This Trip report is a continuation of the above reports.
ARRIVAL AT MSP- I had approximatley 1 ½ hours till my flight departs for LAX. This would be my first time on a 753 so I was looking forward to this flight.
FIDS at MSP
I enjoyed the underground tunnel from A to B concourse since it was rather colorful.
Underground tunnel from Concourse A to B
From the A Concourse I would need to go all the way to the other side of Terminal 1 to Concourse G. I opted for the long moving sidewalks so I could get some exercise and stretch my legs a little. When I reached my boarding area I managed to grab the usual lunch fare from the airport food court. MSP is a great airport btw and I have flown in and out of there on occasion since I was in Jr. High. I made a very memorable layover here on my way to basic training at Great Lakes back in 1992. We had waited on the flight line on a NW 727 for over an hour before being cleared for taxi due to congestion in ORD. The aircraft began its takeoff roll for 5 seconds and slowed down only to turn back to the taxiway then to the gate. As I remember there were hydraulic problems. Anyways I digress back to the report.
Moving Walkway MSP
Moving walkway crossing from Concourse C to Concourse G
The queue for boarding was long as we had a full house.
Lots of Scenery from Utah, Vegas area and made the usual westerly downwind landing to LAX passing the Gabriel Mountains and suburbs of LA.
St George, UT
Lake Mead, NV
Lake Mead & Las Vegas, Henderson,NV
Las Vegas with LAS airport (Center)
Leaving Las Vegas behind
Flying over San Gabriel Mountains and descent in to the LA area
What airfield is this?
Downtown LA very smoggy
Welcome to LAX
When we landed the aircraft taxied next to the entrance of Terminal 5 and stopped as we arrived 10 minutes early. A DL 772 was pushing back and we stopped for 5 mins. The Captain announced that the aircraft would be tugged to the gate.
Being tugged to arrival gate
ARRIVAL AT LAX-
I had 3 hours to kill at the airport so I stopped for food and got on the Wi-Fi. I was almost home now and was looking forward to arrival as my wife and daughter took me out to a surprise belated birthday dinner in San Diego waiting for me. In the meantime I managed to do some spotting, get lunch, and relax with the wi-fi.
DL FIDS Terminal 5 LAX
DL 772 to Tokyo
BOARDING- It was painless and quick on our regional jet to SAN.

Great TR!!! Being a San Diego resident myself, I always love that base turn to final!! And, it's always a tough call to either sit on the right side, and see my apartment fly by below, OR, see the city off to the left.

Thanks, I agree the views you get on final is great no matter what side you choose to sit.

I don't see many TRs involving MSP so it's always a treat. My first time through MSP was early last year coming in from LHR and I wasn't very impressed. Pretty tight connection. Came in on the G, connecting to ATL on the F. Seemed very dark and the food offerings were limited; a huge McDonald's right outside the gate area (yuck) but of course I didn't experience the main airport mall or other areas. I've grown to like the place as i've made many flights in and out for work over the past few months. Super easy to get around although I think a tram like what they have on A/B/C would be nice for the very loooooooong walks down the G.
Just a note but that's actually a 752 that you were looking at. One of DL's last delivered 757s and currently has AVOD and live TV (75X). It was either headed to Atlanta Salt Lake.

Mike, thank you for posting the wonderful report. Your photos make me really miss the 753s - I used to fly on them all the time with NW, but DL has since moved a lot of them to Hawaii service and they don't operate on the routes that I fly (namely MSP or DTW to PHX).
You also flew through two of my favorite terminals - T5 at LAX and MSP's Lindbergh Terminal.
Quoting Mike89406 (Reply 7): You're right about the food offerings being limited for a decent sized airport.
If you're down by the C gates at MSP again, make sure you stop at Godfather's Pizza. Their cheese bread is amazing!
