Introduction
Liebe fellow A.netters,
Do you know the feeling of making a commitment after being affected by a personal event?
Believe it or not, even though the A.net meeting on last 9th July in Frankfurt was music to my ears, I was in two minds about my participation.
Firstly, an important exam in June was claiming most of my attention. Secondly, my first A.net meeting ever on 12th July 2010 in Paris got smashed up because Air France decided to deploy the A380 elsewhere on that particular day, most probably for the sake of World Cup. Thankfully, I met P. (FlyingFinn76) and Tim (Vandenheuvel).
Then came the turning point. It was the heartbreaking news of departed Sandeep (AI151) on 20th May 2011.
I was devastated as couple weeks earlier, Sandeep unfolded his plan to come over for a visit along with his girlfriend. Something I was looking forward to, meeting both of them together personally, would never happen. Never…
The sad event did set me thinking about 9th July.
My conscious spoke to me, ‘Suryo, you cannot look into the future. If you really want to meet your fellow A.netters in reality, 9th July will be your first upcoming chance to do so,’
‘That is right. But my first upcoming chance? Well, that is not entirely true!’
I had another meeting earlier in February on invitation of Hannah (Infodesk) as she and her husband were in Amsterdam. Eric (Airbuseric) was in on it as well. Thanks to Hannah, it was my first time to get together with Eric outside A.net forum.
Oh, do you know that Hannah even provided Eric and me each with a Swiss most favorite chocolate bar at the end of our gathering?
Mahony. Thank you, Hannah!
I cut the knot, ‘I am coming to FRA, no matter by train or by air!’
Well, to be honest, the last option did matter! Thanks to Eric, I decided on Lufthansa.
How about enlisting services of an online travel agent for a change?
On several occasions it turned out to be cheaper to book a package with an agent like Vliegfabriek than separate airline and hotel arrangements. For EUR 189, a LH return flight to FRA and an overnight stay with breakfast at Manhattan Hotel were secured for me.
‘Why Manhattan Hotel?’
‘Due to price, location and guest reviews. The lower price was a courtesy of Vliegfabriek,’
‘How about the remaining?’ ‘
‘TripAdvisor!’
Lufthansa and Miles & More
Though my first acquaintance with LH dates back to 2008, somehow I never paid enough attention to what LH website really has on offer. Let’s change the situation, shall we?
What do you think about dark yellow banner on top of webpage? Attractive and distinguishable. You become aware that you are visiting a LH website. Do you wish to visit your local website or are you curious about other local sites? Change your interface. All countries on LH’s network are represented. Alternatively, you can visit the global website.
So, what can you expect as a LH customer, especially when you have your booking arranged by a travel agent?
First of all, are you a member of LH frequent flyer program Miles & More? Then, let’s see what you have got once you are logged in. No display of your booking? Insert your booking number and it will be automatically registered in your list.
What else?
What do you think of advanced seat selection? This feature is however available if your reservation is set on higher Economy or premium fares. In case you book a lower Y class like me, you can state your seat preference in your profile. Furthermore, you can express your meal preference, update your API or request an upgrade. Comparable to Emirates and Skywards, the features are accessible from both LH and Miles & More member page.
Online check in
As Eric has mentioned in his report, Martijn (CrimsonNL) notified us about the load of our flight from Amsterdam. Only one open seat in Business. Y would be packed to the brim.
Knowing what to expect, I tried my luck at 20.20, though LH website advises that online check-in becomes available 23 hours prior to departure time. In my case, it would not be earlier than 21.15.
Online check-in homepage
Identify yourself with either FF card, credit card, German bank card, booking reference or ticket number. I opted for booking reference.
Identification page by booking reference
Once inserting my booking code, I hit ‘Continue’ button and waited anxiously whether I got through. Well, what do you know?
16A was pre-assigned for me
It was indeed worth trying a bit earlier than advised check-in time. But wait! 16A? I had to switch!
30F, last row window seat. Who might inspire me?
Then it was about obtaining my boarding pass.
Tick one of the bullets off. Printout or mobile?
Sieh mal!
My boarding pass printout
At the end, my final destination, departure gate, boarding time and baggage drop-off counter were confirmed both on my printout and computer screen.
Check-in confirmation
Perhaps to assure that I made no mistake about the details. Thank you LH, I appreciated it.

Amsterdam Airport Schiphol
So much I was looking forward to 9th July, so little I realized that I was actually staring at my flight status on one of many FIDS’s at Schiphol Plaza.
FIDS with expected check-in desk 8 for my flight
“What? Ten minutes delay?” A girl shouted from behind my back and brought me down to earth.
A Vueling flight to Palma was obviously running ten minute late. With cacophony of the girl and her girlfriends’ voices, there was no doubt about them being passengers of that flight.
‘But why such excitement about ten minute delay?’ I wondered.
My watch showed 17.35. Abundant two hours before boarding time.
‘What shall we do now?’
Starbucks outlet
‘Having a Vanilla Caffè Latte like P. at Starbucks?’ My conscious suggested.
‘No thanks. I am not really into it,’
‘Dropping in at the aviation store?’
‘That might sound better,’
Former undercarriage of a KLM DC-10
‘Now what?’
‘How about going to the panorama terrace and discover the new eye-catcher there?’
‘Great idea!’
Signage

The stair happens to be a sole direct access from Schiphol Plaza to the panorama terrace.
Free admission
Once outside, a smell of jet fuel tickled my senses. ‘Hey, what have we got there?’
Another eye-catchers. Tulips and a spotted cow. No milk today?
Finally on roof top, I could feast my eyes. For me, the spotting session started already in AMS.

‘Hey? Where has the eye-catcher got to? Ah, there you are!’

‘All right. Let’s see what we have got from this side!’

‘Suryo, do you not think it is about time to exchange your printout to a real one?’ My conscious reminded me.
‘Oh yes! Time to go to the check-in desk, no, check-in kiosk! An advantage of traveling only with hand luggage!’
Airport check in
There were three self-service kiosks on the opposite of check-in row 8. I made a beeline for one of them.
Self-service kiosk
I inserted my passport in the slot. Nothing happened. The kiosk was apparently out of service.
‘How about the other two?’
‘The same old story!’
‘Perhaps, I have to go to the desk anyway?’ I turned around.
Long queues at row 8
‘I am not too keen to queue up. Then, no real stub this time. Bummer!’
I made my way to the security and could not believe my eyes.
Even longer queue and advised waiting time
Since last December 2007 at London Heathrow Terminal 3, I had never seen such a long line before security.
Still some people in front of me
We moved forward gradually.
Update of advised waiting time
People everywhere. “Stop following me?” Sorry, I have to!
‘Can you rely on the advised times?’ My conscious wondered.
‘Let’s see where I end up some five minutes later!’
Crowd behind me. What do you think?
One remarkably positive thing was that no one was complaining. The whole process was civilized. Kudos to my fellow passengers!
Security booth in sight. Yay!
A ticket control was conducted. I was legal to proceed!
Then, you shall see that I chose the wrong line. Elderly couple in front me were alright, but I could not say the same thing about middle-aged couple further up front.
The lady of the middle-aged couple was not prepared at all for the screening. She had to take everything out of her hand bag, remove her bracelet, take off her shoes and so on and so on. In the meantime, her husband was ready to go through X-ray. Then another surprise came out of the lady’s handbag… a bottle of wine!
The elderly couple and I looked briefly at each other. We did not exchange words, but our eyes spoke volumes. To our relief, the security official did not allow any further discussion and send back the middle-aged couple to have their wine checked in.
When it was the elderly couple’s move, they did not have any problem to pass the security as expected.
Well, how about me?
‘Oh, I have a bottle of whisky in my hand luggage! … Just kidding!’
Half an hour queuing up, I was airside.

Airside FIDS. My gate B27 remained unchanged
It was 18.55. Still some fifty minutes before boarding time and I was thirsty.
‘How about dropping in somewhere in Lounge 1?’ My conscious suggested.
‘Good idea! Let’s see if I can get a big glass of cold beer somewhere,’
Lounge 1 overview
However, something else drew my attention.

Belated, I noticed a message from Eric. He was wondering where I was hanging out.
Somehow, I figured out it would be better to lessen my thirst at B pier, so I texted him back that I was on my way to a Grabandfly outlet there. It was a rather long walk with enough distractions.
TAP CS-TTL
LH D-AIQP. Could it be our bird?
Iberia EC-JQZ, dedicated to Markus (FLIEGER67). Did you not fly her on 19th May 2008?
Finally at Grabandfly, for EUR 4,50 a big glass of Heineken was at my disposal. Can you imagine how refreshing it was after not having any single drop since I left my office at 15.30?
My Heineken
Another message came in from Eric that he would be at B pier within fifteen minutes. Grabandfly is located around the corner, so I should not miss him.
As Eric was yet nowhere to see once I finished my drink, I decided to walk further towards B27.
B pier corridor. ‘Hey, is the clock malfunctioning or am I too early?’
Something told me that I had to look back. What do you know? I spotted someone familiar in a pink shirt. There was Eric!
Chit-chatting, we made our way together to B27. Martijn was already there waiting for us.
Gate B27
“Martijn is upgraded!” Eric remarked as he consulted his mobile phone.
“What a lucky guy!” I replied.
“Hey, I have to come to the counter. I will see you later,”
“All right!”
I got the feeling that Eric must have been upgraded too.
Anyway, since I did not expect anything, I explored the gate area.
Gate screen. Wow, is that Amharic?
Holding area
Silly me! I was too occupied with my surroundings that I did not notice a message from Martijn that he was arranging an upgrade for me and wondering whether an aisle seat would be alright. The upgrade was not confirmed yet at that time.
I came down to earth by Martijn’s second message. ‘Suryo, please come to the counter!’
‘Who am I to say no?’ I thought.
“Look what we have got for you!” Martijn handed a real LH boarding stub over to me once I got to the counter.
Fellows, I believe Eric that I was indeed smiling while receiving the stub.
My new boarding pass with new seat assignment 1C!
I was in cloud nine. Not just because of the real stub, I was upgraded as well!
“Thank you so much! I am… speechless!”
“You should thank him,” Martijn pointed at Jelle, LH Duty Manager.
Jelle is apparently a loyal trip report reader. He arranged Eric and me the upgrade after Martijn told him about us. How about that?
I just had to shake Jelle’s hand. “Thank you so much. I really appreciate your nice gesture,”
“My pleasure!” Jelle replied.
What a charming guy!
Since Jelle had to help his colleague gate agent Aida with other passenger inquires, The Three Musketeers (Eric, Martijn and me) decided to convene our own meeting. Next to the window, that is to say! Three spotters annex trip reporters, what else to expect?
D-AIQP was eventually not our bird. Instead, sister ship D-AIQF pulled in ten minutes late at 19.55.
D-AIQF
Jelle came on the microphone, “Due to late incoming aircraft, we will start our boarding after fifteen minutes,”
Sighs and moans echoed around us.
‘People, it is only fifteen minutes!’ I thought.
Boarding
At 20.10, Jelle kept his promise. As soon as he made the boarding call, almost everyone got up and soon enough a queue was formed before the air bridge.
Boarding crowd
“Do you want to go on board now or later on?” Martijn asked.
“Later on,” Both Eric and I replied.
Some five minutes later as the line subsided, The Three Musketeers moved on.
“Have a pleasant flight,” Aida smiled as boarding pass reader beeped my admission.
Martijn had to bid farewell to Jelle while Eric proceeded to the air bridge. And me? Most probably getting too excited about what about the view that Martijn overtook me.
Air bridge view
It had been eleven months ago since I flew LH. My excitement was getting stronger as beautiful dark blue colored ‘L’ on the fuselage came closer.
Before entrance. Can you spot Martijn?
Complimentary German and English newspapers were provided on the trolley. Well, even though there would be Dutch newspapers around, I would skip them anyway as I was too occupied by other things.
Newspaper trolley
Since I was among the last passengers to board, Aida came down the air bridge to settle last paper works.
A remark of Aida however attracted my attention, “Well, he just wants to take pictures as souvenir,”
‘Hmm, could any passenger behind me be questioning my photo-taking?’ I wondered.
A warm “Good evening,” from Purser Mr. Rohne and his colleague flight attendant Mrs. Muest greeted me as I entered the cabin.
“Good evening. I am happy to be on board of Lufthansa again,” I made no secret of my excitement.
“That is nice to hear,” Mrs. Muest smiled as she waived me on to the new LH European comfort.
Since the inauguration of the new concept on LH website, I was eager to experience the interior. It was love at first sight!
Martijn and Eric already made themselves comfortable on their assigned 1A and 2A. 1C was waiting there for me, but instead I got ready to occupy 1D.
“Are you not supposed to be here?” Martijn rightly pointed at 1C.
“Oh yes, of course!” I realized my mistake.
Being the last one on board meant that there was no space left in overhead locker in my neighborhood. As I desperately looked around for any gap, Mr. Rohne opened lower compartment on the opposite of my row and beckoned me to stow my hand luggage there. Thank you, Mr. Rohne!
Legroom. My hand luggage was nicely kept inside the compartment
Boarding completed at 20.20. I counted eleven passengers occupying three J rows.
Once the 1L door was closed, Mr. Rohne made a welcome announcement including our flight time of forty five minutes. In the meantime, Mrs. Muest took charge of newspaper distribution. I politely declined her offer.
Captain Essert came on the microphone to introduce himself and to announce that we would experience a further ten minute delay due to ATC restriction.
Mrs. Muest stopped by again with an array of magazines. Very nice of her, but again I had to say, “No, thank you,”
Manual safety demonstration followed with Mrs. Muest in charge of live performance in our cabin.
What I found interesting was once the instructions in German finished, Mrs. Muest moved to the opening of the cabin divider, in front of Y cabin, for similar instructions in English. Efficient, I would say!
At 20.35, humming CFM56 engines and audible sounds of hydraulics marked our pushback. D-AIQF was bound for FRA.
Taxi and take off
‘What should I do know without window view?’
‘How about exploring your surrounding?’ My conscious suggested.
New button with Christian name of D-AIQF on bottom right
Cabin button
‘How about the content of your seat pocket?’
Safety card
Lufthansa magazin and WorldShop guide
D-AIQF was somewhat accelerating. As soon as I returned the content of my seat pocket, a powerful take-off followed. The thrust made me somewhat glued to my seat.
Martijn was glued to the window
D-AIQF lifted off at 20.40.
In flight
Fasten seat belt signs were switched off some five minutes later.
‘How about a closer look at my sanctuary?’
My seat. Is it not elegant?
Elbow room
The front curtain was drawn, as Mr. Rohne and Mrs. Muest had to prepare the meal. As it was Friday evening, most passengers were obviously tired of the week.
Backward cabin view
Opposite neighbor view. Note the coat hanger
The curtain was opened. It was feeding time!
Meal trolley. Do you not like the LH logo on it?
Mr. Muest was in charge of meal distribution. As I sat directly within her arm reach, she proceeded to open my tray table and put a meal tray on it.
Nice and practical design
As Eric has mentioned on his report, the meal was created by star chef Heiko Antoniewicz. A mini menu card was included to inform us about creation elements.

‘Let’s take a closer look!’
Salmon cannelloni on bean salad
Sundried tomato cottage cheese with grilled vegetables
Fruity pineapple pastry
Mr. Rohne soon appeared with drink trolley.
Drink trolley. I cannot get enough of LH letters
“What would you like to drink?” Mr. Rohne asked me.
“Can I have beer, please?”
“Certainly. And how about you?” Mr. Rohne turned to Martijn.
“Can I also have beer, please?”
“Certainly,”
My beer. A bottle was served along with a glass
“I just have to order beer as LH always serves a real bottle and not a can,” I said to Martijn.
Martijn agreed completely.
‘Warsteiner, eine Köningin unter den Bieren‘ A queen among the beers and it showed!
‘How about the meal?’
‘Well, I can tell you this. The grilled vegetables nicely absorbed combined sour taste of sundried tomato and cottage cheese. Maybe just because I love eggplants! Bean salad on the other side would have been bland without company of salmon cannelloni. The salmon itself was heaven. Very intense and flavorful!’
‘How about the bread?’
‘It was not warm, but still soft from inside. With some spreads of accompanying butter, it was okay!’
‘And the pastry?’
‘Lovely! Not to sweet, moist and crumbly, really to my liking!’
I just finished my meal, when Mrs. Muest returned to J cabin and offered last drink round before descent.
As you might read earlier, Eric, Martijn and Mr. 2C opted for Baileys. On the other hand, I decided on whisky.
My whisky
“Shall I take a picture of three of you?” Mrs. Muest suggested.
“Oh, sure! Thank you!” The Three Musketeers replied simultaneously.
Soon enough, The Three Musketeers were immortalized by Martijn’s camera. Thank you, Mrs. Muest!
Time really flew. Before I knew, Captain Essert announced our descent to FRA. At 21.20, fasten seat belt signs were illuminated.
I agreed with Eric that our LH flight was just too short.
Landing and disembarking
Full break applied as D-AIQF touched down at newly designated 07C-25C runway.
At 21.30, D-AIQF came to a stop. Unbuckling sound of seatbelts echoed as everyone got off and prepared for disembarkation.
Mrs. Muest retrieved my hand luggage.
“Oh, it is very light!” She remarked as she handed it over to me.
I grinned.
While waiting the air bridge to be connected, Mrs. Muest struck up a conversation.
“Are you passing through or is Frankfurt your final destination?”
“Frankfurt is my destination this time. Three of us will have a meeting tomorrow at the airport,”
“I see. Then, enjoy your stay in Frankfurt,”
Once the 1L was opened, I just had to shake the hand of both Mrs. Muest and Mr. Rhone before going down to the air bridge. “Thank you,”
As Eric pointed out in his report, that D-AIQF was docked at the famous gate A01. Fellow A.netter Nils (Sultanils) also knows something about it.

Believe it or not, after ticket control, I was the only one going through the security booth manned by all in all five officials. With no one else around, I became subject to swipe test like Eric (Airbuseric) after the regular security check.
The whole process took about five minutes. It was not that bad. Even though I was curious about the purpose of the swipe test, I did not dare to ask.
Nevertheless, I would give the officials their genuine attitude. While pushing the elevator button, one official said, “Please go to the second level. Have a pleasant flight,”
How about that?

The queues for secutirty in AMS looks pretty bad. 20+ minutes isn't really acceptable in a major quality airport like AMS. Nice that you got the upgrade, although on a 45 minute flight, Y also probably would have been ok!

‘No thanks! It is better this way!’
I was enjoying my view so much that I completely forgot to drop in at Lufthansa WorldShop outlet, until Daniel asked me about it once I got home .
Boarding
Couple minutes before advised boarding time, I queued up.
Quick boarding gate. Where else?
‘Hey, what is that? Let see if my hand luggage indeed meets the requirement,’
Hand luggage measurement. What do you think?
“Please,” the gate agent waved her arm at bang 16.15.
‘Blip’! I was legal to proceed.
I did not know why, but again other passengers overtook me even I was among the first one.
I was kind of expecting a finger gate, but I got funny feeling as we further walked downstairs and finally turned right. It was a bus gate!
Our bus
As I got on the bus, I somehow kept Eric (Airbuseric)’s advice in my mind and took a seat on the left side. I did not clearly remember whether it was only applicable for Sky Line or also for the bus.
Interior
As we hit the road, I did not regret my view couple minutes later. Thanks, Eric.

No problem whatsoever with photography on the tarmac. Burj and Buck3y3nut can also confirm this, I suppose.
Once I walked up the staircase, I just had to make a couple of farewell shots.
“Good afternoon,” Flight attendants Mrs. Grochulski and Mrs. Muller greeted me with a warm smile.
“Good afternoon. It is nice to meet you,” I replied.
I was delighted as European Comfort cabin welcomed me past the aft lavatory.
Right side row 30. Window seat for me
I had to jot down something before I got seated.
“Are you writing a diary?” Mrs. Muller caught me by surprise.
“Oh, yes,” I smiled back though felt busted.
“Oh, that is nice,”
Ample legroom. Note the position of magazine pocket
30A was occupied as well.
My neighbor view
Last row window seat worked out well! I got the whole row at my disposal.
29C, D, E and F were occupied by a group of two guys and girls. They had apparently made a night of it as Mr. 29C suddenly had all armrests folded up on his side and was just lying across the seats. But not for long as Mrs. Grochulski came along and woke him up.
Although 2L door was closed, boarding was not yet completed.
Handling agent waiting for the next load
Finally, more passengers trickled in.
Cabin view during second boarding
A couple claimed 29A and 29B, so no more lying about again for Mr. 29C.
Boarding completed at 16.45. Captain Smith introduced himself and his colleagues on the microphone and advised our flight time of fifty five minutes.
Manual safety demonstration followed. Mrs. Grochulski took charge of live performance in our cabin. Just like Mrs. Muest on our inbound flight, Mrs. Schröder appeared from J cabin in front of the cabin divider for instructions in English.
‘Yes, you can still consult the safety card!’

In flight
Just past 17.00, fasten seat belt signs were switched off. Everyone made himself comfortable for the short flight.
Miss 29D demonstrating the new seat in reclining position
Mrs. Muller appeared with a drink trolley, followed by Mrs. Grochulski with the meal trolley.
Mrs. Grochulski and Mrs. Muller attending passengers at front Y rows
Meal distribution was quick. Before I knew, Mrs. Grucholski’s reached my row.
“Here you are,” She passed a meal box and a napkin with a smile.
“Thank you,”
Surprisingly, it was the similar one to what Eric and Martijn got served on their later flight.
’Be invited’ by LH
‘Let’s have a look what might be inside,’
Pasta salad with chicken meatballs
Pre-packed sesame crostini’s and smart idea of folded plastic fork
I agreed with Eric about the taste. The salad was fresh, while rich flavored chicken meatballs saw to extra bite.
In the meantime, Mrs. Grochulski was assisting Mrs. Muller. Mrs. Schröder joined them in Y cabin.
I overheard an interesting conversation of Mrs. Muller and a couple of 29A and 29B.
One of them asked a question to which Mrs. Muller replied, “No, no, it is free,”
‘Could the couple be connecting from a certain LH’s partner, let say SK or Spanair?’ I wondered.
As Mrs. Grochulski was about to attend my row, an announcement came that we were leaving the cruising altitude.
‘That soon?’ I was kind of disappointed. ‘It was just 17.20!’
“Can I offer you something to drink?” Mrs. Grochulski asked me again with a lovely smile.
“Can I have beer, please?” I cheered up.
“Beer? Sure,” Mrs. Grochulski beckoned Mrs. Muller to prepare my drink.
“Here you are. Enjoy!”
‘How caring!’
My serving. Note separate bottle and glass holders
‘Warsteiner! I had to upgrade my snack, did I not?’
Unfortunately, I had to quickly finish my beer and return them to Mrs. Grochulski since fasten seat belt signs were illuminated for a while.
Landing
The nice weather allowed me a great view during the descent.

Suddenly, I heard some rummaging.
“Please sit here and fasten your seat belt,” Mrs. Muller ushered an airsick female passenger to 30C.
It looked like she was spending most of the cruising time inside one of the lavatories.
‘Poor woman!’ I thought as her sickness seemed to worsen at every movement of D-AIQN.
Unexpectedly, Mr. 29C turned to the woman and said, “I have got medicines against airsickness if you want,”
His gesture made me smile. ‘He is not that indifferent after all!’
I turned back to my window.

Disembarking
The farewell announcement of Mrs. Schwed was concluded with something interesting, “Please keep your passport ready. There will be passport control at the gate,”
As long as I could remember, I never experienced such procedure when traveling through AMS Schengen area.
As 2L was opened, the group of four were preparing to disembark through 2L. They were soon directed to 1L.
“Que pena!” Miss 29D remarked loudly as she turned around.
‘Ah, ah, sweetheart, how inconvenient!’ I thought.
Before leaving, I just had to shake Mrs. Grochulski and Mrs. Muller by the hand, “Thank you,”
“You are welcome,” Both of them broadly smiled.
Mrs. Schwed and Mrs. Schröder were waiting before 1L.
Although they were mostly serving J passengers, I shook their hand as well, “Thank you,”
“Thank you for flying with us,” Both Mrs. Schwed and Mrs. Schröder smiled at me.
Fellows, their reaction really warmed my heart.
Bye LH. Thank you for everything
“Are you the last one?” asked the official after a glance at my passport.
“Yes, I think so,”
“All right, then.”

‘Oh, here we go again!’ I thought.
“Where are you coming from?” Mr. Sallam asked in a rather stern voice.
“Frankfurt,”
“And before Frankfurt?”
“Frankfurt was my origin,”
“Can you come with me, please?” Mr. Sallam beckoned me to follow him to a screened area.
“Can I see your boarding pass?”
“Can I see your ticket?” Mr. Sallam demanded as he was apparently not yet satisfied with my boarding pass.
Once my ticket was examined, I was waived on without any single word.
Though I did not mind such control, but why I only noticed dark skinned passengers around me during the formality? Oh well, maybe it was just me.
Conclusion
First of all, I would like to thank my fellows who organized the meeting. Daniel, PH, Eric (Airbuseric), Markus, can I give you the credit?
Then I wish to thank LH for the wonderful return trip:
Martijn, Jelle, thank you for the upgrade; Mr. Rohne, Mrs. Muest, Mrs. Grochulski, Mrs. Muller, Mrs. Schröder, Mrs. Schwed, thank you for making me feel at home in the air; Captain Essert, Captain Smith, thank you for the save flights.
I have fallen in love again with LH!
Furthermore, I wish to thank CaptainRed, Christoph, eco, P., Eric (IberiaA319), Marius, Johannes and his brother, LXM83, makeree, Robert, Marc, Blaž and SPLTA for a great companion in FRA.
Apart from trip reports of Eric (Airbuseric) and Eric (IberiaA319) I have mentioned earlier, how about reading trip reports of other fellows about this occasion?

Hi Suryo,
I was waiting for this report.
You can always turn a usual flight in an amazing TR, which is a great pleasure to read.
This time again with many high quality pictures.
The service on LH in both C and Y class seemed to be nice for this short time of flying.
It was very nice to meet you in FRA and I hope we can meet up sometime again in the future.
Thank you a lot for sharing this outstanding piece.
Cheers

Hi Suryo,
what an excellent report you once again delivered, simply amazing! I highly enjoyed reading, thanks for taking the time to create this report.
And let me tell you again that it was a great pleasure meeting you at FRA!
Quoting akhmad (Thread starter): Jelle is apparently a loyal trip report reader. He arranged Eric and me the upgrade after Martijn told him about us. How about that?
Very good start!
Quoting akhmad (Thread starter):
As Eric has mentioned on his report, the meal was created by star chef Heiko Antoniewicz. A mini menu card was included to inform us about creation elements.
Wow, that meal looks delicious.
Quoting akhmad (Thread starter): ‘Warsteiner, eine Köningin unter den Bieren‘ A queen among the beers and it showed!
Thank you, Suryo! It's my favorite A380 out there.
Quoting akhmad (Thread starter): The spotting session continued after lunch with welcomed companion of SPLTA and legendary PlaneHunter.
Quoting akhmad (Thread starter): Too bad, the time was up. It was my turn to bid farewell. As Eric (Airbuseric) has mentioned, I had to leave earlier to catch my onward train connections from AMS.
It's too bad we didn't have more time to talk about our hobby, but maybe next time?
Quoting akhmad (Reply 6): Pasta salad with chicken meatballs
Very nice snack!
Quoting akhmad (Thread starter): First of all, I would like to thank my fellows who organized the meeting.
Daniel, PH, Eric (Airbuseric), Markus, can I give you the credit?
I obviously don't know this travel agent, but it can pay to shop around, sometimes agents are cheaper than airlines direct!
Quoting akhmad (Reply 1): PH-OFE. Is she not beautiful?
Indeed so! Can you go inside? Unfortunately my next 2 visits to AMS will be too short to visit the terrace myself
Quoting akhmad (Reply 1): Since last December 2007 at London Heathrow Terminal 3
That is a very long queue, and like you my longest was at LHR, T2 this time.

Sure, perfect reminder, Suryo.
Quoting akhmad (Thread starter): The most exciting moment came. Meeting my fellow A.netters in reality! Apart from Eric (Airbuseric) and Martijn, I had the pleasure to meet eco, CaptainRed and our European ambassador Markus. Markus jr. did not come along as he decided to stay at home for his grandfather’s birthday. But, is it not sweet of him?

Hi Suryo,
incredible report with so much details, great job.
Quoting akhmad (Thread starter): For EUR 189, a LH return flight to FRA and an overnight stay with breakfast at Manhattan Hotel were secured for me.
That is a nice deal.
Quoting akhmad (Thread starter): I was in cloud nine. Not just because of the real stub, I was upgraded as well!
I know that feeling, it is great that Martijn and Jelle were able to get all three of you up front.
Quoting akhmad (Thread starter): Do you believe me if it was my first time disembarking in FRA?
Great photos from the airport, it reminds me of what a great place it is. I did the same thing you did when you arrived, visit one of the check-in kiosks and printed my boarding pass for the return flight. It is so simple nowadays, especially when traveling without checked luggage.
Quoting akhmad (Thread starter): Conveniently located within one minute walk from the main station of Frankfurt am Main
Thank you, Suryo, for taking part in that great sunny Saturday at Frankfurt, I think I will remember that day every time I will pass through Frankfurt airport. What a great place

Hi Suryo!
Great tripreport, really well written. Too bad about the long security queue at AMS, those kind of thinks are always annoying. You really seem pleased with your flights with LH, and also nice that you got an upgrade on the outbound flight. Manhattan Hotel looks like a nice facility, that breakfast looks great.

Hi Suryo!
Another great trip report full of detail and plenty of photos. It seems that you all had a great day out at FRA and getting the upgrade on the outbound journey was a bonus. I would have liked to join you all but was on another visit to the Hansestadt and at least my thoughts were with you.
But I notice that you have started talking to your self. Is this new? Should we be worried? In all seriousness, it makes for a very entertaining reading style.

Hi Suryo,
A wonderful report! Food and service on LH looks wonderful, I'll definitely consider flying them in the future!
Quoting akhmad (Thread starter): Believe it or not, even though the A.net meeting on last 9th July in Frankfurt was music to my ears, I was in two minds about my participation.
I'm glad you chose to go!
Quoting akhmad (Thread starter): Then came the turning point. It was the heartbreaking news of departed Sandeep (AI151) on 20th May 2011.
It's already been 2 months. Talk about time flies!
Quoting akhmad (Thread starter): I was devastated as couple weeks earlier, Sandeep unfolded his plan to come over for a visit along with his girlfriend. Something I was looking forward to, meeting both of them together personally, would never happen. Never…
We were talking about how I can visit him in London after my army too, in 2013.
Quoting akhmad (Thread starter): I cut the knot, ‘I am coming to FRA, no matter by train or by air!’
Once again, glad you chose to go by air!
Quoting akhmad (Reply 1): ‘Dropping in at the aviation store?’
Mandatory for a.netters!
Quoting akhmad (Reply 1): How about going to the panorama terrace and discover the new eye-catcher there?
This is something to attract me to AMS!
Quoting akhmad (Reply 1): Tail shot of PH-OFE. I had always wanted to do it from this angle
Looks wonderful!
Quoting akhmad (Reply 2): “Look what we have got for you!” Martijn handed a real LH boarding stub over to me once I got to the counter.
Very kind of him and Jelle!
Quoting akhmad (Reply 2): Jelle came on the microphone, “Due to late incoming aircraft, we will start our boarding after fifteen minutes,”
Sighs and moans echoed around us.
‘People, it is only fifteen minutes!’ I thought.
Happens all the time doesn't it.
Quoting akhmad (Reply 2): It had been eleven months ago since I flew LH. My excitement was getting stronger as beautiful dark blue colored ‘L’ on the fuselage came closer.
Looks wonderful. Wonder how many of their fleet has been retrofitted already?
Quoting akhmad (Reply 3): “Are you not supposed to be here?” Martijn rightly pointed at 1C.
“Oh yes, of course!” I realized my mistake.
You must be too excited!
Quoting akhmad (Reply 3): As I desperately looked around for any gap, Mr. Rohne opened lower compartment on the opposite of my row and beckoned me to stow my hand luggage there.
Very kind of him!
Quoting akhmad (Reply 3): The front curtain was drawn,
I always thought it would be a curtain that goes across the aisle like those on airlines with "proper" business class. However, I guess this design makes it easier to move it around.
Quoting akhmad (Reply 4): Do you believe me if it was my first time disembarking in FRA?
I had to read twice to reconfirm that I am reading it correctly!
Quoting akhmad (Reply 5): Tanja was more than happy to provide me a big glass of German Weizen. I could hardly believe the price, EUR 3,50! Try that at any hotel in Netherlands.
That's pretty cheap! No hotels or even neighbourhood stores offer it at such a cheap price here.
Quoting akhmad (Reply 5): The breakfast bar is located around the corner.
You are making me hungry!
Quoting akhmad (Reply 6): As we made our way to the visitor terrace, Daniel, Marc (MSS658), Johannes (Luxair747SP) and his brother were joining us. P., makeree, Marius (Luftfahrer), Blaž (SloAir), LXM83, Robert (MD11Bob) and Christoph (ContactAir) were waiting outside already.
This is making me jealous. :P
Quoting akhmad (Reply 6): Can you imagine flying with her all the way from Yemen?
In business maybe, definitely not in economy! Would make an interesting TR though.
Quoting akhmad (Reply 6): I remarked to Christoph, “We are here the whole day and no sight of retro livery,”
Well, speaking of the devil…
If only that happens to me.
Quoting akhmad (Reply 6): Even though I was curious about the purpose of the swipe test, I did not dare to ask.
What is that about?
Quoting akhmad (Reply 8): As soon as we came to a stop, the doors slid open. Everyone looked eager to get off. Me too, but for something extra.
I always rush for the first to board when flying AK, for the same reason.
Quoting akhmad (Reply 10): “Are you writing a diary?” Mrs. Muller caught me by surprise.
Did you tell her about your intentions? :P
Quoting akhmad (Reply 11): Fellows, do you remember where my spotting session was started? Well, I figured out that it would be appropriate to finish it there.
Nice, normally I exit the airport immediately after arrival.

Well, what can I say? Another truly excellent report from start to finish about what was obviously a very enjoyable a.net meet. Amd memorable of course, not least thanks to the upgrade you enjoyed
Quoting akhmad (Thread starter): Secondly, my first A.net meeting ever on 12th July 2010 in Paris got smashed up because Air France decided to deploy the A380 elsewhere on that particular day, most probably for the sake of World Cup.
Yes, that really was a shame that AF mucked that day up.
