will keep 6 7473s just for your pleasure, but they will get new Y seats which you will never get to see

Quoting thaia345 (Reply 9): Stein, interested to be on that 1st flight? Will most probably be LHR
It will be FRA or LHR for their first long haul operation, but hey will fly it around the region for crew training first. SIN, NRT and HKG have all been mentioned as potential first flights. Guess we'll have to wait and see
I would of course love to be on their inaugural flight with the 380
