Czesc, dear readers once again,

the last story

AB Cancelled But Eurolot For Wroclaw Works (by FLIEGER67 Aug 5 2012 in Trip Reports)

saw me in Wroclaw.
Checked-in at the Platinum Palace and ready for a view into town.
A couple of mails and messages with my guides,
Wiola and Kris are exchanged and so we decided that they pick me up at the hotel. What was fortunately not that far from where they live.
What a nice welcome in a new city.

There is also some flying to do around this story later on.
Here is the routemap.
It might be easy to fly the straight path, ok there is no such connection!.
But no, we simulate a trip up the north till for a sudden change in direction south!:

Thanx to:

http://www.gcmap.com/

A couple of more routes on the latest map:

Tripreporters Flüge II auf einer größeren Karte anzeigen

The earlier 200 departure airports:

Departure airports auf einer größeren Karte anzeigen

And the latest additions with WRO as no. 218:

Departure Airports II auf einer größeren Karte anzeigen

No time to lose here, so let´s go for the city, by tram.
The daily ticket is good for 24 hours, that means also the next day in direction airport and costs only some 2.00 Euro´s.
Leaving the tram close to cathedral island,
with a view to the old town

I´am sure to not find this place for myself alone, definitely.
More time for a nice chat about life in Poland and especially Wroclaw these days along dinner.
Well, the night is cutting short, but that´s the way on travel´s, isn´t it?.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/D1201/PL1201/PL1201165.jpg
I should and hopefully see something different.
Why?. Flights to STR are usually operated on smaller equipment like the CR9 or the CR2.
But this leg shows the MD on schedule.
No way, no MD.
Rear-mounted engines, ok, but this is definitely one more CR9

I had?.
Ah, ok!.
These cute young woman at the Wroclaw check-in desk
decided to do me a favour and blocked the aisle seat.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/D1201/PL1201/PL1201176.jpg
At the homebase?.
Is it really worth it to drive the couple of kilometers?.
Why?.
I should be here again, pretty early tomorrow morning to catch the very same flight that was cancelled yesterday!.

Great thanx to Wiola and Kris, the perfect company for an enjoyable and interesting stay in a recommendable city like Wroclaw.

And do not forget the conclusions:
SK WRO-CPH: Ah, such a calm flight, perfect.
SK CPH-STR: As calm and comfy like it should be.

Extented travels ahead, so that will be a little longer till the next story.
Na razie, comments welcome,

Nice report as usual, and glad to see that you chose SAS to take you home safely from WRO.

That photo reminds me a lot of any Swedish town. That might make some sense though since Sweden and Poland has a lot of history with each other, not so sure about Wroclaw in particular though.

Hi Markus,

Some nice pictures from Breslau there - these remind me of my trip there back in 2006. That one was a bit of a lost cause though as I was suffering from a nasty cold and fever and spent most of my time there tucked under the sheets in the Radisson SAS (at it was still known back then). I guess I should really go back to see it again under a little better conditions.

The new terminal looks excellent and just like most of these new terminals everywhere in Poland - the old one was frankly a horrible dump and tiny as well!

Your flights home looked a bit boring really, just a pair of SAS CR9:s and nothing fancier. Coming back from WRO I actually flew EuroLOT to FRA (that was a loooong flight, took over 2 hours) and then a CityLine CRJ to CGN which was an interesting very short hop.

PS. Looks like you missed the Raclawice Panorama which was quite interesting actually, one of the few places I managed to visit there. It is right next to the Radisson hotel so it wasn't like I had to make a really big effort for my diminished strength to do it, though  .

Hi Markus !

Nice report with nice pictures !

Good to see your continuation of your trip to Wroclaw!

The city looks very nice and the chandelier is very impressive as well. Very nice to have some company to show you around as well.

SK looks okay as always but too bad you got to fly on aircraft you've flown on before......

Looking forward to your next report!

Quoting FlyingFinn76 (Reply 5):

Some nice pictures from Breslau there - these remind me of my trip there back in 2006. That one was a bit of a lost cause though as I was suffering from a nasty cold and fever and spent most of my time there tucked under the sheets in the Radisson SAS (at it was still known back then). I guess I should really go back to see it again under a little better conditions.

Ah, what a story. Sure a good idea to go back somedays.

Quoting FlyingFinn76 (Reply 5):

The new terminal looks excellent and just like most of these new terminals everywhere in Poland - the old one was frankly a horrible dump and tiny as well!

I´am impressed with these place, really good.

Quoting FlyingFinn76 (Reply 5):

Your flights home looked a bit boring really, just a pair of SAS CR9:s and nothing fancier. Coming back from WRO I actually flew EuroLOT to FRA (that was a loooong flight, took over 2 hours) and then a CityLine CRJ to CGN which was an interesting very short hop.

Ah, good to know. Exactly that Euro ATR FRA-WRO was on schedule and finally cancelled last year.

Quoting FlyingFinn76 (Reply 5):

PS. Looks like you missed the Raclawice Panorama which was quite interesting actually, one of the few places I managed to visit there. It is right next to the Radisson hotel so it wasn't like I had to make a really big effort for my diminished strength to do it, though

Don´t know about this one.

Nice report with nice pictures !

Good to see your continuation of your trip to Wroclaw!

Thank you.

Quoting The777Man (Reply 6):

The city looks very nice and the chandelier is very impressive as well. Very nice to have some company to show you around as well.

Always good to go with local company and that was also here the way.

Quoting The777Man (Reply 6):

SK looks okay as always but too bad you got to fly on aircraft you've flown on before......

Sure good flights, but no new planes. Exactly my opinion.

Quoting roberts87 (Reply 7):

Nice report there Markus!
The city of Wroclaw looks nice, and so does the new airport. And SK was okay as usual!

Thank you and sure worth a visit somedays.

Greetings,

Hi Markus,

Nice shortish report! Wroclaw looks pretty nince and good to see you were guided around in excellent company.
WRO looks absolutely nice and modern, does it get a LOT of traffic?

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Well, this looks like fairly new in the distance

Nice and modern architecture.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
The plane was out of service for close to a month after an non scheduled air to air meeting with a flock of goose on the way from CPH to Aarhus in 2009. It was once again trapped in Vilnius after an rejected high speed takeoff due to disagreeing airspeed indications

I always wonder where you get this info from?

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
who delivered me not that long ago from STR to CPH.

And now the other way around, just perfect

Hi Markus,

Nice report. Great pictures of Wroclaw! The airport terminal indeed looking quite modern. I guess the old one wasn't up to the task with the Euro.

Aviation wise, SAS does its job well... Too bad about two CR9s in a row... Oh well, maybe there'll be more chances for the MD-80

Thanks very much, it was an enjoyable read.

Hi Markus

Another great report, seems like you enjoyed the CR9. They do luck much more comortable than the 320/737 series.
Nice to see that WRO is a great city as well.

Hi Markus,

another interesting report, Wroclaw is a nice city, reminds me a bit of Cheb. Too bad you got the CRJ twice.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Mood lighting on the CR9?

That would be a suprise.

Quoting MSS658 (Reply 13):

But they aren't. I'd prefer a 737 or A32X over any kind of CRJ any day.

Hi Markus,

first of all sorry for replying so late. Still another very interesting report. Really liked the pictures of Breslau, especially in the light of my upcoming visit there later this year. Looks like a nice city. Also the airport there looks interesting, quite a new and modern facility.

And finally you had two comfortable flights with SK, too bad you missed a flight on the MD, would have been cool to fly into STR on a Mad Dog instead of the usual CRJ on that route.

Greetings
CaptainRed

It seems the chances for the MD´s are going lower and lower.
