Bonjour, dear readers,

just three days after the last time I stepped off a plane

Norway, My Love, By Train, Ship And Sure, Plane (by FLIEGER67 Jul 14 2012 in Trip Reports)

it´s me again, to do some flights.
But wait, not only me, there is someone else also on the way. "Travelled with nice accompaniment",
sounds perfectly fitting for today´s device.
One of these less explored places a la francais is the destination and of course, also the new entry to my departure airports map.

Here it is, updated with no. 216:

Departure Airports II auf einer größeren Karte anzeigen

Also the earlier 200 stations:

Departure airports auf einer größeren Karte anzeigen

The itinerary looks like this,
painting a sharp triangle on western Europe:

Thanx to, as usual:

And dont forget the latest flown routes:

Well, here we go!.

Service Air France AF 5411 operated by Regional CAE
Scheduled: 06.50 // 07.40

My southern german sense forced me to do not pay much of these additional fees added to you´re booking when you´re close to fix it.
No way here, Wideroe wins my business with a low service fee.
Leg one and two are booked together, the fare per leg 60.00 Euro´s this way. Not that really low cost, but anyway acceptable from my point of view.
The german stranger booked by Norwegian company Wideroe to fly domestic in France. Well not only myself found these combination somewhat special.
Also AF´s OLCI system don´t want to accept me today.
Not possible due to a third party booking!.
Thank you AF, half an hour less to sleep this night
to arrive a bit earlier at the airport than planned.
No way to go without my seat of choice.
The cell phone asked me, if this is really correct, 02.30 am wake up for the ride through the black forrest and some well timed arrival.
Yes, it seems so!.
My travel companion received the same no OLCI message, even if it´s not a third party booking. Well, AFKL is a somewhat special company.
Just pure coincidence, we arrived close to the same time at the airport.
Bonjour madame, looking forward to a nice day in the air.
Who is she?.
Well, we will see!.
Checking the self service kiosks and by surprise, it works this way.
The warm welcomed and well needed Embraer 135 is on schedule and also on the seatmap, 12A for me.
Immediatelly changed later on for 14A, the last row window.
Well, what about my travel companion?. Is she perhaps these italian singer, in need for a break from her usual routine on stage?.
This question remains open.
Anyway, she decides also for row 14, the other side, good for some more chat in between.
Some well used minutes to wait and talk at security.
Ready for a first view to the apron.
No, not this one, at least not today
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FPau1201/F1201001.jpg
Well, Easy is not going the easy way, but AF does

No chance to go under the wing here
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FPau1201/F1201008.jpg
06.55 am, close to ontime, "Regional Europe" should go now for the 40 minutes ride down to LYS.
A short cut for us, departure from the 3900 meters runway "One-Five".
Any idea about the majority of pax here on these leg?

Service Air France AF 5422 operated by Airlinair
Scheduled: 08.50 // 10.25

Leg two will see me and my travel companion, at least according to schedule and seatmap, on an ATR 72.
Well, perhaps, is she a middle eastern princess in urgent need for an escape from her daily shopping routine?.
And there is at least a castle at our destination, so that fit´s!.
But at first, after reaching the terminal self service style, a view to the AF lounge is well needed here.
Knocking the door french style, you know.
Quickly opened to see the limited offers
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FPau1201/F1201022.jpg
But the departure board is once more impressive
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FPau1201/F1201021.jpg
A quick connection here, down to the gate, 24D by now.
F-GVZM is parked there.
A new registration and leg no. 21 on type
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FPau1201/F1201025.jpg
Boarding started soon thereafter.
25.06.1999 is the service entry date for this plane with Air Tahiti and now in the air by Airlinair. One of six '72´s in the fleet.
Hah, under the wing
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FPau1201/F1201026.jpg
08.50 am, ontime, impossible to follow the flight duration announcement.
"Airlinair" is leaving LYS from the 4000 meters "Three-Six-Left", 14 degrees and light rain by now. Hopefully better down the southwestern part of the country.
Is this really true?. Oh, yes it is, a DC 8 here in LYS
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FPau1201/F1201027.jpg
Cabin crew is one male, one female FA, both young, ok, but nothing special.
Strictly no comment from the flightdeck or it´s simply impossible to follow, not to my amusement.
No route or flightlevel informations this way.
Cabin ceiling

The safety card
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FPau1201/F1201029.jpg
And the legroom shot from the dark blue clean, but heavy used leather seaters.
18F, the last row window and two seats for me here
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FPau1201/F1201030.jpg
Service is again a brioche and free drinks.
Some blue above

130 flights per day, not bad
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FPau1201/F1201032.jpg
Is there anyone beside us here?. The load is as low as 40% with a few biz people only
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FPau1201/F1201033.jpg
The cabin shows some aging sights

Well, time now to explore the city.
Idelis shuttles us by bus to the train station, the fare surprisingly good with 1.00 Euro.

These leg is booked by CityJet directly, the fare not that cheap but anyway acceptable with 90.00 Euro´s.
And also OLCI works well this time.
Of course, no print out, something to catch here prior to the next step.

Now that´s a significant difference in behaviour here.
He´s working hard to make it all up.

Touchdown at the 1508 meters "Two-Seven". 4.15 pm, 5.15 pm in Germany, impressive 25 minutes ahead to schedule.
Believe it or not. When you want to catch the sun and warm weather today, Germany?. What a joke, Switzerland?. Also not the perfect place to be this way, France?. Not at all, but England it is with sunny 24 degrees

Service Swiss LX 487 operated by Swiss European Airlines
Scheduled: 19.45 // 22.25

Well, the airline for the last leg decides to push back the departure schedule. That means well enough time for us to walk along the runway for the other side. That´s something what I really recommend to do here if there is time available.
Sitting in the warm afternoon sun, watching the planes go by. That´s the way of life and not only my way!.
Me and my travel companion, perhaps these english upper class lady, bored from all the long days on the golf range and ready for some adventures to fly around Europe now!.
Olympia anyone?
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FPau1201/F1201107.jpg
Strange view to say the least
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FPau1201/F1201108.jpg
A couple of CityJet´s around
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FPau1201/F1201110.jpg
If you like Avro´s that might be the place to go
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FPau1201/F1201111.jpg
Well, it´s Wednesday, late afternoon and this is LCY where all the biz guys and girls need to fly out homebound this time.
And that means a well used airport today.
Not that long to wait at security nevertheless, but the gate area, also when it was extented some time ago, is well used, to say the least. Close to no open seat to spot.
And also no lounge to visit here.
Some saving for the UK tax minister to do now and checking the duty free shop. Perfumes and cosmetics are definitely cheaper in the UK than at my homebase.
And not only cosmetics.
This leg is fixed by Lastminute.com, the UK website,
with a cheaper fare than on the german website, 95.00
Euro´s.

That´s our name for this plane and that will never change anymore.
Imagine to board a plane with warm and sunny weather condition and a broken APU, what means no climatization on the ground possible.
And imagine how the chief upfront told as, that will be immediatelly better up in the air, what was never ever happened.
Also inflight no fresh air from the vents.

Hols Markus!

What a cute report of yours, a great triangle with these small planes is not something we see everyday in this section.

Pau seems to be a very interesting city, very well preserved and with manicured greenery all around, that tends to happen with small towns, where there is not such a rush and take their time to preserve their local attractions, well done.

What to say about the flying experience? All carriers seem to provide an excellent level of service and a great way to spend a nice late spring Wednesday. Like the Regional jets on AF, something for me still to try.

Looking forward to your summer experiences!

Salut!

Roger

Hello Markus,

Another great report as usuaul!

Nice routing with some nice planes. And Pau seems nice. Although I have flown to PUF I never got around to seeing teh actual city.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
But the departure board is once more impressive

Indeed! Also good to see how a connection bank works: lots of flights to almost every single French domestic airport between 08.00 and 09.00 and after that it gets quiet for a while.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Well, 1 hour, 30 minutes in a Beech 1900, sure not the most welcoming experience for anyone out there

And bloody expensive too. I was looking at some Beech flights in France with Twinjet and it seems it sets you back at least 200 EUR.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Parachuting anyone?

Only 2? When I was there were a lot of parachuting folks. A great sight!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
That´s something what I really recommend to do here if there is time available.

I was considering that for my next visit to LCY. How long does the walk take?

Hi there Markus,

A pretty good story once again. If you happen to refer to your travel companion as ‘cutie’, for sure it must be someone nice and pretty, yet she remains a mystery person for us   Good to see you logging another new airport byt the name of PUF (love that name) and I’m glad to see Cityjet still living up to it’s excellent onboard quality levels. If all goes well: see you in some weeks?

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
The cell phone asked me, if this is really correct, 02.30 am wake up for the ride through the black forrest and some well timed arrival.

Ha ha, good to see you struggling once again with those midnight departures from home!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Who is she?.
Well, we will see!

I like the way you keep on being mysterious about your travel partner.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Also cute but much more longer in the background

Yes and defunct as well apparently. It’s the famous BSL A346 sitting idle with sealed doors and engines. A sad sight.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
The funiculaire

I love those!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Well, 1 hour, 30 minutes in a Beech 1900, sure not the most welcoming experience for anyone out there

Hi Markus,

Well, well, what a mysterious report. Still, it seems like you had a fulfilling day out to a rather nice looking French town. Maybe I should pay it a visit myself one day?

The itinerary looks like this,
painting a sharp triangle on western Europe:

That is actually very cool. Somethimes you don’t notice these things when you’re planning!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Also AF´s OLCI system don´t want to accept me today.

Only 4 in the fleet, an interesting fact. Good to log them whilst you can.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):

Incredible the number of departing flights in just 30 minutes.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
A new registration and leg no. 21 on type

Leg 21, that’s pretty impressive.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Any idea where to go next?

I wonder what that exotic flight to Glasgow was?

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
The well maintained garden

Markus, have you seen what combination of letters can be found on that photo?

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Well, it seems La Princesse enjoyed her time in Pau and me, too!.

So it seems!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Maybe my travel companion knows the right factor?

Perhaps one day it will be revealed on this forum?

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Believe it or not. When you want to catch the sun and warm weather today, Germany?. What a joke, Switzerland?. Also not the perfect place to be this way, France?. Not at all, but England it is with sunny 24 degrees

Good old global warming, you never know what to expect.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):

That certainly sounds like a nice way to enjoy some rays of afternoon sunshine.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Well, what about my travel companion?. Is she perhaps these italian singer, in need for a break from her usual routine on stage?.

Italian singer? Stage? Perhaps she prefers Christmas carols.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Well, perhaps, is she a middle eastern princess in urgent need for an escape from her daily shopping routine?.

Daily shopping routine? Well, could be, especially when shopping across the border in Deutschland.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
my travel companion, perhaps she´s an incognito travelling very well known, at least in India, Bollywood movie actress on the quick sidetrip to Europe for a couple of days adventurous flying around!.

Bollywood? Maybe not, more like an extra in movies filmed at airports!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):

A nice day out flying Markus, making a good report to read!
Interesting mix of aircraft/airlines, good for your FB account too. Cityjet really stands out. I love this airline.

Leg no. 5 till now on the Embraer 135 and this is a new entry to the books.

One so far for me, same airline though.

Welcome to EI-RJY, leg no. 10 on the RJ85 like on schedule and yes, this is a new entry to the log.

Also in my books. Comfortable enough machines for these shorter flights.

Nice pics from Pau Markus. Quiet city, not many people to clear pix!

Eric

Hello FLIEGER67

Well as soon as I saw the title with the word "cuties" I could not wait to read the report... The Embraer 135 certainly is one! Who was the other one?
