Welcome to my 10th Trip Report:

This trip report will detail my trip back to Romania after my 3rd year in University. OK, so I had to decide what special thing I'd like to do with this journey, if any. It was clear I'd be rather tired at the end of the year so I'd want to get back as quickly as possible and leave any adventures to the summer or later. Nevertheless I had to try something new.

Well, I bought AZ tickets, which meant I could leave from ORD or from JFK or BOS. Initially I wanted to try AZ's new A330s in their new Premium Economy class. Well, I tried to purchase that itinerary on AZ's website. One time. Two times. Ten times. No can do. Not Premium Economy. Nor regular economy class. OK, fine, I'll take DL again, something I'll try to avoid from now on... Not because DL is bad, but because it's completely average and AZ/KL have better offerings transatlantically. If you've read my previous reports you know that I don't think AZ is that bad, but I think their website can be thrown in the trash immediately!

So... Here's the itinerary:

B6 906, ORD-JFK, A320, N584JB, 10:08-13:19
DL 246, JFK-FCO, A333, N814NW, 19:55-10:35+1
AZ 494, FCO-OTP, A319, EI-IMJ, 14:35-17:40

Long layovers, but with lounge access, that's not too bad. I can do absolutely nothing, just relax for the entire 9 hours spent in lounges.

The worst part was waking up at 6 am to take the no. 6 bus and the blue line to O'Hare. I'd eaten a big meal at a nice Persian restaurant downtown, and got to sleep around 1 am. There was an attempted drive-by shooting on Garfield Ave when I was coming back home, a few minutes before the 55 bus I was on passed by the scene of the crime. Lots of police cars and yellow tape, but no one died in that incident as far as I know. As you can imagine, I didn't exactly feel well-rested upon waking up, but around 6:30 I caught the 6 and then the Blue Line and arrived at the airport more or less 2 hours before my flight. Fair enough. I checked-in at the kiosk, without any problem, and then dropped my bag off (free bag on JetBlue, nice touch, compared to the other US airlines) at the desk.

Then I proceeded through security. Being used to priority access, the queue wasn't very attractive. I'd seen a empty security queue... I went to investigate. Alas, that was the AA priority line. Oh well, back to the queue... Went very quickly considering there was a Spirit-heavy presence, an airline I associate with holiday travellers, which in turn I associate with long and slow queues at security. Anyway, soon I was in front of the nude-o-scope. A lady to my right went through the metal detector with a shitload of metal jewelry and when it beeped (surprise!), she told the agent “I'll just go through the [nude-o-scope]”, to which the agent replies “no, you don't get to choose”. Then she asked her to put her metal crap on the X-ray belt and asked me if I had any metal fillings and asked me to go through the metal detector (hell yeah!). I did so and gathered my belongings. No X-ray giving me cancer this time.

Afterwards I proceeded to purchase a corned beef sandwich and a soda for 11 dollars. It wasn't bad, but overpriced for sure. I then spotted a Westjet 737 leaving for Canada and a bunch of AA ERJ-140 (both aircraft that I hope to fly on by the end of the year, provided AA doesn't change their schedules around too much).

JetBlue #906
Route: ORD-JFK
Aircraft: A320-200
Reg: N584JB
STD/STA: 10:08-13:19
ATD/ATA: 10:40-13:19 (FlightAware)
Seat: 7A, Economy

Then I went to the JetBlue gate and proceeded to take a couple of pictures and nap on their seats (well, upright, on one seat—the area was full). I was awakened by a 5-minute early boarding call—not bad! Soon it was time to board for me too (no pre-boarding). 7B and 7C were already taken when I got there, so I asked them to let me in. The lady in 7C was standing up, apparently waiting for me to arrive.

Anyway, I sat down... Good legroom. A dead bug in the window [no close-up shots, I'm not an entomologist]. A TV fitted with LiveTV. That worked only on some channels, apparently.

I napped until take-off, which always wakes me up, no matter what. Captain Rivera (I think that was his name, not really sure, just a PA) told us the flight time would be around 1h 35'. Probably said other things too, but I was napping, as I said.

Anyway, after take-off I was itching to find the Netherlands-Denmark game that was on... I knew it'd be on ESPN or ESPN2 (thought the latter)... Of course, guess what 2 channels didn't work! Well, I managed to catch 15 minutes from the game, but the Dutch were losing 0-1 and, as them being my favorite team aside from Romania, I was disappointed. Couldn't see any of the 2nd half as the ESPN didn't work again.

Anyway, we were served the soft drink of our choice (I chose coke, no ice... typical choice for me. It's either that or apple juice in the US). The Asian-American FA took our drink order and came back with a few drinks on a tray—no clogging the aisles with a big cart, good idea. Then we were free to choose from a wide variety of snacks in a basket. There were blue chips and several other choices—I don't remember. Certainly a better choice than other US airlines. Well, here are the choices:

PopCorners Popcorn Chips
Terra Blues Potato Chips
Linden's Chocolate Chip Cookies
King Nut Fancy Nut Mix
Stauffer's Animal Crackers
Quaker Multigrain Fiber Crisp

According to: http://www.jetblue.com/flying-on-jetblue/snacks-and-drinks/

I chose the cookies this time. Not bad for the USA. So, I think I'd definitely recommend JetBlue if asked. They seem to be a good airline.

Anyway... We arrived basically on-time, just a few minutes late at the gate, due to the long, 4 minute taxi from the runway. We disembarked soon, and it seemed people were getting antsy and ready to board their flight to LAS N584JB would be operating next—the corridor was partly blocked. As luck would have it, this gate, 27 (?), was the furthest one from the exit (in this part of the terminal at least). No worries, I walked leisurely, even stopped to see how the Dutch were doing, used the little boys' room, walked leisurely some more... And then still waited for another 20 minutes for the bags to be ready... Oh, mine is among the first ones out? Why, thank you, JetBlue!

OK, now it was time to walk to the AirTrain stop... A long walk, but I got to see the much-tinier-than-I-expected Eero Saarinen terminal in front of T5. I was a bit surprised at the small size, but it makes sense—not that many people travelled in the 50s and 60s.

Anyway, I took the AirTrain to T4, because I'd never been to that terminal... Or have I? What terminal did RO use in 1999/2000? Was it T3? I think it was T3, because I remember it being very dark and my vague memories from 12 years ago tell me we used gate 12. Well, if that's the case, yeah, I've never been to T4 before! Exciting, eh?

So, I checked-in. My FCO-OTP segment was not displayed by the check-in machine. Of course not, it's an Alitalia ticket after all, why expect anything to work easily?! Well, I got the first boarding pass, and had to get my bags tagged. There didn't seem to be a priority line, but hey, I wasn't in any hurry, nor was I feeling that tired anymore. So I waited for all the Swedish passengers in front of me to get their bags tagged, etc. Well, in fact, the DL agents who were seemingly doing nothing but directing people (while there was a huge queue forming at the desks...) directed me to drop-off my bags because I'd failed to remove the ORD-JFK tag, confusing me, but then I started to queue. Only took about 10-15 minutes and I was next. I asked for a boarding pass to OTP... No can do, well, no surprise there, really... How about a printed itinerary receipt so I wouldn't queue for 45' in FCO just to be turned back for not having a valid boarding pass/itinerary? Good, thanks! Lounge? They advised me to go to T3 since the T4 lounge is before security. Fair enough... Although I get the feeling the Oasis lounge might be a bit better. Anyway, they tagged my bags properly (after 10' of processing, etc, since... I don't know what exactly!) and I dropped them off, and proceeded to security.

Well, I was ready and placed my bags on the belt, steadily. There was this guy behind me, who was in a big hurry, apparently. Apparently the three seconds he could have saved if I was in a hurry meant a lot to him. He practically bumped into me and certainly wanted to push my stuff in quicker. You know, that kind of thing pisses me off. I'm not slow, honestly, just not in a hurry. If you say “excuse me, I have to catch a flight”, I'll let you go ahead. If you say nothing, I'll also say nothing. Went through the metal detector, so did Mr. “Iminahurry”. He sped past me and went to the belt to pick his things up. Mine weren't out yet... well, my backpack was. The way everything was positioned meant he couldn't get out without either saying sorry or knocking past me. My backpack and stuff were still in front of him, so he decided to touch my stuff without asking and move it forward. OK. Well, guess what, I can also be passive-aggressive. I'm not proud of it, but I was tired and the guy simply pissed me off. So I took my sweet time in taking my stuff, putting my laptop back in my backpack, putting my shoes back on... Well, you catch the drift. I wanted to hear just a “sorry”/”excuse me” from him. Nah, he picked up his stuff and tried to squeeze by me (there was a little room). OK, no problem. Think, people! The guy lost more time because of his non-strategic thinking than he gained because he rushed by me.

I visited T4 and saw some interesting aircraft around, some of which are pictured below.

There was even a JetBlue here. Well, hello, aren't you far away from home?

The EK A380 was present and I had a good view of its massiveness.

Then I took the shuttle bus to T3, being entertained by a funny guy of Caribbean origin (according to his accent), talking about basketball with the driver. Well, I only understood half of what he was saying. No, not because of his accent, but because I'm not a basketball fan. Soon, we arrived at T3 and disembarked via a lot of inclined planes, entering T3 by gate 11. I headed to a SkyClub but they sent me to another, bigger one. Fair enough. I got myself some earl grey tea and watched the Germany-Portugal game on TV. Germany one, Portugal zero. Good, I hate Cristiano Ronaldo, because I think he's way over-hyped. After the game was over, I moved to one of the mini-rooms where you could charge your apparatuses in peace (my camera was running out of batteries; I'd forgotten to charge it the night before). I grabbed a few snacks, some more tea, burned my tongue, some dessert. Soon, it was time to board DL246, so I went to gate 15.

Or should I say Gatestaurant 15? Yeah, an interesting idea, I suppose. A restaurant in the middle of the gate. It also meant not enough seats, so it was total madness, especially since it was a Rome flight. Everyone lined-up except me. I passed everyone lining up when boarding via the priority lane. Apparently there was some thing “wrong” with my passport info they had, or something, so I was to wait a few minutes until they fixed it. OK, sure. Then I boarded the A330-300 and went to my seat, 16A.

Well, to be honest, there's not much I can say regarding this flight. It was your typical TATL flight.

During taxi I snoozed again, and again I woke up right before take-off... Then, I enjoyed a free episode of Dexter and then the 2nd installment in the Robert Downey Jr's Sherlock Holmes. During this, I did not enjoy my meal, which was exactly like the one on ORD-CDG, which I claimed the worst meal ever. At least the chicken was a bit more moist this time.

The flight was rather short, about 7h 30', which isn't bad. This means that after eating, watching movies and the moving map, I could sleep for about 3 hours before waking up upon descent. I missed breakfast, thank God, because I know exactly what it was going to be and I wasn't in the mood!

We landed on runway 16R at FCO and then taxied to gate 12(?) in concourse G. Then I proceeded to security, expecting a huge queue. However, there was just one person ahead of me. What, a painless transfer in FCO? You're kidding me! No way. Way!

I then walked up the steps to Le Navi lounge. I could've gone to Giotto lounge in concourse G, but it has no windows so I'm not really a fan. This way, I got my boarding pass, made sure my flight would leave from concourse G and also got to see some planes while I relaxed in the AZ lounge, almost by myself. I didn't take any pics, as somehow I feel taking pictures in a lounge is a bit nouveau-riche (although I do it, on occasion). I probably would've taken pictures if there was no one there, like in the RO lounge at OTP, but there was always at least one person there.

Five hours in Le Navi, surfing the web. They had mini sandwiches with different sorts of salami and cheese, to which I helped myself. I had to ask for a couple of cokes but with the practically empty lounge that was never a problem. Well, soon it came time to leave the lounge and do a little spotting... at concourse G.

Some interesting aircraft types written down here:

How many Romanian destinations can you find on the FIDS?

Well, the flight to OTP was about to board. They didn't call priority boarding (well, they did, but didn't seem to enforce it), which made sense knowing it was a bus gate. Hey, the bus was by this nice A330. How to miss an opportunity to take a few pictures?

Alitalia #494
Route: FCO-OTP
Aircraft: A319-100

STD-STA: 14:35-17:40
ATD-ATA: approximately 14:35-17:20
Seat: 05F, Economy

Boarding went decently fast and soon enough the bus was full (i'm guessing about 70/80 passengers). We started driving towards Venezia... Well, it certainly seems that way, considering our A319 was on the other side of FCO. The drive took 10 minutes or so... Once the doors were open, it was a free for all to the A319, but I still managed to take a couple of pics.

Here's an underwing shot with a dedication to Markus... Well, as close as I could get, anyway

Other boarding shots:

A319, no PTVs here, but OK legroom.

MD-80 graveyard:

There was a lady with a huge dog cage sitting on 5D. The cabin crew would not allow her to sit there since the cage was oversize. She had to move to a window and middle seat towards the back so the cage wouldn't impede my exit in an emergency situation. This meant someone from a window seat would have to move to 5D. BTW, I think AZ kept the middle seat empty on purpose—and I'd like to thank them for that. Anyway, the girl who was moved forward also wanted a window, but yeah, I'd like a “finestrino” too, thank you. No problem, I kept mine, and certainly appreciated the views. OK, so far so good, boarding was complete way earlier but the dog issue kept us standing still for about 5 minutes. Luckily, the runway was basically only 2 minutes away from our parking position, so no delay here. We didn't even start at the beginning of the runway, took off with 2445m of runway left (I think) according to the airport signs. Over the sea departure, and then a 180 degree turn, and over Pescara and Sarajevo en route to Bucharest. Typical AZ in flight service, apricot juice and I think the salty snacks.

Here are a few pictures of Bucharest just before landing, dedicated to FlyingFinn, of course, Bucharest being his “favorite” city.

And the new OTP terminal, sorry about the picture quality.

Well, it was time to land, following a Blue Air 734. The taxi in was fast, but longer than in both JFK and FCO, which was hilarious. We docked at gate 13, which is the same gate I'd used when leaving OTP on March 24th. The passport control lasted all of 2 seconds. “Buna ziua”. “La revedere”. The bags came out fast (and I was the first or second one out of passport control), anyway, certainly faster than in JFK, for example. Then, into the city and on to watching Spain-Italy.

Thanks for reading, everyone. Comments always appreciated.

Hi Alex !

Nice report with nice pictures !

Too bad you didn't get enough sleep before the flight. I find it very important for me to be fully rested before an intercontinental flight or perhaps it's because I'm getting old....

Looks like B6 has nice legroom and seems to be a nice carrier to fly.

DL seems to be okay although not amazing. I think you should lower your expectations when you fly to be positively surprised.

I'm not surprised that you couldn't not get a boarding pass the whole way since you are on tow different carriers. I've heard that they have some issue like that on Skyteam carriers. With Star Alliance, thru check in seems to work better.

I think RO used T4 before but don't think T4 had been refurbished at that time. T4 now is very nice; before it was very old....1960s/1970s style.

You really should have tried the non stop ORD-FCO on AZ on the 330. Probably would have been better than the DL flight.

Pictures from FCO looks very familiar since I was there about two weeks ago.

Looking for forward to your next report!

Honestly, it could have been worse. I usually don't do well being tired, but I suffered no major frustration during this trip. It went very smoothly.

Yeah, that's about right about B6. They seem to be a notch above, considering what they offer...

I think DL is also a good choice domestically, but internationally, they're not up to par IMO.

Well, SkyTeam's integration could be better, but that's not the problem. In OTP, I basically always get through boarding passes to wherever I'm going. In the US, almost never. I understand Alitalia uses a different system, but it even happens when my first segment is with Alitalia!

Unfortunately I've had a really bad experience with a United/Austrian connection in 2000, so from then on, I decided to not fly UA in connection with any other carrier. I have flown them to Hawaii, and interestingly enough I got E+ twice on their 777, although in a middle seat.

DL on the other hand was never not helpful if something went wrong... That's why I chose DL/SkyTeam as my alliance. I'm sure some had the exact opposite experience.

Ah, fair enough! I know it was either T3 or T4, but it certainly wasn't this modern-looking T4. Before being refurbished, now that makes sense! Thanks for the information.

Yeah, I only flew AZ transatlantically once, on their aging 767, but it was a positive experience, minus the lacking window in my row.

Thanks very much for your comment!

Hi Eric,

Yeah, those pics are missing. I was upset by being served the same meal as on my ORD-CDG meal, which I absolutely hated, so I decided to not take any pics. It was basically identical to the one shown here:

Maybe we have psychic powers, haha. Anyway, it seems I can just tell when we're about to take-off. Definitely happens to me at ORD and ATL, both of which can have massive taxi times. It's a bit rarer in Europe for me.

Next one should be a domestic US flight on an interesting type. Afterwards, a bit more interesting--towards the end of July, though.

Thanks for your comments, guys!

Try Alitalia next time if possible. Or DELTA but get on an AZ flight.

Nice report, and thanks for flying JetBlue! I'm sorry to hear your TV didn't work properly. Unfortunately, they are a little finicky from time to time. If you send a quick note to JetBlue via our SpeakUp section on the website and include your flight number and confirmation number, the nice folks over in Salt Lake City will be able to hook you up with a small voucher toward your next flight.

Hi there!

Thanks for reading--yeah, I wanted to try JetBlue for a while and this was a good opportunity. Wow, a voucher for liveTV partly not working? I wouldn't have expected that, but I'll give it a try, thanks for the tip!

Alex

Thanks for your comments, guys!

Hi Stipica!

Yeah, what can I say, I don't think this is my best work, haha, few pictures before JFK due to my forgetful nature which in turn means I didn't charge the battery beforehand (well, there are other developments that contributed to this)

Then, DL's meal depressed me... Actually I was thinking of writing up just the FCO-OTP segment, but I thought that something is better than nothing. JFK-FCO is unfortunately not TR worthy, sorry about that!

Thanks for your comments. You can expect better things in the future, I promise

Hi Alex,

That’s what I call exciting travel memoires. So many details, so many emotions, love it!

Quoting dc9northwest (Thread starter):
Not because DL is bad, but because it's completely average and AZ/KL have better offerings transatlantically.

Too bad, you could not make any deal with AZ directly.

Quoting dc9northwest (Thread starter):
I'd eaten a big meal at a nice Persian restaurant downtown, and got to sleep around 1 am

Mind telling me what you ordered?

Quoting dc9northwest (Thread starter):
There was an attempted drive-by shooting on Garfield Ave when I was coming back home

No wonder you did not sleep well.

Quoting dc9northwest (Thread starter):
A lady to my right went through the metal detector with a shitload of metal jewelry and when it beeped (surprise!), she told the agent “I'll just go through the [nude-o-scope]”,

She’s somehow too relaxed about the procedure.

Quoting dc9northwest (Thread starter):
I proceeded to purchase a corned beef sandwich and a soda for 11 dollars. It wasn't bad, but overpriced for sure

Oh dear, what would they charge you for a beer?

Quoting dc9northwest (Thread starter):
Anyway, I sat down... Good legroom

This typical roomy seating Jet Blue arrangement has always amazed me.

Quoting dc9northwest (Thread starter):
Anyway, after take-off I was itching to find the Netherlands-Denmark game that was on..

JetBlue indeed has on board live television!

Quoting dc9northwest (Thread starter):
Well, here are the choices:

No appropriate JetBlue flight without blue chips.

Quoting dc9northwest (Thread starter):
directed me to drop-off my bags because I'd failed to remove the ORD-JFK tag, confusing me

And me as well. Why did they do that to you? For the sake of efficiency?

Quoting dc9northwest (Thread starter):
He practically bumped into me and certainly wanted to push my stuff in quicker.

What an Ill-mannered guy!

Quoting dc9northwest (Thread starter):
The guy lost more time because of his non-strategic thinking than he gained because he rushed by me.

The sad thing is that the guy did not get the message.

Quoting dc9northwest (Thread starter):
Well, I only understood half of what he was saying. No, not because of his accent, but because I'm not a basketball fan

The same with me if they are talking about soccer.

Quoting dc9northwest (Thread starter):
Or should I say Gatestaurant 15? Yeah, an interesting idea, I suppose. A restaurant in the middle of the gate. It also meant not enough seats, so it was total madness

I assume no admittance to sitting area to non restaurant guests? The owner of the restaurant must be paying a fortune to rent that spot.

Quoting dc9northwest (Thread starter):
I didn't take any pics, as somehow I feel taking pictures in a lounge is a bit nouveau-riche (although I do it, on occasion).

If I take pictures in a lounge, I keep telling myself that it is for the promotion’s sake.

Quoting dc9northwest (Thread starter):
How many Romanian destinations can you find on the FIDS

Err, two?

Quoting dc9northwest (Thread starter):
A319, no PTVs here, but OK legroom.

Wow! It can be easily 34 inch!

Quoting dc9northwest (Thread starter):
Anyway, the girl who was moved forward also wanted a window, but yeah, I'd like a “finestrino” too, thank you. No problem, I kept mine, and certainly appreciated the views

How brutal of her to claim your legally acquired window seat!

Quoting dc9northwest (Thread starter):
And the new OTP terminal, sorry about the picture quality.

Great pic! Nothing wrong with the quality!

Thank you for sharing the transatlantic journey through your eyes.

Best regards,
Suryo.

Another really nice report, dc9northwest!

JetBlue looks great for the ORD-JFK flight, I've passed by their gates at ORD several times of late and I always wish I could fly them from MSP-ORD instead of DL!
Quoting dc9northwest (Thread starter):

I fly on DL more than any other airline, and yes, they are very average. Not bad, just not that great. You get what you get, and nothing else. That's the state of flying in the US these days though!

AZ looks nice, and cool photos from FCO!

Best,

Matthew

Hi Suryo,

First, thank you for your comments!

Quoting akhmad (Reply 13):
Mind telling me what you ordered?

I had what they called "Kabob Sultani", for my main course. We also ordered Roasted Feta Cheese and Stuffed Mushrooms as starters.
Quoting akhmad (Reply 13):
Oh dear, what would they charge you for a beer?

It probably would have jumped above 15$. Though, I'm not sure they offered beer in that particular place.

Quoting akhmad (Reply 13):
This typical roomy seating Jet Blue arrangement has always amazed me.

Yes, it's surprising to me as well. I believe it's so that they only need 3 flight attendants per flight on the A320, which means they can't have more than 150 seats.
Quoting akhmad (Reply 13):
No appropriate JetBlue flight without blue chips.

Hah, indeed! In hindsight, the blue chips would've been a more typical choice.

Quoting akhmad (Reply 13):
And me as well. Why did they do that to you? For the sake of efficiency?

I am not sure. There were check-in kiosks and baggage drop-off desks (of which 2 were manned), and also 5 or 6 Delta agents who were just standing around, supposedly helping passengers. I say, would it not have been more efficient to simply place some more agents at a drop-off desk? The queue was getting a bit too long...

Quoting akhmad (Reply 13):
The sad thing is that the guy did not get the message.

He did not. And it certainly did not seem he was in a hurry. He walked away at a normal pace, so I certainly don't feel bad, as it was clear he wasn't missing his flight.

Quoting akhmad (Reply 13):
The same with me if they are talking about soccer.

Hah, well, it's a very cultural thing. I grew up with soccer... Obviously not everyone has the same experience. Do you watch any sporting events?

Quoting akhmad (Reply 13):
I assume no admittance to sitting area to non restaurant guests? The owner of the restaurant must be paying a fortune to rent that spot.

I'm not really sure. Some people were sitting down in the gate area, without having anything at their tables. However, that seemed more of an exception. I think the idea is to make people think it's expected to buy something when it's not. People will feel bad and spend some money.

Quoting akhmad (Reply 13):
If I take pictures in a lounge, I keep telling myself that it is for the promotion’s sake.

A good idea
Quoting akhmad (Reply 13):
Err, two?

Hah, in fact, it's a bit more than that. Actually, there are 7 flights to 5 different destinations total, on both screens   As I like to say, if you've never heard of the cities on a FIDS in FCO, they're probably Romanian cities
Quoting akhmad (Reply 13):
How brutal of her to claim your legally acquired window seat!

Not to mention, the lady with the dog also wanted to push the cage to the window seat, and her to sit in the middle seat, and me in the aisle seat. No, thanks!

Although, I would have accepted the cage under the seat in front of me, had it been able to fit.

Quoting akhmad (Reply 13):
Great pic! Nothing wrong with the quality!

Thank you very much, Suryo! I really appreciate your comments and the fact that you took the time to read my report

Indeed, no US airline is that great, but B6 seems a notch above. This coming from a loyal DL flyer. Of course, no chance to upgrade on B6

Hi Alex,

Thanks for this good TATL story. So I assume this trip was a self-made itineray in the aspect that all flights were on a separate ticket. Could be risky business on these longer flights
I see a good standard flight on B6; for some reason this airline has intrigued me for years. I think due to them being one of the first to introduce PTV’s on their narrowbody fleet. I also like the naming of their planes, usually there’s something ‘blue’ involved. What was the name of yours?

DL, nothing special, although I would have liked to see what their catering was like
And then AZ, a good performance as well by the looks of it. There seems to be a steady flow of AZ reports lately and they mostly have a positive tone to them. Loved the sunny pics in FCO.

Hi Nils,

Yes, I was connecting on a self-made itinerary... Well, I wouldn't've done if I didn't have the money in the account to buy another ticket on the spot, I suppose! That's why this is only the 2nd time I'm connecting on a self-made itinerary *towards* a TATL flight

Yeah, JetBlue is an interesting carrier. Hah, mine was named Blue Fox, which isn't the best name I've seen, but maybe I'm missing something...

Sorry about the lack of catering pics on the longer segment. However, feel free to look back here: March 2012, ORD-CDG, Delta, 763 (by dc9northwest Apr 8 2012 in Trip Reports) . It's exactly the same thing

Thanks for reading, Nils, and for leaving a comment. Much appreciated

FINALLY, I get to see reports from your summer! Thanks for putting this up so quickly. You really do need to put pics of the meal service   ... not all of us are TATL regulars from North America!

Quoting dc9northwest (Thread starter):
Well, I bought AZ tickets, which meant I could leave from ORD or from JFK or BOS. Initially I wanted to try AZ's new A330s in their new Premium Economy class. Well, I tried to purchase that itinerary on AZ's website. One time. Two times. Ten times. No can do. Not Premium Economy.

= Sad isn't it. You would think the AZ (and other airlines) would go out of their way and lower distribution costs by going all GDS and making it as seamless as possible!

Quoting dc9northwest (Thread starter):

= Not really a good endorsement for Skyteam is it?

Quoting dc9northwest (Thread starter):
got myself some earl grey tea and watched the Germany-Portugal game on TV. Germany one, Portugal zero. Good, I hate Cristiano Ronaldo,

= Why  ? It will end up being a Portugal beating Germany final anyways  .

Thanks a lot for the report.

Saludos,
A.

First of all, thanks for taking your time out of your busy schedule to read this TR. Your comments are much appreciated!

Haha, yeah, I know. Sorry about that. I was very upset at what I was served. It may seem like a small thing, but, well, the meal really upset me at the time.
