Hi and welcome to my first TR!
This Trip Report will include my flights to JOE.
Why Finland? Because I have some relatives up there and want to visit them.
The plan is: 2 weeks JOE and than rent a car and drive up to RVN and stay there also about 2 weeks.
Flightmap: Tuesday, 24.07.12
I woke up at 7:15 am and first took a shower and after ate some breakfast.
After some minutes I was ready and waiting for my taxi, and it arrived on time, good service!
The ride to the airport was about 45 mins.
First thing to-do was to drop the baggage as I've already done web check-in.
Check-in à Zürich
By the way, Zürich gets a whole new Check-in 2 hall, they are renovating the whole 30 years? old Check-in hall.
After Check-in i went thru the new Boardingpasscontrol machine and quickly walk to the Security Control.
Finally Im in the Airside Center.
My gate was A86 which is located at the very end of Terminal A, what follows is the long and boring corridor walk to the gate area. When I've arrived the status of the flight already was at "Go to Gate"
Take me to Helsinki!
It switched fast to the "boarding"-status and as always first the last rows should board and after that the others, OneWorld members could join whenever they want.
When I stepped inside I was quite surprised to see that this bird already got the new cabin-design.
The seat was confy.
The legroom was better now
What are you doing in ZRH? I've never saw you here! Anyone know, what the plane did here?
How did you got there?
However, now the usual things happend like Safety demonstration or some announcements about our flight, the flight would took us 2.35 hours.
Push back was done, and the fast taxi to our runway followed.
Lining up at Runway 28
In the background you can see the Lake of Zürich or simply "Zürichsee"

Than the rather boring part of the flight has began, but I've got something!
Than the Food was served but I didn't took the sandwich, I've asked my neighbor how it was and he said the sandwich was a bit dry but ok.
The time flies when you do something and soon it was time to descend.
Touch down on Runway 22L
Breaking and yes we are in Helsinki!
Guys, what are you building?
ATR-Farm dedicated to FlyingFinn76
So now there are 3.30 hours to spend in Helsinki, but they also go very fast when you are going to search a seat in a bar. I was walking thru the whole terminals, see whats new etc.
There were just a way too much people and thats the reason why I didn't took so much photos.
But I'll share the typical Helsinki-Vantaa Airport overview.
I think we know who is the king here.
Later it was time to board our plane to JOE. The departure gate was 21A which is a bus gate.
- Flightinformation -
Airlines: Flybe Nordic (In old Finncomm livery)
Boarding took years, we were already waiting in the bus but there were still missing some people.. but finally they arrived.
Take me to JOE!
Flighttime was announced as 50 min.
Pushback was under our own power and we made a race against a bus.
Lining up at Runway 22L
Rotate and bye bye Helsinki, see you in 3 weeks again
Breaking thru the clouds
The service started pretty fast but when I saw that you couln't get any free coffee or tea I were a bit angry.
A bit later the clouds disappeared and the beauty of karelia was in sight!
This is the "Pyhäselkä"-lake, its a very big one.
The descend to Joensuu already began an brought us some nice views from the town
Yes we are in Joensuu
Underwing-shot for FLIEGER67
Stay tuned for part 2 which includes my travel up to Rovaniemi and my flights back to Zürich.
I would like to see your comments!

Hei! And thanks for the TR! I really liked the "FinnBe"
I learned to love ZRH last summer when I flew SIN-ZRH-HEL, it felt so friendly and comfy after a long tiring flight.
It seems I took the same AY flight to HEL, I was just missing the flight numbers/times in your TR.

I haven't tried the new(est) AY seats myself yet, looks quite good. Their A319 used to have the oldest seats with the best legroom, favoured by many.

Can't have a trip report without a picture of the grub! No matter how bad it is...
Yes, pictures please! The more detailed the better

I find that the sandwiches they serve in whY class on Swiss flights aren't too bad. Really.
Then comes the very best part: the lady or gentleman FA coming around the cabin with a basket of Swiss chocolates. I like the new white cover. A change from the red one we are so used to.
Come back for seconds! Please!

Zurich airport... sweet memories of the very first A380 landing with Singapore Airlines... 3 of us had a fantastic time on the inaugural flight sharing that one huge leather Business seat!!!!
