Hello and welcome to the third part of my trip report to Europe and Russia in October 2012. This part will cover the flight from Stockholm to Copenhagen and from Copenhagen to Munich, with SAS and Lufthansa CityLine. I hope you enjoy.
Details of the forth leg on the trip:
Date: 16 October 2012
Airline: SAS
Flight: SK419
Route: ARN - CPH
Aircraft: MD-82
Registration: OY-KHM
Class: Economy
We were leaving for the morning flight to Copenhagen from our hotel. The hotel we stayed (Nordic Sea) was conveniently located next to the train station, where we take the Arlanda Express direct to the airport.
View from our hotel room
20-minute journey on the train and we arrived at the airport
Headed straight to SAS check-in area
The area was pretty empty at the time, we went to a *G counter, and was check-in after a few minutes
Then we made our way to SAS lounge passing security check
Flight display information
SAS Lounge
The lounge was very busy with a lot of business travellers. The breakfast offering was ok
We made our way to the boarding gate.
Boarding the aircraft
Seat configuration was 3-2
Me and my brother got to our seats, we were lucky to have two a seat between us empty. I reckoned the flight load was about 50%
Lifted off
Very good leg room on the emergency exit row
Menu
On SAS European shorthaul flights, complement tea and coffee are served but snack etc are available for purchase. On this flight, I went for a muffin (which I can’t remember how much exactly I paid for) and a cup of coffee.
Cabin shots
Safety card
Descending to CPH
Cabin crew came to prepare the cabin for landing: checking if everyone seat-belts were fasten. Three FAs walked passed my row at least 5 times and none failed to spot the empty coffee cup.
Touched down!
Our seats
Disembarking was on both the doors in the front and rear. I had to choose to exit on the rear door
Nice to see my home airline’s plane
Once inside the terminal, we made our way to the baggage claims
The screen said that they bags would arrive in 16 minutes, but actually after 3-4 minutes, the first bags came on the belt
Arrival hall
We made our way to the information desk, where we order the free transfer to our hotel: Crowne Plaza Copenhagen Towers.
The bus then arrived about 10 minutes later
Checked in to our room: family room. This is effectively two rooms with a connecting door.

For the next flight of the trip, we would be taking another SAS flight from Copenhagen to Munich:
Date: 17 October 2012
Airline: SAS
Flight: SK659
Route: CPH - MUC
Aircraft: CRJ 900
Registration: OY-KFA
Class: Economy
To get from the hotel to the airport, we used the hotel’s free shuttle transfer
Headed to SAS check-in zone, and to an empty *G desk
Off to security check
Duty free
Finding our way to an SAS lounge
Here it is!
The lounge spreads over two floors. Presenting our *G cards to the front lady, we were directed to the upper floor.
Good selection of food here
On to the boarding gate
Blue 1 717
Our aircraft
Then at the scheduled time for boarding, the flight information displays delayed boarding time by 10 minutes.
At 19:45, a gate agent announced that due to operational reason, our SAS flight to Munich is cancelled. We were advised to proceed to transfer counters for re-booking. People (us included) really rushed to the transfer zone.
Once we got to the transfer zone, there were already so many people waiting. Although there were no clear signs that *G could use Business class queue, we decided to take a Business class queue.
After about 10 minutes, our number was called over. We went to the counter, showed us our travel documents and explained to the agent that our SAS flight to MUC was cancelled and would like to be rebooked on the next flight to Munich. A few seconds of looking into the system, he said that we were already rebooked to the next Lufthansa flight to MUC, departing at 21:25, and wanted to see my baggage receipt so he would make sure that my bags get also to Munich. Then we received our new boarding pass. I thanked the agent and headed back to the SAS lounge.
At the lounge entrance, I showed my new boarding pass and also the frequent flyer card. I noticed that my FF card detail hasn’t been entered in the boarding pass, so I asked if the lounge lady could help. We were told to visit a customer service desk, where an agent helped to input the FF details. In the end I got 500 miles towards my TG account, which I would otherwise don’t get had I been on the original SAS ticket.
Before pushed back, the captain made the welcome announcement. Mentioning also the reason of delay: that passengers from the earlier cancelled flight were rebooked on this flight. Making it a full flight and therefore he had to make new fuel calculations etc.
After took off, the crew served cheese croissant and drinks: I asked for beer and sparkling water
Leg room
Safety card
Being so tired, I slept for the remaining of the flight. Cabin shot
After landing, a short taxi to our parking position
My seat
A short bus journey to the terminal building
We made our way to the taxi rank and took a taxi to our hotel: Hilton Munich City Hotel, where our parents who just arrived from BKK with TG were waiting for us.
Our room
Overall, I had good flights with SAS and LH CityLine: It was my first flight on both the CRJ700 and MD82. The lounge at Copenhagen was actually quite nice. I think in my case, SAS did fine in handling flight a cancellation. The ground agent did a fast job rebooking us on the next available flight.
This would conclude the third part of my trip report. The next part will cover Air Berlin flight from Munich to Moscow and Niki from Moscow to Hannover via Vienna. Thanks all for reading, and all comments/questions are much appreciated.

i don't know why CPH does this. It was the same when I arrived on BA. The estimate is just so wrong!
Quoting win1290 (Thread starter): he said that we were already rebooked to the next Lufthansa flight to MUC,
Nice that you were rebooked, but it's a shame you have to queue up to find out. One benefit of the cancellation is the free food and drink on LH!

Yeah, it the good thing was that the bags came before

Thats right, and also I found out later that I was on an 'expensive' booking class so I got milleage too!

CPH sucks when it comes to bagage claims. They are always incredibly slow and this is destroying the overall impression of the airport which in other ways is excellent. I think this became a major issue after the airport was privatized. The security check line used to be horrible as well but they seem to have fixed that a few years ago.

Hi, W.,
congrats to score two new plane types. Well done with the MD and also good to see the CR7 here.
I really like these rear stairs on the MD, something definitely unique, lucky you.
Good pictures and well done story.

Hi Win
Nice report about SK and LH, glad you managed too log the MD80!
Too bad about the SK cancellation to MUC, glad they managed too rebook you without too many problems.

Nong Win!
Was wondering where have you been and here we go!!
I hope you had a great experience with SAS and Scandinavia! I know MD80s are old and rare to find but if you look closely, the plane is still in great conditions (mind the seat fabric). SAS knows how to take good care of airplanes
SAS lounge is very iconic. Many people say it looks IKEAish but honestly *nothing* in lounge is from IKEA.
Those furnitures are way more expensive (brands) than IKEA. Not to mention expensive Iittala tableware (Finnish brand) and Apple computer products.
Too bad the airlines is not in good position but let them deal with it. They created their own problems (with wages and endless lawful strikes), they themselves have to fit. Karma is a B**** most of the times!!
Pretty confidence you had wonderful time in Stockholm and Copenhagen.
Always love your trip report, nicely done and written politely with no attitude.
Thank you for sharing krub.
Brgds,
P'NET.
Don't be annoyed knowing the passengers around you are non-revs and op-upgraders, be grateful for them. Life is beautifu

Great report, nice to hear about your experience with SK (and LH somewhat unexpected).
Inspite of arriving later, the cancellation seemed like an upgrade to mee: free beer and snacks instead of a small cup of tea

Hi Win,
nice report about this trip to MUC. Bad to hear about the cancellation, I flew on SK659 this week and it was just slightly delayed. At least you got your first CRJ700.

Thanks a lot! I was wanting to go on the MD for so long and it was great to finally get on one.

Thanks. Yep these kind of cancellations can happen, but how the airlines handle them are so crucial, and SAS did great in my case.

Sawatdeekap P'Net!

Thanks so much krab! I am so happy you like it. Take care krab
Quoting jwhite9185 (Reply 8): Nice report there. Shame about the flight cancellation at what seemed like the last minute - also a pretty poor excuse too if you ask me!
Good to still get something a little different on the sector you were rebooked on though, rather than the standard A32X.
Thanks! Yep, last minutes cancellation can be quite annoying, but still I think SAS handled it ok in this particular case.
I agree, though SAS would have flown my using the CR9 I think, but the free drink and snack on LH was sure better than the buy-on-board on SAS.
Quoting jwhite9185 (Reply 8): Nice to see a few pics of the MD and CPH also, as I've got a trip with that combination coming up.
Nice! Where are you heading?
Quoting roberts87 (Reply 9): Great report, nice to hear about your experience with SK (and LH somewhat unexpected).

Thanks! It was great to get on those types, I think they are quite rare in my part of the world.
Agreed, SAS did a good job.
