Hi, I was just wondering what the service, seats, inflight entertainment, food and aircraft type was like as i'm a BIG fan of Austraila and i'm off there on the 25th Of December 2000 and comming back on the 13th of January 2001. My route will be - LHR - HGK - SYD and back again. From London to Hongkong i will be on BA and was wondering if they have installed the new Word Traverler? And From Hong Kong - Sydney on Qantas, i've heard many bad tails of Qantas's service ect but i would like some info on what you think!
Thanks for your input it's greatly appreciated!
Dan.

With regard to the HKG-SYD-HKG sector on QF128/127, you could be flying a 742, 743 or 744 (although it's 744 most of the time). However, since BA leased their G-BNLH to QF, that particular plane has been doing a lot of HKG flights, so it's possible that you might end up flying a BA-configured 744 all the way.

New Club World is in operation, so it really would be criminal of BA if new WT is not yet fitted on that route. It wouldn't surprise me though, judging by the total disregard they have for Economy Class.

Clubworld,
New W/T is fitted on HKG flts.
Would you care to elaborate on your statement of disregard? Some personal tales or facts maybe?
I'm a little confused as your username suggests you may like the airline?
Personally, with the money that's been invested over the last year or two,it is far,far better than it has ever been in economy(some things still need sorting).I don't think new W/T is total 'disregard " for economy pax.
Thanks in advance.

I am indeed a big fan of the airline. However, that does not stop me from dishing out criticism where it's due:
BA has been promoting New World Traveller for about 2 years now, yet why is it that refitting is so slow? There is as yet no guarantee of receiving it on 747s. On the other hand, New Club World has only been promoted for about 6 months and aircraft are being refitted thick and fast.
As an example, in mid-August 2000, LHR-HKG had beds in Club World but still no new WT. This illustrates BA's disregard for Economy pax.

Clubworld,
Just a few facts for your amusement.
The first 744 with new Club seats flew on Feb 2nd this year.By my last count,18 a/c have been fitted,2 more in process, with 1st fitted 777 due to fly LHR-ORD sometime now(early Dec.)
These a/c serve JFK,SFO,HKG,NRT,with more to follow when more a/c fitted.
With even the "rosiest" tinted glasses, this is hardly THICK and FAST!
In the last 2 years,ALL 777's have been fitted with new W/T and nearly 2 thirds of 744's.
This has been achieved whilst at the SAME time,ALL shorthaul a/c have been fitted with new Club Europe and Euro Traveller seats.
Please take a moment or 2,to ponder the work involved in fitting and re-wiring complex entertainment systems on an entire 744.Obviously,this kind of work cannot be done in an afternoon!
The logistical headache involved in scheduling a/c on routes, maintainence, refit, etc is amazing.(the a/c are flown to Cardiff for refits)considering the size of the operation.
All pax are important to BA,not just Premium ones.I think your statement on "disregard" is a bit far fetched.
Think about it?
P.S.By way of a smaller comparison,Mr Branson(who is world famous for wanting customer improvements implemented asap)is going to take over a year to refit his Upper Class cabin with only 24 or 25 a/c(soon to be more,I know),so you see how difficult a task it is?
Regards,Mr K.
