Purpose of Trip
It’s the major holiday season in Indonesian whereby Muslims celebrate the end of Ramadhan and all offices are closed for about 10 days. For non-Muslims like myself, its time to enjoy a nice holiday with my family. This time I also decided to spoil myself and indulge on 3 different private jets within the US. For my flights to the US, it will be a combination of both CX in F and GA in J. Please enjoy!

Arrived at the airport about 1.5hrs before scheduled departure. For the peak travel season, the airport itself wasn't overly crowded. After check in I just relaxed in the Garuda Lounge till boarding was called.

Soon after reaching cruising altitude, meals we served, although not that great in taste, it was now much better in terms of presentation, Garuda is indeed making the right steps forwards on all aspects.
Watched a movie on my iPad before I took a nap and i woke up as usual just a few minutes before start of descend. Overall a flawless flight with Garuda in terms of both the soft and hard products.
Nice views of Hong Kong

Preflight
After another short but fantastic stay at the W Hong Kong, I soon find myself back again at my favorite airport, HKIA.
F check in was swift and both security and immigration took me no less than 5mins to clear. I decided to do some spotting before having lunch at one of the airside restaurants before spending the rest of my time at the Wing First Class lounge till boarding was called.
HKIA is one of the best airports for spotters and views of aircraft
In between all that of course I also bought cigarettes at duty free and made few trips to the smoking room.

Boarding about to commence
Inflight
A pleasant and cheerful crew greeted me onboard. Actually in all my years of flying I have yet to see a lackluster crew to LAX and that goes for CX, SQ and TG. Flight is about 90% full but only 4 out of 6 seats taken up in F.

Settling in for the long haul
Could not get a really good sleep with me basically getting an hour here and there.
Woke up to this and so decided to have a mid night meal ☺
How I envy my fellow F pax whom all slept right after take off and woke up 2 hours before landing.
After the midnight supper, I managed to get about another 3 hours of sleep and soon service for breakfast also began
Scenes before landing
It has been another great flight with CX F and I will definitely fly them again real soon.
Stay tuned for Part 2 whereby I travel exclusively within the US on private jets ☺; Part 3 will be my journey home with CX in F and GA in J
Next Trips
Sep to Frankfurt with TG in F
Oct to Surabaya on a private Piaggio Avanti II
Oct to Hong Kong with GA in J
Nov to Frankfurt with TF in J, and with private jets within Europe
Dec to Perth and Cape Town with GA in J and SA in J

Great report!
I had no idea that the 77W had an under belly camera as well. Must have been exciting.
Every 777 I've ever flown on has only had the forward and downward view. Is this something specific to CX's 777s?

As usual, food looks incredible on CX in F. That breakfast makes my mouth water! We just returned from CPH on SAS in J, and their Breakfast was a bit lacking compared to what you had ...

Thanks for the part one of your report!
Garuda looks very good and the meal looks better than the typical regional meal served in CX J. The menu looks nice, and I am really impressed that an amenity kit is offered on this flight. The CGK lounge also looks nice. Can't wait for GA to join Skyteam and I can start flying it.
CX F looks as good as ever, and the Chinese abalone appetizer is truly extravagant. The presentation is superb and I am really surprised with a sliced abalone served in the original shell course.

Quoting AT (Reply 1): Is this something specific to CX's 777s?
Been on SQ and Tg 77E and so far CX is the only one that seem to have this feature
Quoting concordechild (Reply 2): Flying CX F next week LHR -HKG on 744 and looking fwd to it as havent flown them in ages.
I actually just flown CX B744 in F about 2 mths back from HKG to CGK. is really nice and also seem to me more airy than the 773ER cabin. You will love it
Quoting concordechild (Reply 2): Flying LHR - BKK early October, BA, QF or TG?? (though i sense you may have a bias for TG )
I say take TG for price. But instead of QF or BA, i would rather take CX again
Quoting 767747 (Reply 4): As usual, food looks incredible on CX in F. That breakfast makes my mouth water! We just returned from CPH on SAS
Actually CX now tops my list in terms of F catering, sadly they have yet to have a pre-order menu like SQ or TG

Me too, its about time GA joins an alliance

You and me both! and it was extremely tasty and i had seconds too ahahhaha
Quoting joffie (Reply 6): Fantastic report. The food looks really good
You are welcome, and yes food on CX did not disappoint
What room is this? What a fantastic view! We stayed at the Langham Place in April and really enjoyed it and Hong Kong. I agree with you, HKG is the best airport in the world.

Quoting SASDC8 (Reply 8): But with whom did you send the rest of the gang?
Hi Stein! They flew with SQ on the A380 in J

I booked the standard room and got free upgrade to a corner suite due to SPG Platinum status.
Quoting icanfly (Reply 9): Why might that be? Could it be the crew's sheer excitement of approaching the great City of Angels?
Crews seem to like flying into LAX, guess for shopping and the relatively longer layover means more daily allowance for the crew too.

Quoting MSS658 (Reply 11): Nice trip report! I'm impressed by the long way up that GA made along the years. CX F looks neat as well. Looks like you had a good trip.
Looking forward to more!
Hi Marc,
GA really has improved over the years, even I am more than happy to fly them now. CX F in my opnion is one of the best F seats out there, too bad they weren't successful with their herringbone J seats, but at least they have also now rolled out their new long haul J seats.
Thanks for reading and you can also read Pt 2 and 3 of my trip report.
