I'm just gonna start off by saying that this is my first trip report so I want feedback to help make them better over time!

Anyway, I spent the summer in Myrtle Beach with family to help out at the family business. My father hadn't been on a plane since his flight from BDL-PVD in 1972 ended up in a field off the end of the runway after a bomb threat was called in. He decided that it was time to try again, as Amtrak gets less and less convenient from SC to NY every time. So, what better way than a brand new Q400 before they are all gone!

We went into work for a little while in the morning before we shoved of for MYR at about 0945. We were parked and on our way to security by 1015! My father was already nervous and trying to find any way to get out of it but I wouldn't let him.

I didn't get any pics of the inside of the terminal but I can provide a description.

The inside of the terminal was pretty crowded. DL to ATL, NK to DFW, US to CLT, and our UA to EWR were all leaving around the same time, so most of the seating areas were full.

We found some empty seats near a window and waited.

I have literally never been to MYr at a period this busy. We saw five planes in a course of 25 minutes! (Trust me, that's a lot!)

Our plane, N346NG, landing from EWR.

Arriving from CVG

N530NK arriving from DFW

Much to my dismay, she pulled up and had the jetway attached. (I've always wanted to board a plane via airstairs)

For some reason, the vision flight waited about 10 minutes after landing to go to gate 6, which is a US Airways gate. I can only imagine that they had to wait for the jetway to be raised up to 737-height.

They called boarding for zones 1-3, and about 5 people went up. We were in zone 5, so we didn't have to wait long, sicne almost nobody was boarding as they called.

Flight Info:

Flight: UA4926 MYR-EWR
Aircraft: Q400
Registration: N346NG (1.6 years old)
Seat(s): 19A/B
Sched. Pushback time: 11:29am
Actual Pushback time: 11:22am
Sched. wheels-up time: 11:39am
Actual wheels-up time: 11:34am

US flight to CLT pushing back from gate 5

We pushed back a few minutes early and were on our way in no time, following N938LR to the runway.

Don't have any pics from takeoff, as the flight attendants didn't like that I had my camera going still.

The takeoff was surprisingly powerful, and we probably took about 5,000 feet of the runway.

When we started climbing, we passed through the low clouds and the turbulence that the pilot had predicted we would hit never came in full force.

We were up at FL250 in aobt 12 minutes.

It was pretty cloudy up there and there was decent turbulence for about 20 minutes, until we got into Virginia and the clouds cleared up.

Passing over PHL:

Cabin shot

Unknown airport in what I wanna say was Delaware. It looks like there was an AN124 on the ground! Anybody got any info?

Mandatory legroom shot. Pretty decent, but I couldn't see myself ding it for more than 2.5 hours.

Descending into EWR. Strange that there was no announcment about the descent until the captain asked the flight attendants to prepare the cabin for arrival. however the captain did come on as we overflew PHL and told us that there was about 20 minutes left. But thats it. Weird.

The captain said there was gusty winds in Newark and believe me. There were.

Giants stadium

We had a bumpy landing on runway 22L and used about 2/3 of the runway. We landed about 25 minutes early.

Jet Airways getting loaded up.

Overview, including 9W, OpenSkies, and UA.

LY and 2 SK planes (including a star alliance)

One of the most beautiful planes in the UA fleet

We arrived at gate 105 at terminal C and waited about 10 minutes to actually get off the plane, due to the fact that we were so far in the back of the plane.

When we got off the plane and info the terminal, I stopped to take some pictures:

Not too many, but still some.

We waited for my mom outside for about 15 minutes while we tried to figure out where she was. Turns out she was looking for us on level one and we were on level 2. We ended up being in the car on the way home for longer than we were flying! Thanks to the belt parkway and southern state.

Crew:     They were not unhappy, but not so happy, either. Pretty neutral. Except at the end, I was having trouble with my bag, and the flight attendant made kind of a snotty comment about what I was doing. Neither of them smiled at all the whole time.
Aircraft:         It was new, so it was nice, but it was a bit dirty inside and a little crowded.
Personnel Efficiency:     When nobody boarded when their zones were called, the gate agent kept going. After about 15 people were on the plane, the rest of the passengers swarmed onto the aircraft. The flight turned out to be full.
OnTime Performance:           Departed and landed early.

Once again, this is my first TR, so I welcome feedback to help me on my future reports.

Sorry about the pictures not working. Does anybody know how to properly upload the pictures for trip reports? I guess my method didn't work.
