Jassas, dear readers,
some two months ago, I´ve noticed that my airberlin TopBonus account shows a deadline for a couple of miles at the end of March.
No way to let them go unused.
But what should I do during this time of the year.
The weather data for Cyprus, Paphos especially, looks like nice, temperatures around 20 degrees and mostly dry during the last years.
And well, PFO is not pinned on the departure airports map till now.
AB runs once a week at Mondays ex Nuremberg.
The only chance to reach PFO at Sunday is a flight out of the UK.
So we will see what´s coming up heading for the UK and further on to PFO.
There is no highspeed rail connection on the NUE-STR track.
A dead slow local train is scheduled to stop at every corner and needs ages, not my thing for the return from NUE.
So it´s better to fly out of FRA now and skip STR for this trip.

Service LH 896 operated by Lufthansa
Scheduled: 08.45 // 09.10
Flying out of FRA in the morning, that means an early start, wake up at 03.30 am, well nothing new to me.
And flying out of FRA means also a detour for Tourcare to park the car.
Everything works as scheduled, close to no traffic and not that long thereafter I saw me on the shuttle for the airport.
Check-In is done online, perfectly fast and reliable with LH´s website. No printout as usual to catch a proper boarding pass.
And I should also do a quick bag weight check to stay under the 5 kilos cabin baggage limit for carrier no. 2 today.
Both went well at the LH desks, no time to wait there.
Close to no time to wait also at passport control and security operates with an priority line, also no time to wait there.
The fare is amazingly good, booked as a one way by LH directly, 55.00 Euro´s.
So, let me check the system for my flight.
Looks like ok from gate B31 on the scheduled 735
Gate B31 is a short walk only from the worlds largest Senator Lounge. That´s the way to go now for me
Anyone in need for sleep
Large and well designed
This looks like my part of the buffet
Or better stay this way?
No, this is finally me
Lounge chairs with a view, well done
The bar
Healthy food around
You see something like this close to the lounge
Bus boarding, down the stairs for the groundfloor after usage of the self boarding facility
Hah, under the wing, you know
The guys working at the main undercarriage
08.40 am, short ahead to schedule, is finally the time for "Lufthansa" to leave FRA. 9 degrees and cloudy, 1.00 hour to go from the 4000 meters runway 18.
Good legroom in the last row, three for me btw
Something for me also
Cockpit crew is from Germany, the pilot with a short and relaxed welcome after boarding is completed, the FO once more inflight short and not easy to follow.
The safety card, before it got lost, no, that´s a joke for sure!
The clean NEK cabin
Cabin crew is one elder and nice female, she addressed me several times by name, real good.
There is also one middle aged male and another middle aged female working the cabin, both ok.
Oldfashioned cabin paneels
Reaching the blue, at least above
Cabin view, the load is well mixed today with 60% in the end
Service is a free danish raisin cake, sorry no pic, it was lost somewhere before I remember to do a picture, together with free drinks.
Leaving mainland Europe, no route info, but the flightlevel is 35000 feet
And reaching the UK
Touchdown at the 3316 meters runway 26L, 10.10 am in Germany and 09.10 am local, ontime, 10 degrees and cloudy here.
A gate position at LGW
My plane from above
D-ABIP "Oberhausen" shuttled me to the UK.
This is a new entry to my log and leg no. 33 on type.
Since 30.04.1991 in service with LH, one of 22 still in the fleet.
No one in front at immigrations, good timing here, so it seems.
Out in the public now and ready, but not in the best mood, for the next flight.

Service TCX 1048 operated by Thomas Cook Airlines
Scheduled: 14.25 // 20.55
This leg is booked directly by TCX, the fare ok with 85.00 Euro´s for an 4 hours, 30 minutes flight. 4 hours, 30 minutes seems a long time to go across Europe.
Strange, you need to reconfirm you´re flight not earlier than 96 hours prior to departure, that´s definitely a blast from the past here.
From my point of view it´s more or less a reminder for the pax to book some extra meal or seating till you finally reach the reconfirm page.
Also somewhat strange is that I can´t find any available confirmation for the plane type operating this flight.
It seems TCX switches it flexible according to the actual needs.
Thankfully no changes at all.
During the booking for this trip I see that there is far to low lounge access possible with my actual cards.
So I´ve decided to join the Club of Diners.
Everything works fine and they confirmed, the plastic is on schedule.
One week prior to the trip, no plastic in the mailbox. I´ve called and reached the information that there are some issues with the plastic producer, but the card will be with me ontime.
Sure, ontime, in theory. No card in the mailbox till Saturday. Oh dear, it seems I will see it for the next trip but definitely not for its original purpose.
Also my try to catch an special seat was not successful with the southern german cost cutting measures.
Paying the credit card processing fee twice with the seat selection thing is definitely not my choice.
Ok, out in the public and looking for an TCX counter.
TCX operates also from the South Terminal like Lufthansa.
Now it seems luck or charme, who knows, join´s my side of the party.
The desks are in preparation while I´am walking there and a young polish male was in a relaxed mode.
We had a short chat .
"Hey, are you ok to check me in for the service to Paphos in the early afternoon?".
"Sure".
"Just me, no bag, but what is this thing with the extra seats, how much is it?".
"Let me check the weight of you´re cabin baggage first. 4,5 kilos, that fit´s. Just you.
Ok, where you want to sit, bulkhead, exit, it´s free for you".
"What about the last row window?".
"Ok, 40A for you".
"Thanx, bye now".
Done a ride to the North Terminal now, just for a look around and it´s well time enough to do so.
Back an hour later, close to no time at security and soon thereafter in the gate area to spot something like this
Jet2 for Kiruna via East Midlands, sure something special for me
Hey, what´s that?
The first time for me to see an AN148 for real
PGA and Ukraine International
Red or white nose first?
White wins the race
Also a special country these days
Ah, PFO from gate 25, by surprise the area where I´am waiting prior to the gate information.
Easy to catch with all TCX flights leaving from this part of the terminal
UIA is running late
Dedicated to Hannah(Infodesk), Titan/Snowjet for Chambery
Oh dear, I´am waiting relaxed close to the gate, but my relaxation is somewhat going lost when I see that endless stream of pax boarding my plane.
Lot´s of people with kids beside the usual retired couples.
That looks like a heavy load today and I see my chances for a bit more comfort in the last row gone. I´ve expected the worst, 4 hours and 30 minutes in a cramped seat.
Egypt, maybe sometimes, but not today
But that´s the place where it all begins
This is G-TCBB, leg no. 15 on type and also a new entry to my log.
The plane entered service with US carrier National Airlines at 21.06.1999, spend some time in China with China Southern und China Xinjiang till 22.01.2011, when it started it´s relationship with TCX.
There are 10 examples on type in the fleet.
Looking forward to another flight on the 757-200
Well, you know, late boarding is always the way to go for me.
And after some pictures it seems I´am the very last pax to enter the plane.
People everywhere, there is simply no open seat to spot.
No open seat to spot?.
The complete row 21 is not taken right now.
A nice elder female FA greeted me not far from this row.
"Hello, I was the last pax to board, is it possible to change for this row?.
Perfectly ontime I hear the boarding completed announcement.
"Sure, it´s definitely better to take this seat than in the last row".
"Thank you, lucky me".
A deep breath, now that´s looking better this way.
Just departed at 2.40 pm, 15 minutes late, 4 hours, 30 minutes now for "Kestrel" from runway 26L again, leaving 12 partly cloudy degrees behind
Cockpit crew is from the UK, the captain with a short welcome during boarding.
He´s later on to hear inflight real nice while we leave the alps and some turbulence forced him to swich on the seatbelt sign. Once again during approach.
Cabin crew is two male FA´s, one young, one middle aged, both nothing special.
And also four female FA´s, the elder nice woman and three middle aged, two nice and one ok style.
Where it all starts down there
The well used safety card
Modern style ceiling
Legroom, well something more should be not bad.
Worn out dark blue leather seats here and the cabin is not that really clean
Thomas Cook Travel
Legroom is better this way
Service is somewhat special.
They had some paper sheets with the preordered meals for every seats and with lots of package tourists also that needs a long time till all the pax reached what they asked for.
There are several drink runs, but nothing for free at all.
That´s a massive wing
The route is SZG-SOF-Kalamata-Izmir-Dalaman, no flightlevel info.
My internal watch shows me pretty ontime this view for the alps after a short nap
The sun is going down while I read my book
Touchdown at the 2699 meters runway 11, 09.00 pm, some five minutes late, 18 degrees and warm welcomed clear sky.
Apron disembarking at Paphos, it feels good to breath this warm mediterranean air
Bye now to TCX
An passport check is necessary to enter Cyprus, quickly done with no other flight on arrivals during the same time.
No bag to wait for, so out in the public a couple of minutes after touchdown.
To early, so it seems, for the free airport pickup offered by my hotel, the Capital Coast Resort.
Some more minutes to wait till the driver shows up.
A nice young hungarian guy who usually works the front desk. We had a really nice chat on the way further on.
Check-in was also quick with no one else around, done by a nice young woman. As requested a room on the top floor was prepared for me.
First view
My room
The bathroom
Sure ok with 45.00 Euro´s only B&B.
A good nights sleep followed and I´am ready the next morning as soon as breakfast is available at 08.00 am.
The lobby
Poolside
Looks like nice this way
Further on by the hotels taxi service to Paphos harbour
And most wanted a visit to the UNESCO world heritage site.
The sanctuary of Aphrodite
Surreal, just me and a couple of large birds around
Impressive when you know that this is built more than 2000 years ago
Perfectly preserved
The way to spend the day a couple of years ago
Real good to follow
Animals
More ruins out there
Heading for the turkish harbour fortress now
Also well preserved
And a couple of ships in the harbour
By the public bus back to the hotel with a detour for this nice church
I like these yellow flowers, really nice spring feeling here
Picking up my belongings, a nice chat again with the hungarian guy working the desk now and ready on the free shuttle back to the airport. Well ontime for a view around my new departure place.

Service AB 3625 operated by airberlin
Scheduled: 16.00 // 18.40
This one is booked directly by the AB website, 10000 miles and 60.00 Euro´s taxes, sure ok with Cyprus as a high fare destination from the German market.
The usual screen check first.
It´s German day now with three flights leaving to my home country, always good for some confusion when two flights on the same airline running close to the same time
No dedicated Top Bonus Gold counter here, no I´am not amused.
But it seems that´s mainly the fact with most of the travellers here running on a package tour.
Four counters open for both flights, some ten minutes to wait with a good number of pax ahead.
Well, the usual bunch of not that travel experienced retired couples.
The female agent asked for my ticket.
Ticket, no ticket, a booking confirmation sure, but no ticket here.
Finally she found me in the system, no bag to check, more surprise, it seems that´s not the usual standard here.
11F, the exit row window is preselected for me and finally printed.
Let´s go for a view around.
Palm trees, a modern style building around the entrance
Special charter flight from Canada on the apron
Lemons, love it
Prepared for a couple more pax
No time to wait at security, quickly done after another passport check.
There is a lounge available with Diners, not to talk about more this way.
Easy heading for Gatwick
Now that´s something what I really dislike, metall seaters
Good views to the action outdoor, as long as there is some action!
Transaero heading for Moscow
With the Easy and Transaero flights gone that´s a good chance to see only AB pax by now in the gate area.
And it feels somewhat unreal, retired couples in front,
retired couples right hand side, retired couples left hand side and simply no one behind me.
So I´am not teenie style, you know, but it seems my age lowers the average here!.
Finally boarding is called from Gate 2.
The other AB service from Gate 5 is also boarding.
And imagine these desperate calls for pax missing at gate 5 till they are sorted out from the queue at my gate, ah, these people!.
This is D-ABGR, the A320 is on schedule, but it´s changed close to my travel date for the A319.
Leg no. 75 on type and yes, it´s new to my log.
In service with AB since 17.11.2008. 8 planes on type are in the fleet actually
Under the wing, you know
A little bit more sun above should be nice
Looks like clean this way
The two birds sitting on the apron, Syria is not that far away
Engine close up
Boarding as the last pax and that´s once more well recommended.
Why?.
The flight is close to fully booked, according to the AB Gold Hotline, but row 1 is completely open.
No question to change for 1F, after a nice short chat with the really nice middle aged female purser
The load is 90% in the end.
Bulkhead is sure ok for me, but not that really much space to stretch you´re legs. Anyway, the cabin is clean with the dark blue leather seats
4.00 pm, as scheduled, is the final time for "AirBerlin" on the 3 hours, 20 minutes ride back to Germany from the 2699 meters runway 29. 18 degrees and cloudy here by now.
Cabin crew is one young ok male, the nice middle aged female purser and also a very nice and good looking young girl with black hair, thumbs up for AB this way.
Cockpit crew is from Germany, the captain with a real well detailed welcome after boarding is completed, once again short after departure. Never followed it this way since a long time ago, with all the technical details around the flight, departure weight, speed and direction, followed by all available route details, well done again by AB.
Routing is Rhodos-Samos-Thessaloniki-Sofia-Belgrade-Graz-Linz at 36000 feet.
Service is a large cheese sandwich together with free drinks twice
How to spend the money in Greece, a small island with an special looking airport
The engine above the blue sea
The safety card to confirm the plane type
The magazine looks like interesting
Touchdown at Nuremberg´s 2700 meter runway 28, 6.30 pm, ten minutes ahead to schedule, 10 degrees and cloudy here.
A huge number of jetbridges and one plane only docked,
but some more to come shortly with AB´s hub and spoke operation here

Service Lufthansa LH 153 operated by Lufthansa City Line
Scheduled: 20.35 // 21.25[/b]
This flight is booked by LH directly. The fare once again real good with 45.00 Euro´s and also the seat selection app works well abroad, 28F the last row window for me.
Let me check now if there is a dedicated Senator lounge here.
Ah, yes it is!.
The elder lounge lady printed my boarding pass and so I´am ready to go.
The bavarian corner
Something for me left hand side
Leather chairs, but that´s not a huge place
Also ok this way
Leaving the lounge some 30 minutes prior to departure for a view to the board
My plane is docked at A17 inbound from FRA
The E90 as scheduled.
This is D-AECG, leg no. 11 on type, a new entry to my log.
In service with LH Cityline since 29.07.2010.
9 planes on type are in the fleet actually.
The plane is noted with an incident in late 2011 enroute from FRA to Minsk with smoke in the cabin and an immediate diversion to DRS. The flight was cancelled but thankfully nothing else happened
Boarding now
8.30 pm, short ahead to schedule, "Hansaline" is ready for the 30 minutes only in direction FRA, 8 degrees and cloudy here. A rolling takeoff from runway 28, like arrivals follows.
A short chat with an nice middle aged male FA confirmed the low load. Nothing else expected during my latest mobile seat check and a huge number of open seats to spot.
There is also an ok style elder female FA on the plane.
Cockpit crew is from Germany, the pilot with a short welcome only during boarding.
Cabin view, the load is 40%, but when we see the cabin divider fixed after half of the plane, it seems there are a good number of full fare pax here
The safety card
Legroom is sure ok here in the second to last row, 27F finally
Modern style dark grey clean leather seaters
No service, no route or flightlevel information.
Touchdown at FRA´s 4000 meter runway 25L, 09.10 pm, 15 minutes ahead to schedule. Also here 8 degrees and cloudy, quickly out in the public.
Some ten minutes to wait for the shuttle back to Tourcare and my car and some two hours later back home.
Well, let me tell you a short conclusion flight by flight.
LH FRA LGW: Super comfy.
TCX LGW PFO: Better as expected.
AB PFO NUE: Comfy and nice staff.
LH NUE FRA: Short and relaxed.
Close to three biz weeks now till the next flights on schedule, if nothing goes wrong as usual. And with the frequent changes lately I hope I will make it this way.
Brindisi and of course some MD´s to catch.
Jasu, comments welcome as usual.

Hi Markus,
Good to read about the mediterranean spring, although thankfully we have one of our own at the moment. The legroom looks pretty abysmal on TCX. Still, what a good deal you got on the hotel, looking at that fancy bathroom you'd never think it only cost 45E.
Nice to see the photos of the Sanctuary of Aphrodite. I remember learning all about the Greek legends at school, although at that time I didn't find it too interesting.

Diners Club support leaves a lot to be desired in Germany. I also needed to wait very long for my card last fall. And last week I contacted them to ask them about a possible lounge at the new BER. I received a reply but without any sensible information in it.
In your case, they could have prepared a letter or a provisional paper card stating your credit card number and that you paid the credit card fee so that you can enter the lounges. They mostly type in the code themselves and don't swipe it anyway.
But I get Diners as a partner-card for 24 EUR. This is a very good deal so I better do not complain .

Hi Markus !
Another great and interesting report from you! Back to your usual style; early departure and a short trip in Europe!
Nice flights on LH; I thought they had under wing registrations? I guess not. Flights look nice.
It looks VERY cramped on Thomas Cook. Definetly better with the legs sideways! Glad you had some empty seats next to you!
Cyprus looks very nice ! Great sights to visit like you did! I should try to go there some time.
AB looks very cramped especially for the bulk head row which I thought had lots of legroom.
Thanks again for another great report!
Looking forward to the next one from Italy!

Hi Markus,
interesting and nice report, good idea to put these topbonus miles to a good use and combine it with a nice escape of the winter here. Good catch on the Thomas Cook 757, for sure a very nice bird. Even though the service wasn't anything to write home about in my opinion flying a 757 compensates for that.
And looks like you were twice lucky with your seats on this trip, well done.
Nice pictures from Cyprus, these ruins are certainly interesting.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): And imagine these desperate calls for pax missing at gate 5 till they are sorted out from the queue at my gate, ah, these people!.
A bit strange that they have 2 flights to the same destination by the same airlines within 10 minutes. Of course that's a bit confusing for the not so experienced travelers. Was the other flight also on a A319/320? If so I wonder why they haven't combined the two flights and used something bigger.

Hi Markus,
good report as usual
Shame about Diners, did you tell them you wanted it for this weekend? If they know that they will then have to pay the lounge for your access perhaps they "lost" it? Sorry, I'm just too cynical these days!
Nice brief stopover at Gatwick. I take it you couldn't meet any of the Easy crew on here?
I'm wondering why the reference to FR in the report title?
Finally Cyprus looks nice, I know only a short visit but clearly worth more investigation, especially also after Gabriel's recent report!

Another great and interesting report from you! Back to your usual style; early departure and a short trip in Europe!
Thank you, warm welcomed, you know.

Nice flights on LH; I thought they had under wing registrations? I guess not. Flights look nice.
Good point, no underwing regs with LH.
Quoting The777Man (Reply 9):
It looks VERY cramped on Thomas Cook. Definetly better with the legs sideways! Glad you had some empty seats next to you!
Lucky me, definitely.
Quoting The777Man (Reply 9):
Cyprus looks very nice ! Great sights to visit like you did! I should try to go there some time.
Do it, really recommendable.
Quoting The777Man (Reply 9):
AB looks very cramped especially for the bulk head row which I thought had lots of legroom.
Also my opinion here.

Quoting CaptainRed (Reply 10):
interesting and nice report, good idea to put these topbonus miles to a good use and combine it with a nice escape of the winter here. Good catch on the Thomas Cook 757, for sure a very nice bird. Even though the service wasn't anything to write home about in my opinion flying a 757 compensates for that.
And looks like you were twice lucky with your seats on this trip, well done.
Thank you and this was also one of the ideas around this trip.

A 738 and an A319, well worth it for something bigger, like you stated.

Hello Markus,
Good report and nice to see your search for warmer climes paid off: 4 new log entries and a new carrier and the mighty 757, that’s what I call a success getaway!
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): The fare is amazingly good, booked as a one way by LH directly, 55.00 Euro´s.
Indeed sometimes these excellent fares on LH, too bad they’re usually not there when I need them...
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): From my point of view it´s more or less a reminder for the pax to book some extra meal or seating till you finally reach the reconfirm page.
Exactly my view as well. I guess the holidaymakers are easy targets for this.

I remember that story. And something for user deltamartin as well probably!
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): It´s German day now with three flights leaving to my home country, always good for some confusion when two flights on the same airline running close to the same time
That’s asking for big trouble with a plane load of retired holiday makers
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): And it feels somewhat unreal, retired couples in front,
retired couples right hand side, retired couples left hand side and simply no one behind me.
Maybe someday Markus, we will find ourselves in that very same catergory and situation
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): Cockpit crew is from Germany, the captain with a real well detailed welcome after boarding is completed, once again short after departure.
Nice to have such an extensive amount of info, but I feel that most of the pax couldn’t care less about that.

I want to have this card too, but unfortunately they do not issue to card anymore in the Netherlands. If there's any other way to do it, I would like to know but so far no chance
I must say, these British charters are way to go, nice plane, another 757. Not common these days. Well done.
You made a nice trip of it. And you're AB Gold now, giving you a nice level at oneworld alliance, with lounge access now also on BA flights, I assume you're sapphire level? I once had AB Silver, but since they stopped flying to AMS there was no chance for me to keep it up, despite me loving this airline.
Nice pics all the way, well done.

That would be Kastelorizo (Aka Megisti Island). It is the eastern-most inhabited Greek island. I think it only gets one flight a day with OA from Rhodes. Not a very modern or busy airport.

Hi Markus,
I have to admit at first I had a hard time figuring out your title and what did FR have to do with your trip until I got it: yes, the UK (and many other) charter's nowadays are exactly like FR and the other ultra low cost carriers. Nothing is free, even saying "Hello" will be charged according to the price list on the inflight magazine. Such a shame, but hey, if the public wants low fares that is what they are gonna get. You can thank FR, U2 et. al for this trend.
It is still different in countries like Finland where the competition is much less intense so charter carriers get more money and can offer some limited frills like meals, sandwiches and soft drinks for free.
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): some two months ago, I´ve noticed that my airberlin TopBonus account shows a deadline for a couple of miles at the end of March.
Hmm, that reminds me that I have a bunch of miles expiring in June. Maybe I should do something with them - too bad it is only a handful, enough for a German domestic flight whenever they are running a special discount deal.
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): Flying out of FRA in the morning, that means an early start, wake up at 03.30 am, well nothing new to me.
Oh dear. This is pure Markus.
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): The fare is amazingly good, booked as a one way by LH directly, 55.00 Euro´s.
Yep, I hope Lufty's experiment with these cheap one way fares expands to established routes from the new routes like all the 40+ BER ones and the new DUS-HEL service.
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): Gate B31 is a short walk only from the worlds largest Senator Lounge. That´s the way to go now for me
This is definitely a very nice lounge - I was impressed by my visit there on my birthday last November. Too bad it is on the non-Schengen side, though!
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): Cabin view, the load is well mixed today with 60% in the end
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): Since 30.04.1991 in service with LH, one of 22 still in the fleet.
Considering this plane is 20 years old the tender loving care by Lufthansa and the NEK make it look very fresh.
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): Strange, you need to reconfirm you´re flight not earlier than 96 hours prior to departure, that´s definitely a blast from the past here.
From my point of view it´s more or less a reminder for the pax to book some extra meal or seating till you finally reach the reconfirm page.
See, it is all in the name of gouging more money out of you, the self loading profit generator. Having "passengers" is so last season.
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): Also somewhat strange is that I can´t find any available confirmation for the plane type operating this flight.
It seems TCX switches it flexible according to the actual needs.
Yes they do. Really annoying when you are trying to catch a particular plane type. Reminds me of my MAN-TFS flight two years ago when I first thought I was flying on an A330, then a 757 only to end up on an aisle seat on a completely packed A320. Talking about an anticlimax...
Still congratulations on scoring the 757 - sure beats a boring Airbus (unless it is a 300).
How much do you pay for it? I get it for free which makes the deal even more sweeter!
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): Sure, ontime, in theory. No card in the mailbox till Saturday. Oh dear, it seems I will see it for the next trip but definitely not for its original purpose.
Now this is a shame! I think you should've called them and asked them to fax or mail you a statement that you indeed have a card with the card number, in many places that should be enough to get in.
Then again the Servisair lounges at Gatwick South are nothing to write home about. No real food at all, plenty of drinks but that's about it. One of them has view of planes landing on 26 but the other one is pretty much subterranean...
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): Paying the credit card processing fee twice with the seat selection thing is definitely not my choice.
That's a royal rip off!
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): Jet2 for Kiruna via East Midlands, sure something special for me
Sounds nice. Too bad one probably can't book tickets on it just like that. I also like the Monarch flight to Kittilä!
Hey, nice to see pictures of Paphos/Pafos. My first real trip abroad (Sweden doesn't count) was a trip to Paphos back in 1984 I think. We flew there with an AY DC-8, certainly a special trip. I remember some of these views from Paphos, a nice and laid back town with not too much mass tourism back then. Nowadays it might be a bit different. The airport looks like it's been rebuilt a few times - back then it was just one large shack with lots of seats and a couple of gates and bars.
Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter): Finally she found me in the system, no bag to check, more surprise, it seems that´s not the usual standard here.
AHh, I love traveling on the flights where I definitely don't fit into the usual passenger demographics. Always nice to surprise the staff. Like the DY flight PLQ-RYG I took some years ago where I think I was the only pax who wasn't a Lithuanian guest worker going back to Norway or that one ARN-EPU flight where 90% of the plane were retirees on a package tour to Pärnu's Spas - I even managed to talk myself into hitching a ride to town with their tour bus. Lovely.
