Time for my trip to Jacksonville, FL (this time landing in MCO, driving to JAX) which my sister and I take every summer. I woke up at 3:00 to get ready for my 7:00 flight, we still had an hours drive to Reno, my mom let me drive because there wasnt a lot of traffic (it was my first time driving in Reno). Stopped at a Tesoro gas station for donuts and coffee and then were on our way. We got to the airport a little after 5, checked in and headed to security. I got the full service, they patted me down, wanded me, made me take off my shoes, etc etc. Once we got past that, we had 45 minutes or so before we boarded. I picked up the July edition of Maxim which had Shakira on the cover for inflight reading and I also got an Iced Chai Latte from the coffee place right by our gate (B4). It used to be Starbucks but now its some Italian name that starts with an "R", I forgot. Finally, boarding was started, I got seat 9A, my sister got 10D, we tried to switch because she wanted to sit next to me but the guy next to me wanted his aisle seat. It was my first time on a CRJ, but other than that it was an uneventful flight. Salt Lake City is wierd looking from the air. We got into gate E22 I believe and used the stairs to deboard the aircraft. Skywests concourse is barren, its just a wing with a concrete floor and flight information monitors.

We took the moving sidewalks to the D concourse and waited for our next flight. I picked up a Sport Compact Car magazine at a newsstand. We boarded the aircraft and I had seat 43D and my sister had 43E. Takeoff was powerful as usual on 757. There was a meal service on this flight (the only on on my whole trip), we were served herb chicken and garlic mashed potatoes and green beans with a chocolate brownie and a salad, it was all good, I ate it all. "Ice Age" was the movie, I already had headphones from a previous Delta flight (they were charging $5 on this flight) but I didnt watch the movie, I filed thru the inflight music stations. There was a bad rainstorm in MCO when we landed, 15 minutes late. We pulled into gate 74 and deboarded. We took the tram to the terminal and looked around for my grandma and uncle who were picking us up. We saw the Hyatt hotel rooms when we looked up. We could not find them so we headed to the baggage claim B, it turns out there was a bad accident on I-4 or one of the other highways and they got delayed. We claimed our baggage and I was ready to get a Smarte Carte to haul our 6 pieces of luggage around while we looked for them. Then my sister found my grandma near the curbside entrance to the baggage claim as she walked in. My uncle pulled around the curbside, we quickly loaded our bags and headed to Jacksonville, stopping at Chik-Fil-A on I-4. Had a great time in Jacksonville, which included meeting the Jaguars (NFL football team) cheerleaders and getting pictures taken with them (proof, hehe).

To prevent us from having to get up at midnight in Jacksonville and driving to Orlando to be there 2 hours before our flight, we stayed at a Howard Johnson on Sandy Lake Blvd. right near the airport. We checked in at 8:15pm but I still went and swam in the pool. We got up at 3am and got to the airport at like 4:15, way early. So we waited around, got a Cinnabon, I grabbed an Orlando Sentinel newspaper (I had already purchased a Stuff magazine at Books-A-Million in Jacksonville). We waited till 6:15am to say goodbye to my uncle and grandma and go thru security, since it wasnt that busy. I got wanded and patted down again, only this time they only felt my shoes, I didnt have to take them off, geez, do I look that suspicious? Both times my sister got off scot free, maybe cuz she was wearing sandals. We boarded the tram to get to airside 4 (gates 60-99). We got to gate 73 with 10 minutes left till we boarded. Our itinerary said we had 13A and 13B but we got different seats, I had 42A and my sister had 42B. We got snack mix and drinks on this flight. It was neat being able to see the gulf coast of Florida up to Pensacola from the air. Uneventful flight. We got into DFW on time. They are doing lots of construction on an overhead tram around the airport. We pulled into gate E17.

We grabbed an Auntie Annies Pretzel and I got an Aquafina water from Freshens while in DFW. We looked around some of the shops because it was a short walk to our departing gate E20. We boarded and I had seat 37E and my sister had 37F. She never appreciates the window seat, she always tries to sleep because she hates flying and "anything to do with it". This flight had a particularly hot brunette FA, probably early to mid 30's. We got snack mix and drinks. We got into SLC on time and pulled into gate D4 I think, we had a 3 hour plus layover. I dragged my sister all over SLC's concourses (thank God for the moving sidewalks, we stayed out of the terminals, didnt wanna go thru security again). We got a slice of pizza at Sbarro and I got an iced latte at Starbucks.

DL flight 3691
Depart SLC at 2:42pm MT
Arrive RNO at 4:10pm PT
Skywest EMB-120
(forgot to get reg number as I deboarded aircraft in RNO, sorry)

When it was 45 minutes till our flight left, we went to gate E23, which was not actually in the Skywest wing (it had carpet and a waiting area). Our itinerary said this flight was #3438 but apparently it got changed to #3691. Our flight included a stop in Elko, NV. We boarded 20 minutes before departure via the stairs, I had seat 3A and my sister had 4A. This would be my first flight on prop aircraft that I remember (I know I flew a ERA aviation Convair prop). When my hand vibrated as the engines started, I could tell it would be a bumpy ride. We did a "rolling takeoff" I would say, as we turned the corner from the taxiway to the runway we did not stop but just kept on rolling thru the turn into the takeoff, it was a long takeoff. Their was a lot of turbulence, and that and the vibration made me feel queasy at times. We landed in Elko, NV and picked up ONE passenger, there was also a crew and pilot change. I moved across the aisle from my seat into 3B and 3C so I would have room to stretch, this wasnt exactly a full flight. I had never been to Elko before, I thought it would be bigger since it has an airport. It only has one asphalt runway. This time on takeoff we turned around at the end of the runway (no taxiways) and the pilot locked the brakes and revved the props and then released and we took off into the desert sky. This was an uneventful flight except for maybe a large surly FA (She didnt bother me but other pax seemed agitated with her tone). There was a haze in the Reno sky from the Oregon and California wildfires. It was a bumpy landing and we pulled onto the apron and deboarded via the stairs. We met my mom and dad, claimed our baggage and went to Olive Garden and then drove 60 miles home.

The Orlando Sentinel is good, I was disappointed that they didnt sell the Florida Times Union (Jacksonville paper, which I am used to), but the Orlando paper didnt disappoint, it had interesting articles. The Skywest EMB was painted like this
