It’s the time of the year again where everything shuts down in Indonesia for 2 weeks for the Muslim New Year, and that’s my cue to go on my annual vacation too! This time I decided to head to Melbourne for a few days before heading back home to Perth.
Preflight
Arrived at the airport with about 1hr 45mins to spare. Formalities were completed quickly and after getting cigarettes its just the Garuda Executive lounge for us. Nothing much to report here as its night departure, hence no good photo opportunities for this bird, but however I have taken one from a file photo on A.Net.

Being the holiday season the entire flight was full in all classes. But crew was still cheerful and enthusiastic. Actually I have never had an unhappy crew with GA and especially those bound for Australia. I guess down under is one of the destinations the crew get a decent layover. I would soon nod off to bed once the plane took off, but before that I managed to take a few shots, and I will just let the pictures do the talking on this refurbished A333. Point to note is that on the A333, the J seats are angled and not full flat, whereas on the A332, they are all full flat.
Midnight snack before heading off to sleep
Breakfast was served about 1.5hrs before ETA.

After a great couple of days in Melbourne, we are now returning home to Perth.
Being domestic, I arrived at the airport with 50mins to spare. After check in I managed to get a quick meal at McDonalds and after that it was straight for boarding.

Great to be onboard DJ premier A332 J class again to Perth, crew were enthusiastic as usual when greeting us onboard. DJ is really a great airline and really ahead of QF in terms of cabin crew service and hard products.

A really great inflight meal, considering the fact it’s a domestic flight

A brand new B738 with Boeing's Sky Interior is going to be my bird today. Flight is almost 100% full with about 5 empty seats in Y and 1 in J. Service was efficient and polite like what you have come to expect with GA.

Great Report!
The offering from both airlines looks really good, I really like the J seat design on the DJ A330s. Australia is on my list of places to visit in the future, hope I get there some day! Thanks for sharing your report.

Thanks for another great report!
Enjoyed reading your TRs.
Seems GA long-haul J class product looks good as usual.
DJ product looks impressive for a domestic flight. Having flown PER-MEL recently on a QF flight, seems that DJ will give QF a tough competition on this route.
I should plan to fly on DJ someday.

Quoting Carfield (Reply 1): I can't wait to fly Garuda once it has joined Skyteam!
Virgin Australia updated A330 is wonderful and I love the new seats and it is cool that it has gone back to a six abreast seating.
Hi Carfield, you don't have to wait for them to join Skyteam 0 You should just start trying them out now hehehehe.
DJ really has good config's on their domestic J, with the current hardware and config, they can also automatically use these A332's to international destinations too as they are already ahead of QF in hardware and service levels anyway IMHO

You are welcome and hope you get to get on DJ's A330 soon
Quoting MSS658 (Reply 3): Hard and software look great!
What you see is definitely what you get

IMHO, they are well ahead of QF on this aspect.
Quoting julio777 (Reply 5): I am looking forward for my trip to Perth as well on dec for short vacation, will fly Garuda as well. hope to get their B737 800 with sky interior.
Pretty diffcult to get the sky interior on any of the the B738's as only a handful of them has got the sky interior. Probably the last 16 times I have been on GA's B738 this calender year, only got the Sky Interior 3x
Quoting ba319-131 (Reply 6): hopefully I'll get to take one of their 332's on the CGK-HKG run.
As long as you take the AM daprture from CGK and PM departure from HKG, it will be the A332, the red eye out of CGK and early morning return from HKG is on the B738
Quoting adamspotter (Reply 7): Another great trip report, thanks for sharing!
