...well not really...but I have.  Laugh out loud Those tiled floors in the B concourse are murder.

Anyways, I was in Denver again. This time it was because DeltaSFO begged me to go with him as he cashed in some UA miles. I said that I would meet him in Denver. So here goes. BTW: Im gonna try to keep this trip report a bit brief.

I woke up at 4am for my 6am flight to Denver. I got dressed in slacks and a polo shirt. After grabbing a few last minute items, I headed out to the car for the drive to the Milbrae Caltrain station near SFO. I took the first shuttle at 5:10am, which dropped me off at 5:15am next to the AA baggage claim. In SFO, non-revs are allowed to use the employee checkpoint, so I made use of it. I cleared security after having my bag impeaches and shoes swiped.

I made my way down to gate 80 where ship N767UA or 2367 was waiting for her morning flight to Denver. I checked in, and was put on the stand by list. This mornings flight was about 75% full, but the agent said that it would be no problem getting on.

At around 5:40am I was cleared to seat 12J in the Business class cabin. This is one of the 777s with Economy Plus? and Enhanced Business?. The flight attendant offered me orange juice, and I settled in for the flight. As all passengers should, I reviewed the safety card, which I noticed had a new design on it. After over 10 years, UA has changed their safety cards. Interesting.

This rather attractive 1K sat down next to me. She was busy on her cell phone, and I really didn't talk to her much, until later on. The door was closed, and we were on our way to Denver. For the record, our flight pushed right on schedule at 6:00am. Channel 9 was active for this flight.

The crew did the safety demonstration, and we taxied to runway 1L. I loved it on channel 9 where the tower told America West to go faster because there was a 777 ridding up their tail pipe. No wonder we slowed down. :-(

The engines spooled up, and I was shot back into my seat. We rotated rather quickly, way before the 28s and flew up into the air. The purser described teh service, the entertainment, as well as read the new UA announcment about cabin curtains. Shortly after, I took a little nap.

Once the beverage service began, I got a Pepsi with a lemmon in it. I have to find someway to make it taiste good.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

The captain gave us his welcome and said the following: "...and ladies and gentlemen, we here at United want you to have some fun. If you have any questions for us, please let us know by asking the flight attendants. We will be happy to answer them."

I wrote down the following questions and got the following answers:
1. What are the possibilities of 777s flying SFO-SYD? What are the ETOPS restrictions on that?
207 min ETOPS (180+15%). LAX now does LAX-AKL

2. Is the south pacific certified for ETOPS180?
Y

3. What payload restrictions are there on the LAX-AKL route on the 777 vs those found on the 747?
We heard that they were removing payload to get enough gas on the aircraft

Then the FD crew asked about what my dad does. I wrote them a note back on a cocktail napkin.

Breakfast on this flight was a breakfast sandwich or a ham egg and cheese bagle. It was ok. Nothing special. It was served with a side of fruit and a muffin (my choice from a basket).

We landed 15 minutes early, but had to wait for our gate to clear. Once inside the terminal, I met up with DeltaSFO. He went on to IAD, I went back home in Economy Plus on the 767-300. We got beverages and snack mix on that flight.

Well David, I am glad to see you starting off the summer well with travels on the spur of the moment! There best be plenty more of that in the coming month and a half left of summer! No matter how nice of flights you had and how much you enjoyed it, you still would have had a better time going to New York with me! Now its my turn for the trip report!

Cheers!
Brian

Nice report,David. I'm not very thrilled that UA switched to Pepsi, either. What am I supposed to mix my Jack Daniels with ????
Looking forward to fling to LAX in two weeks on a 744 for the first time, too.
