Well, even though it's been more than half a year since I took that flight, I decided to dedicate my first trip report to it. It was my first time flying with British Airways and also my first time flying on a Boeing 777. Both was a truly great experience and the next time I'm going to the States, I sure will take BA again.

The first leg took me from DUS to LHR, early morning departure at 07:10 am. We got into London without delay, there was a small breakfast served onboard and the crew was very friendly. Aircraft in service was an Airbus A319 G-EUPW. Fun Fact: That exact same Airbus should take me back on my return flight from LHR to DUS in December last year, so pretty much half a year later.

It almost seemed like Germany waited the whole summer until I left August 20th to finally give us some blue skies. Climbing out RWY 23L, below us the river Rhine and the Highway-Bridge of the A44.

The Tower Bridge. Even though I have been in London more times than I can count, I have never seen it from this perspective

The London Eye, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament

I would have loved to stop for a tea-time with the Queen or preferrably Kate Middleton at Buckingham Palace, but my connection flight was waiting. Sorry guys!

Busy T5 with a little Union Jack lineup

Waiting for my connection, G-EUPW was already being pushed back again for her next flight. Boarding that 777 was quite funny. When a quite "big" lady, sitting in my previously reserved window seat, tried to convince me that 28A was actually the aisle seat and C was the windows seat. Yeah, sure...they just name the rows randomly from side to side. You picked the wrong guy to start this argument with lady...but in the end she was comprehensible and let me sit in my beloved window seat.

Impressive, 2 Whalejets side to side

Finally on board our 777-200 G-YMMI. It seems we will be racing across the Atlantic with this American 777. Man, I love this livery! Moments before getting blown away by the sheer indefinite thrust of that RR Trent 895 engines

And I love the BA Inflight Entertainment. FA Cup Finals on my Screen, nice

Believe it or not, but what lies behind the river - also known as Hudson - is the tiny island of Manhattan. It was definitely more spectacular to see in person, you could make out the skyscrapers against the horizon. This clearly doesn't work in the picture very well...

Looks like Heathrow all over again! But this is actually an OpenSky B757-200 operating from Paris Orly into IAD

After they finally got the jetway to connect to the plane (it was kind of a little drama) we could deboard. Face to face with G-YMMI. Lovely aircraft!

Before heading into DC, we first had to take the People Mover. That's something different compared to other airports, I liked it.
Sadly there are no pictures from the flight back. It was BAW216/938 and since it was the end of December and an overnight flight there was not much to look at. Just one picture after arriving in T5 at LHR in the early morning

It was B777-200 G-VIIW and the A319 G-EUPW from my flight back in August on these legs. Overall a very good flying experience combined with an overwhelming time in lovely DC, the place to be.

You should know that the seats are ABC from the aisle in towards the window thus they A seat is the aisle seat. You must have had the same person that was sitting in my seat the other flight I had, she sure gets around.

To your TR. I really enjoyed it, some fantastic pictures. Hope you get to fly over to North America again, but this time visit the "Rock" instead of just flying over it.

Rush for ever; Yankees all the way!!

Yeah, next thing you know they name the rows "QWERTY"

Thank you very much! As this was my first trip report I figure there's still plenty of room for improvement. I think I should have added some pictures from DC itself, there are quite a lot of them since I lived there for almost 5 months and also did some cool stuff as I interned for the official marketing agency of the city. If there's demand I can post some pictures of this lovely city and all it has to offer...

Please pardon my asking, but what do you mean with the rock? NYC? Been there twice already, very impressive indeed! But to be honest, I prefer the more laidback and much less hectic DC over it anytime.
I'm sure I will be back to North America soon. Still so many places I want to see, love it there!
