I was Turkish airlines adv. in Facebook offering flights for only 99 euros from Sofia and some other Balkan cities that are visa free for Turks. This was very good chance for one day trip to this amazing city. The main goal on this trip was to visit Basilica Cistern, to try new airline and buy some Dogus black tea from airport supermarket (last one is my tradition when I visit IST)
Sunday morning - SOF is empty.

I expected Boing, but this also works for me:

Turkish airlines are my personal number one carrier so far. Their planes are clean, FA are very professional, Safety demo is done by Manchester United stars, there are 8 music channels and catering is more than I ever expected. The only thing that I didn't like was the legroom on A319.

A great, albeit brief TR, eco. Good stuff. I'm flying this same route with TK later in the year so it was nice to see what to expect. They seem to be doing a great job, which is good to know.
Nice to see A2 in SOF. Is SKG now connected with SOF or was this some kind of a random charter? I would love to see some regularly scheduled flights between the two cities, even though I'm not sure how viable it would be.

It looks awfully cute in FB's paint scheme. I'm loving it.

That's pretty awesome. Like the good old days in other carriers. It seems like the short duration of a flight makes no difference to TK. Thumbs up.

Nice trip report. I'll be doing the reverse in August to check out SOF!

I can't believe you got a meal in both direction! In the U.S. on most carriers even if you are first class you do not get a meal if the flight is under 2 hours. In fact in most cases if you are in first class on a red-eye from the west coast to east coast (around a 5 hour flight) you won't get a meal!
It concerns me that the load factor was so small....TK can't keep flying that route at 40% load factor!

Quoting Tomskii (Reply 1): Haa good to see those places I've been to a few months ago! (Like the cistern)
Istanbul is amazing city. We are planing trip next year. I hope that TK will lunch another promotion or I will fly from SKP with Pegasus.

I hope that I'll will fly on one of them in September.

Hope to see trip report about Bulgaria.
Quoting SloAir (Reply 4): Nice report eco, and thanks for telling me about this promotion. If I wouldn't have just been to Istanbul I would have probably used it
Thank you. I am glad that you like it.

Me too. Its not usual, the only other carriers serving such meal are A3 and OA.

It hard to make any conclusions from only one flight. I am sure TK know what they are doing.

Hi eco,
nice little report here, thanks a lot. A trip to IST is coming up as well from my side (although not on TK, but on Austrian) so it was good to read about it. Looks like you had two very nice flights with Turkish, their service seems to be really top. Excellent meal for such a short flight.
