These were two very quick trips, with little of interest; I post this trip report only to say how pleasantly surprised I was at the service on board United; I had booked through Air Canada and through a quirk of fate ended up on two United flights. One competely full, and one almost empty. Based on what I had read and heard, I was not looking forward to flying United. I should also say that I have been flying regularly for 40 years since I was literally 6 mos old, having grown up in an airline family. Save for the good old Wardair days, I haven't had service and attitude that was so genuine, friendly and fun than I had on United on these two flights. I should also say it was only the second US carrier I've flown - I've had several flights on American over the past 10 years; with the exception of one flight, SJU-JFK, I've never had a friendly crew...professional, but no effort to engage passengers. And while it's hit and miss on Air Canada and was total rudeness and ignorance on Royal (on the several Royal flights I was on - but not Canada 3000 who's crews almost equalled Wardair in attitude and service), I have to say that United was a breath of fresh air. While I'd believe one flight was an exception...two flights with such crews who came from different bases (LOG and ORD) tells me United must be doing something right.
One last point - ORD is an unbelievable airport that is like its own city, even when you're on UA1000 back to YYZ at 6:30 am...we pulled minutes early and were on our way, landing at Pearson 10 minutes ahead of schedule. We waited 30 minutes on the tarmac for a gate (lots were open). It amazes me the logistical precision of ORD, but in Toronto you can't even get a gate.
Anyway I just wanted to post this brief report, and to congratulate anyone who's a contributor and affileated with United.

Thank you for your kind words about United. Since september, United has made a turn around in both operational statistics as well as in employee attitudes. Yes, there are still some rotten apples out there, but for the most part, United is getting better day by day. Im really glad that you enjoyed United, and I hope that you think of UA next time you need to come to the states.
One final note: I am a firm believer of its not what you get...its how you get it. If im not mistaking, you recieved beverages on your flight. While some people want food on such a short flight, the attitude of the crew made up for that. It shows. Thank you for your kind report.

Nice to hear a good trip report on UA Like you said,there are always going to be some rotten apples in a company that employs 10's of thousands of people. I too am always amazed with ORD. Looking forward to flying to IAH on Thurs via ORD.
