My First Trip Report-Part 1: ATL-MAA || June 19
Hi! I am Rahul. This is my first trip report. I traveled from Atlanta to Chennai, India to see my grandparents. We go to India every year. It was a 5-hour drive to Atlanta from Tennessee, where we live. I don’t know how to add pictures, so can someone hep? I have attached a link to the pictures. BTW, sorry for the some of the poor quality pictures, I used my phone. Some were taken with my cam, but the majority with my phone.
We arrived at the airport at about 3:00. We checked in, and went through security. I don’t have any photos of the new terminal, but it is amazing. I went to the Duty Free Shop, and bought a new Swatch watch with money that I had saved up. Then we went to the gate, F7. Boarding started, and as we were seated in row 43, we were one of the first to board, as Lufthansa boards from back to front for economy. I was in seat 43 A.
The Flight
We got onboard and settled down in our seats. The entertainment box in the “A” seats takes up a lot of legroom, so I felt a bit cramped. Lufthansa’s entertainment programs are quite good, but compared to Emirates or Jet Airways, they need to improve. The crew on this flight were exceptional. They gave very good service, and attended to our every need. I think Lufthansa is one of the only airlines to give hot towels to economy passengers. The meals were quite good for economy, and the Indian Food was very good. I watched 3 movies, and spent the rest of the time looking out of the window watching the sunset.
We landed in Frankfurt on time and got off, only to realize that our next flight would depart in 30 minutes. We arrived at gate Z16, in Terminal 1. On our taxi to the gate, we passed many interesting planes like Lufthansa’s new 747-8, D-ABYA. We also passed an ANA 787-8. We rushed off the plane and took the skytrain to the B gates, where our next flight would depart.
We got to the gate just as boarding was being conducted.
Flight: 2
June 20, 2012
LH 758 FRA-MAA
Equipment: A340-311
Reg: D-AIGI “Worms”
Duration: 8h 53m
Departure: 11:23 AM CEST
Arrival: 11:46 PM IST

We got onboard almost immediately after arriving from Atlanta. My seat was 37K, a window with the same legroom problem. The seat itself was comfortable though. On this flight, I mainly slept though I watched Journey 2: The Mysterious Island, which I highly recommend. Soon enough, we were descending into Chennai, and flew over the docks, and over the main city. We had a soft landing, accompanied by hard but smooth braking. We passed the new terminal, which looks great. It hasn’t opened yet though. We parked at a gate at the old terminal at a gate (didn’t catch the number). We disembarked, and went through Customs. It went surprisingly fast. But it took an hour for our bags to come out, which was not surprising considering the mess at the airport, and the amount of passengers.
Overall, this trip was very good. The crew was nice, but most stayed aloof from the passengers. Lufthansa has always been my favorite airline, and I have over 80,000 miles on them.
Part 2 will cover my stay in Europe and possible upgrade, coming up in August.

saw the take-off video. wow. it sure seemed to take a lot of runway, but the engines are quite quiet, not a loud 'whine' like others. looking forward to your next report
