As usual, my "luck" with AA continues - another 1+ hour delay while sitting on-board at the gate while maintenance fixed something that was wrong with the plane.
The plane this time (sorry, didn't get the reg) was one of the "new interior" domestic 757-223s. I thought they did a very good job freshening up the old bird and yes, the new F seats aren't as comfy as the old 1990s-style F seats they used to have, but they were still quite comfortable. Unfortunately, this was not one of the 757s that has had WiFi installed.
Oh, here's the "stats" on the flight:
AA #2041
Boeing 757-223
JFK-MIA
Seat 6-F
Scheduled Departure: 12:40pm
Actual Departure: 1:40pm
Scheduled Arrival: 3:55pm
Actual Arrival: 4:54pm
The gate agent in charge of working this flight was wearing a hat with a big Christmas tree on it - glad to see AA employees having some fun!
Taxi time was very quick - unusually fast for an AA taxi to the runway! It was a very cloudy day in NYC and we took off on 4L, quickly climbing into the clouds before making the big right turn to the southwest.
We had 2 flight attendants serving us in the first class cabin - both were professional, friendly and attentive. Each got one of my "AAplause" (or is it ApplAAuse) stickers. It's a way of letting any AA employee know you appreciate their service and I think they get to trade it in with the company for gifts or money or something like that. Anyway, they were both very gracious and thanked me when I gave the stickers to them.
The food - once again - delicious. The 2 entree choices were a salad with cold steak strips, and the hot entree was a variation on my favorite - chicken pot pie - although this time it was "chicken pot pie crepe" which I have never had before but it was delicious and for desert a freshly baked on board oatmeal cranberry cookie.
The meal:
The desert:
When we finally landed at MIA (came in right over my house in Miami Beach for a landing to the west, which is always a nice change of pace from the boring approach over the Everglades, our gate was unavailable so we sat in the penalty box for about 10 minutes before they assigned us a different gate.
All in all, another great flight with AA, thanks to the quality of the food and the flight attendants. Now if they could only figure out a way to actually depart on time....

I should also have added... the ticket only cost around $300. A lot of people think flying in F costs a lot more, but for some reason, AA is charging "peanuts" for F on some routes these days.
