Hello everyone!

It's been almost 2 months since I posted a video trip report!
As most of you know, I fly EK F often, and I try to make a video every time, but this doesn't always work out due to time constraints. The last EK video I posted was back in January. I've flown EK so much in between then and now, but have been too busy to edit and post a video of them. I was planning on doing some, but I lost my memory card from my camera, so I lost a lot of footage.

Today's trip report is regarding my flights back to New York from Hyderabad, last week. I only have footage for the return, as I has the footage from my outbound all edited, ready to post, but I was using my sisters computer, on the guest account, and she logged out which deleted all files. I'm pretty OCD, so I deleted the footage from my camera after editing to maximize space. Looks like that was a mistake! I'll try to post more videos from now on, but I definitely don't have enough time for every time I fly.

Wednesday, September 26th.

I arrived into HYD from New York just 2 days prior on the 24th, so I didn't really get used to the time difference. It's easier when I get home at least!
I received a call from my Emirates Chauffeur at 11pm on the 25th, confirming my pick up at 1:20am from my Hyderabad house to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, for EK525 to Dubai. I confirmed it, and went to sleep for an hour, waking up at midnight. I used the hour I had to shower, and freshen up. At around 1:15am, I went downstairs, and saw that the car had arrived. The usual Mercedes C3(50)?. My family and I pretty much know all the HYD drivers, and today's was one of the usuals. He came to take my one carry on, and we were soon on our way to HYD.
At 2am, I arrived at the busy departures area at HYD. It's crazy how many people there are at this time. There is probably more family's saying bye than actual travelers. I got out of the car, got my carry on, bid farewell to my driver, and headed into the terminal.

By the time I got through the masses of people, and through the passport and ticket check before entering the check in area, it was 2:10am. I made my way over to the Emirates check in desks, and was surprised to see the economy desks, a desk for skywards gold and silver, and a first class desk. No business class desk! It didn't matter to me, as I was in F, but this was surprising as there is always a J desk. And about 5 hours ago, I was still the only passenger booked in First Class! I walked over to the counter, and asked the agent, and he said that there were only 9 booked passengers in J, and that they were all upgraded to F, so they decided not to have a J counter that night. Golds and silvers in Y were upgraded to J, as it flew out full.
He quickly checked me in, and I got my boarding passes. 2K to DXB and 2A to JFK. After a quick hello to the HYD station manager, I went to fill out the lengthy India departure card, then made my way to immigration and security.

I got to the lounge at 2:25am. At HYD, EK uses the plaza premium lounge. It's nothing special, but its fine. I had a quick bite to eat, and spent the rest of my time making calls, and reading some TR's.

At 3:45am, I decided to head to the gate. EK usually starts Y boarding first, then boards premium cabins in the middle of Y boarding. When I got there, along with a fellow F pax, they asked us to wait, addressing us each by name (they did look at our BP's. they're not THAT good haha   ). We stood around until 3:55am, when the station manager came up to me and said it was fine to board now, like usual  .

First Class Load- 10/12

I was the first premium passenger to board EK 525 to Dubai. I was welcomed back by the FA, and went to my seat 2K.
Boarding was pretty quick, and in the mean time I was offered Arabic coffee, a welcome drink, hot towel, and dates. The main cabin door was closed at 4:15am, and we soon started to push back.
Now, since I fly EK so often, I've memorized the safety videos, and ICE welcome videos, in both English and Arabic. And I don't speak Arabic! I always whisper the words to my self as it plays, but I guess i was too loud this time, as I got some strange looks from my seat mate!

As soon as we were airborne, I quickly turned my seat into the lie flat position. I skipped breakfast, and decided to sleep for the whole flight. It was pretty much uneventful.

I woke up as we started our decent into the Dubai area.

I made these two videos. The first is a short video of the F cabin on the 772. The next is our landing at DXB.:

Dubai Transit

We parked at a remote stand, and were bussed to terminal. Once all F pax boarded the bus, some J pax boarded. And we were on our way. It took about 15-20 minutes to get to the terminal. We arrived at transit security at about 6:45am, and I quickly made it through thanks to the F/J line. I was then on my way to the F lounge.

My BP was quickly scanned, and the agent told me boarding was at 8am. I went over to the dining area to have breakfast. I ordered some pancakes which were delicious. After breakfast, I had a seat in one of the many empty areas, and relaxed until 7:45am. This is probably the buisiest time of day at the F lounge, but it still felt pretty empty.

I went over to the gate a little early to see the reg of my whale to JFK. I don't have the best eyesight, so I saw either A6-EDD or A6-EDO. I later found that it was EDD. I was hoping it was EDO, bc I've never flown it before, but alas it was a familiar EDD.

Boarding began at 7:55, and they scanned my BP, and directed me into the area near the elevators. I was asked to wait until more passengers arrived, at which point we can go down to boarding level 2, which leads straight to the upper deck. Sometimes they let us go straight down, and sometimes they make us wait for more pax. Anyway, 5 minutes later, we were directed to take the elevator down to board EK 201 to New York.

I was welcomed back onboard by an FA, who directed her colleague to show me to my suite 2A. I usually prefer 2K on the A380, but someone already reserved it by the time I booked. She asked me if I have been on the A380 in F before, to which I replied yes. She wished me a pleasant flight, and walked back to the door to greet more pax. Another FA came by to offer me something to drink. Soon, another came by to offer me pajamas, the amenity kit, the kit bag, slippers, eye shades, etc. later, I was offered Arabic coffee, and dates.
By this time, the jet bridges were retracted, and we were ready to push. During this time, the safety and ICE videos were played, to which I whispered along to. I just can't help it haha!
We departed a sunny Dubai, and made a right turn to head toward New York. Once the seat belt sign was turned off, and I decided to go and change into my pajamas. Once I got back, a menu was at my seat, and soon an FA came by to book my slot for the shower. I chose 1.5 hours before landing, and perused the menu.

After my meal, I went to sleep. I woke up 5 hours out of JFK. I usually don't visit the bar, as I got bored of it. I prefer relaxing in my suite.
I was sort of hungry, so I ordered a baked potato with chili con carne. It was delicious, and the chili was a lot spicier than I expected, which was great since I love spicy food! During my meal, I watched man on a ledge. I also connected to the wifi, which is faster on some AC than others. It was fast today, which was nice.
After man on a ledge, I watched an Australian movie called, Any Questions for Ben. It was really interesting and funny. It also featured a lot of Emirates, such as EK FA's at the Australian open, Emirates sponsored events that the characters attended, and the main character Ben flys EK! You can see the check in agent, and the EK check in desks at an Australian airport. they also show his EK boarding pass. Sorry, I forgot which city the movie took place in. I leaning towards Sydney, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, by the time the movie ended, it was time for my shower. I spent about 40 minutes in the shower spa, and was back in my suite about 45 minutes before landing at JFK. I quickly packed up my iPad, headphones, etc, and sat back and watched the tail cam on the screen, and the nose cam on the remote.
We touched down at JFK at 2:20pm, and taxied over to gate A6. It was great to be able to use the LTE on my new iPhone 5, which I got the day before I left New York. I live in an area where AT&T doesn't have LTE coverage yet , so it's either at the airport or in the city that I can use LTE right now.
We docked at the gate, and I was the first one to be at the door to deboard. Once they opened the door, I thanked the crew, and stepped off the AC. I made my way down the jerbridge to Immigration. At the end of the jetway were 2 C&BP agents checking to see if you filled out your forms.

Here is the video from this flight- http://youtu.be/6PEM40KgWwE

I was the first one from my flight to arrive at immigration, and I saw that the US citizen line was pretty long. This is when global entry comes in handy. I was through within a minute. I had no checked luggage, so I went straight to customs. Usually, I get asked why I was in India for such a short time, but nothing today. I wished the agent a good day, and walked out and towards the Emirates chauffeur drive sign, where there is a man who you tell your name, and he calls your driver with a Walkie talkie, to tell him you're coming out. He quickly called my driver and notified him that I was on my way out.
I walked out to where all the EK cars are, and saw my driver holding a sign with my last name on it. He took my carry on, and put it in the trunk while I got into the car.
In New York, emirates uses BostonCoach for their chauffeur drives. Sometimes I get lucky, and either get an actual limo, or at least a Mercedes S550, but today it was just a regular old Lincoln town car. I got the limo on the outbound when leaving JFK the week before.
The driver commented on how early I was, and that it usually takes EK pax a while, to which I replied that the longest it's taken me, even with checked luggage at JFK was 15-20 minutes after docking at the gate , and that was before I had global entry.
My record is in HYD- I touched down on EK 528 at 8:32pm. I made it through immigration, picked up my checked bag, through customs, and in my chauffeur drive car in 9 minutes. This means I was in the car by 8:41pm. I myself don't even know how it was possible, but it was. I still can't understand how they got the luggage to the baggage claim so fast. Realize that we TOUCHED DOWN at 8:32, so it must've been like 8:35 by the time we were at the gate. And I'm pretty sure I didn't run .
Anyway, there was no traffic, so I was home by 3:10pm. I thanked the driver and got my carry on.

In conclusion, it was another great trip on emirates. I will try to post videos and make a TR as much as possible, but its all based on how busy i am. I'll try my best!

Thanks for reading, and be sure to thumbs up and subscribe to me on YouTube. Also, check out my other First Class videos!

Happy Flying,

Very nice report - thanks for posting! EK regularly sells out the 4 am departures out of India I guess - I hear a lot of the folks with FFP status get upgraded on the India-DXB sectors (like your flight had 9-10 J-->F upgrades, and probably 20 Y-->J upgrades.

Was this a revenue ticket or was it a redemption of some sort? If revenue, what were your other options for JFK-HYD and what made you choose EK over the options (other than the FFP loyalty which is a given)?

Quoting Nimish (Reply 1):

It is revenue. I only use miles for upgrades J-F sometimes. Recently, I've been buying revenue F more.

I started flying EK in 2004 when they first started service to New York, and have loved them ever since, so I stayed with them. I could fly QR, or EY, but I prefer EK and will always fly them.

I achieved skywards gold with 2 round trips in J. It honestly does nothing for me, as I'm always in J/F. It still is nice to here, "welcome back Mr. XXXXX." As I board the aircraft.

I hope I answered your questions!
