Hello @ all,
this my first try setting up a TR for you.
Routing: Berlin-Schoenefeld to Corfu on Easyjet (G-EZAT) A319
Corfu to Thessaloniki on Aegean (SX-DGF) A319
Thessaloniki to Skiathos via Volos on bus and ferry
Skiathos to Athens on Olympic (SX-OBA) DH8-400
Athens to Berlin-Schoenefeld on Easyjet (G-EZAM) A319
Costs: 258€
Here we go:
Since 2006 I'm spending year by year in wonderful greece, primary because its not too expensive as Spain or Italy and because of the friendly people over there (and of course because of the unique airports :p). Usually I spent one or two weeks at Corfu, my favourite island but last year's two weeks at off-season end of august been really painful (boring).
So past summer me and a fellow spotter (I quit spotting 2009, do now videospotting) Alexander Hille decided to do a cross country (-islands) trip. Eventuall all ferries to our favourite islands Santorini and Mykonos been booked out (even we looked up for it in may) so we had to change plans. So the result was the routing above Corfu:
August 4th we headed to SXF/EDDB airport, fully packed with our stuff for the trip. Sadly it was a night flight so I didn't take any pics on that route. We arrived two hours later on a quite beautiful break off approach to RWY35 at Corfu. Apron was low filled, only a single EZY (from Gatwick) was standing beside us. We were tired and hurried for our hostel at Agios Gordis at the west part of the island. Now some impressions:
After 6 days drinking, partying and spotting we were ready to explore the rest of greece (fairly, A part). The alarm rang early and we checked out at 4am. It was foggy and quite cold in the morning (shorts and shirts wearing only) but we been strong and arrived around 7am to the airport to catch our flight to Thessaloniki. We checked in and creeped around the terminal to get a spot on the apron where we saw this polish bird which flew todays leg Kattowitz-Corfu-Warzawa-Corfu-Kattowitz. We watched our plane arriving at RWY35 (we took off RWY17, normal procedure if wind is VRB
Our ride, SX-DGF
Mt. Olymp
Volos harbour
Breakfast
Ferry to Skiathos
Kinda like an A380 cabin
Skiathos:
View from our hotel to the harbour (on the left the airport)
Thats what the apron max can handle at once, two medium acfts. Both bound for LGW.
Xamenos beach, behind RWY02
Day sheduled flights
Little A318 of Tarom by expecting bikers
We didnt want to leave that sunday, guess why?Aviogonex B732 was coming the very next day Very sad. Athens:

Hi Marian,
Great report. Lovely to see some nice high-quality pictures of Greece and some domestic travels by air and sea. Judging on that thermometer, it must have been really hot while you were there! Look forward to reading more of your adventures.

Hi Carmelo,
Thanks for this dose on Greek sunshine on a dull november day, just what I needed. Skiathos looks great, plane spotting and the beach nearby, what more could you possibly want?

Quoting debonair (Reply 5): Some Q left: do you remember which airline is operating "LLC4595 Malpensa"?
And which airline is flying this beautiful Dash 8-200 with the blue tail?
Its Small Planet Airlines, they operated with a 737 on this route (italians love that Island, there was no day without an inbound from IT) but that day the plane didn't come.
The Dash is Astrojets owned plane flying for Olympic on the SKG/LGTS route...
Quoting infodesk (Reply 6): Wow! How on earth do you get down to the beach?!
Like that
One of the lowest approaches...maybe 10m or less...

Hi Carmelo.
lovely report and pics from Greece. I defo regret not going to my favourite island of Mykonos this year... we decided to look to other places more far away this time... next year again, hopefully! But Skiathos also looks very nice, with great spotting too!
Regards
Eric
