this is my 1st ever report. apologies for the last upload and the photos not working. fingers crossed on this one
Unfortunately as it was our honeymoon I was too excited to think about reporting our outward journey so this is the return leg from maputo - joberg- London on South African Airways.
We travelled from ponta Mamoli in the very south of Mozambique to Maputo by private helicopter and we had a few hours to kill in Maputo airport. We were told it was built by theChinese and there are 2 brand new terminal buildings; one domestic and one international. It is not the biggest airport but looked very modern an clean.
After clearing immigration we headed for the lounge and it was a small room with a mini bar but was very comfortable and had everything we needed. There were only 4 international departures that afternoon so not the busiest place.
I took a picture of the smoking room which had a a shop and bottles of liquor stacked up for sale.
When the SAA A319 arrived the whole building came to life and we boarded on what was a full flight. Africa is always interesting and this flight was no different as the Presidents wife and her anterauge boarded shortly after us and took over most of business class. Her bodyguards apparently wanted our seats but the stewardesses said no which was fine by me.
As we took off you could see old planes around the airfield looking sorry for themselves which I imagine is common around African airports.
The flight was only 50 minutes but we managed to get a cold meal and beverages which were appreciated. The seat was comfortable though the flight was finished so quickly. On descent we hit thunderstorms and landed into a busy Jo'berg airport with flights going everywhere.
The business lounge was very large and well stocked though the air on had broken so it was too hot and uncomfortable. Personally there were too many people in there but the airport is a big hub so I did not expect any different.
After a 4 hour wait our flight was ready and the business class setup was very nice. I am not a business traveller so cant compare it but the 2 seat pods were very comfortable and the stewardesses were very welcoming.
The flight was good except for the turbulence around the equator but the flat beds, duvets and bed sheets helped greatly. There was an error and there were no white spirits onboard. The A330 looks new and after reading about the fleet I think these seats will be the best. The entertainment is very good with more movies than you can watch and the food is 1st class.
Nothing was too much trouble and SAA were very good. We landed early into Heathrow and immediately hit the queues from all the flights arriving at once.
It seemed a world apart from Mozambique and Maputo which we had left only 18 hours before.

Welcome to the world of TR.
As a first report is was not bad at all, a good camera always helps and your pics are quite sharp and nicely framed.

Our kind of guy, Honeymoon over, time for a trip report.
I know you said that you were not a Business Traveller but a little tip for the next time, put the Menus in your hand luggage and then you can scan them in when you get home. The shots of the food looked good, did they taste as nice?
The seats on JNB-LHR trip had good space and as you say the staff were very helpful, that always helps.
Glad you had a great time and enjoy married life.
Thanks for sharing.
you don't get a second chance to make a first impression!

Flight vice is quite simple from CCS - the TP flights has a super connection on both directions in LIS.
I am booked in 2,5 weeks on LHR-JNB-CPT on SA business class A346/738 combo - I am really looking forward to this trip.
