Hello all,
I recently had a trip from South Korea to Amsterdam for a school program. The trip was about a week long, and consisted of four flight segments as follows (flickr pictures on the link). Enjoy!
09/09/12
KE 855
ICN - PEK
dep: 11:05am
arr: 12:10pm
Boeing 777-300
The aircraft was in good condition. The window from my seat had some mark on it, but other than that the plane was clean and kept in pristine state. The plane departed on time for Beijing; I didn't expect hot meals or anything on the plane but it was a pleasant surprise to have been served one on this short flight. They had only one choice: chicken, which was excellent. The plane landed on time at 12:08pm in Beijing.
09/09/12
CZ 345
PEK - AMS
dep: 2:20PM
arr: 7:10PM
Airbus 330-200
Almost missed this flight because I got lost in Beijing Airport terminal 2. I did not know transfers had to go through the immigration desk. Plus, I did not have my onward ticket to Amsterdam and the security person finally allowed me to show him my laptop, which contained my itinerary. The flight was excellent. All of the flight attendants were nice and caring. 2 hours into the flight, I found out my AVOD system was not working so the flight attendant had to switch me to a different seat. The meals were better than I expected, and the galley was always full of drinks and snacks. For my first experience with China Southern, this was a good one.
09/17/12
KL 897
AMS - PEK
dep: 5:35pm
arr: 8:55am
Boeing 747-400
It was interesting to see that there's security checkpoint in every gate in Amsterdam. I had a window seat at the right side of the plane and the flight attendant that had my area was very nice to everyone. The meals were excellent; I chose the Chinese meal for dinner and the egg omelette for breakfast. Other than the meal times, I was very sleepy so I dozed off for most of the flight. The plane landed earlier than scheduled (about 40 min earlier) at PEK.
09/18/12
KE 2852
PEK-GMP
dep: 11:50am
arr: 3:10pm
Boeing 747-400
The flight to Gimpo-Seoul airport was Boeing 747-400. All of the seats had AVOD system on it, and hot meals were provided for the flight. As a frequent Korean Air flier, I can only say the service in KE is one of the most excellent among the top carriers. The plane left Beijing and landed in Gimpo on time. The immigration into Gimpo airport was really fast, as it's a smaller airport than Incheon airport.

Hello chanyxp,
Northwestern?
I liked the pics, thanks for sharing man!
The PEK terminal looks quite airy and nice. It is not the brand new terminal that everyone raves about, is it? How did you find CZ' service btw? It does not seem bad at all on your pics, even though many people are still somewhat biased against carriers from the P.R.C. The catering seems quite decent, and it appears -at least to me- that seat pitch was more than average on the A332.
Was your KL 744 a Combi or a full-pax version? Don't even know how many, if any, full-pax 744 KL still has.

Hello,
Yes! Northwestern. And I know I should've added more descriptions, I am sorry about that. Next time, I will do my best to add more to the trip reports.
For PEK terminal, the terminal was 2 where all of skyteam airlines use. The new terminal that everyone raves about is terminal 3. It's a huge terminal. CZ's service was great I thought. The flight attendants were very attentive. Though they assumed that I was Chinese and spoke to me in Chinese even though I have repeatedly said to them I wasn't. Catering was decent.. better than I expected from a Chinese carrier! The seat, they said, was premium economy class, the seat pitch (don't know exact number) was comfortable enough.
KL 744 was a combi. I think all KLM asia 744 are combi? (correct me if I'm wrong)
