Today, I was on Lufthansa's LH416, the first commercial flight of Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental.
The aircraft is nearly full around 600-1000 Euros tickets economy, 3000-4000 Euros business and around 8000-10000 Euros first. With Lufthansa's 45 guests we became part of a history.
I set on the upper deck of the aircraft. The flight from Frankfurt to Washington DC took 7 hours 50 minutes. It was really silence aircraft but my screen is not working

Gotta love that extra 747 speed......what would it be in a 333? 8.2 hours or so?
When in doubt, hold on to your altitude. No-one has ever collided with the sky.

The great history of the 747 continues, 45 years after the first series with the 8-i, probably for 45 more years. You were fortunate to be on that flight. I hope more are sold, not just as freighters and hopefully to some USA based airlines.

Ahhh Lufthansa, this B748 just goes to prove what a great airline they are!! Also, I think their cabin crew are some of the best out there. Very polite, pleasant and do not smile too much (it can get annoying).
The plane looks amazing! Thank you for posting the videos.

Thank you for the videos. I'm quite jealous that you got to fly on it! The 747-8 really is a great looking aircraft, both inside and out. And just by the sound of the video alone, I can tell it's much, much quieter than a 744.

hello. Thanks for sharing. Have you been on the 380 yet? T/O seemed quite quet. How would you compare the sound levels, that is, if tou have flown on the 380. Engine sound reminds me a bit of the 777 on spool up..

Quoting ba319-131 (Reply 6): First Class is not that impressive, seats look narrow and little privacy.
Perhaps it appears like that, but in reality it is quite different. Each seat has a huge white privacy divider that goes up around the seat, and I only see one person utilizing it in the OP's video. Having sat in the seat today at IAD, I practically disappeared behind the divider when it was up.
Cheers,

= Yes! It is very narrow and way too cramped ...

= We will have to agree to disagree . I was on this flight ... albeit in JCL and took a walk through to F and thought it was just crowded. Also, while the J seats are a VAST improvement of LH's current 10 generation behind J class, the configuration meant you have to watch from playing footsies.

First class does look narrow indeed! I had the pleasure of watching you guys arrive at IAD. I snapped quite a few photos from the Main Terminal, especially of the cannon salute.

LOL you have a lot of gutts to take the video.
I am impressed. It made me laugh.
The people sleeping in F looked like dead corpses. The passengers in Y looked miserable. The legroom in LH Y is really tight.
The most fun cabin looked to be C. The LH crews are always well groomed and the food in Y is always good.

Excellent videos! Thanks for sharing them. Also, thanks for the confidence of taking the videos on board! I am very shy when it comes to taking photos....
I used to fly LH a lot long haul, but since a change in jobs, I no longer travel with them. I would like to try the new completely flat Business Class, but it looks quite 'intimate' if you don't know the other person sitting next to you?
Like the others have said, I think they could have made a lot more of their First Class. Although it's brand new, it's already behind its competitors.

This is an amazing report and you are very lucky to be on this historic flight!
I can't wait to fly on the 747-8I.
I hope to see more orders in the future.

First class has privacy on demand....if you wish it, raise the privacy screen, if not, enjoy the view....so in that respect much better then what other airlines offer .......sentence to fly in coffins!

Fine by me I don't fly F that often, so my opinion might be invalid when compared to other F products.

The video is compressed strange.. it appears as though the image itself has been squished..
