Good afternoon everyone!
Unfortunately I am usually lazy to write trip reports, however I enjoy reading some great ones on this site!
This is a flight operated by Aegean Air's A320 based in Larnaca. The flight was operated on the 26th of April 2011 so forgive me if I do not have all the flight details with me. All I remember is that the flight was 80% full!
Larnaca airport tarmac with three Cyprus Airways birds. The first one at the airbridge was actually heading to Thessaloniki like us.
Here she is. Our A320 after having arrived from Athens.
Taxying to the gate.
Terminal line up.
Check-in area cafe.
The bar, and God's gift to humanity- a frappe! Well, one of the two gifts, the other one being bread!
Larnaca airport immigration desks. Interestingly enough, Cypriot immigration officers are one of the most efficient in Europe.
Our A320 getting ready to fly to Thessaloniki.
The nice part of the airbridges.
The not so nice part.
The business class section.
...and the class reserved for us mortals.
View from my seat.
Cyprus Airways' flight to Thessaloniki.
Safety demonstration. Initial welcome by a captain, safety procedures are demonstrated by Aegean's Deltalina.
Pafos pushed back. This plane is named after a city on the western coast of Cyprus.
Bye Bye!
Pafos taking off before us.
Our turn!
Take off, here you can see Monarch's A300-600 getting ready to depart. Next to it Cyprus Airways' A330-200 and Olympic Air's A320.
Larnaca Airport.
Shortly before Limassol we changed our course and ended up flying over the Troodos mountain range.
Over Troodos.
Breakfast time. It actually tasted quite good.
If there is one constant thing with Aegean, then it has to be the bitchyness of its flight attendants!! I have flown with them since 2007 and have come across only two or three nice ones! That is the only thing that is much better with Cyprus Airways and Olympic Air.
Approaching Thessaloniki!
Found this quite funny!
Horrible weather that day in Thessaloniki!
Thessaloniki! Alitalia's A321, Cyprus Airways' A320, Aegean Air's A320 and Ryanair's B737-800 (well, what else?)
Cyprus Airways A320. I was supposed to be on that flight but it was fully booked.
Disembarking in Thessaloniki with some nasty clouds in the back.
Cute logo.
The flight was quite boring and uneventful. Food was ok, one drink service and the tv displayed the route map. Aegean Air was my second choice when flying, until I experienced new Olympic about two months ago! Unfortunately OA's route network has been limited to regional flights out of Athens.
Thessaloniki was amazing, a city worth visiting! Great nightlife, great food, great people... but Athens is still better

Nice report shame to hear the crew were btichy but its not the first time Im hearing this . Dont know why there is such a big difference between Olympic Air crews and A3 ones. No point having a good hard product if the soft product is lacking. Have to say though my own experience a few weeks back was very positive as you know. Having said that my ATH-SKG last year also had not so good crew .

Thanks!
I am flying Larnaca-Athens-Rhodes on Aegean in two weeks so I am hoping that I finally get some pleasant crew. Last summer when I flew ATH-LCA on A3 we had such a nice young greek girl who was smiling and was just so nice. She really made a difference. Just like you, I can't understand how come one Greek airline has such unpleasant crew while another Greek airline has the complete opposite! Then again the old OA had amazing crew as well, so maybe it stayed from the last managment?
Maybe they were nice to you because you flew business class? :P
Quoting sunshine79 (Reply 4): Amen to that. I miss Cyprus frappe's sooo much. I make them but it's just not the same, especially when there is no beach or hot sun to drink it in
I know so many people who after leaving Cyprus have a hard time finding an alternative for frappe!
Well, since you do not have the means to trully enjoy your frappe in the UK that means that you should visit Cyprus once again
Quoting stipica (Reply 5): next time I expect Cyprus Airways report ... hvala na trudu ...stipica
Hvala na citanju I actually thought of doing a trip report on Cyprus Airways but then decided to do one of A3 and JU.
Posto sada imam slobodnog vremena napisacu o CYu!

I spent two summers there so I think I have had my fill of the island, although I have only visited Greece once, ATH, and I'm planning a 21 night Greek island hopping next year so I will fill my boots on frappe's then.

Nice, where did you go in Cyprus? Greece is an amazing country, which also has frappe making the whole experience there even better!
Quoting taichen (Reply 8): I usually only read praise about Aegean ... it was funny to read about the "bitchyness" of their FAs !! xD
To be honnest, it's trully the only thing that is bad with that airline. The rest is great!
Quoting 767747 (Reply 9): Good report! I've been reading/seeing a lot about Aegean. Looks like a nice little airline with a high level of service!
Thank you. It trully is, one important thing is that they are rarely late! (at least from my experience)

I have lived in Pafos and Agia Napa, both for one summer season each and boy were they long summers. I was part of the TCX team who helped out in Pafos when XL went under and last year with the ash cloud saga, so working in Cyprus was a pretty interesting time for me.
