Hi there and thanx so far that you´ve clicked the link to this story. I hope it´s interesting enough, that you stay a couple of minutes with me!

"Air Corsica/Heli Air Monaco/Easyjet BIA-BSL"

This trip in one word:

UNEXPECTED

This is a story about two fixed legs to go from BIA to BSL with some time in NCE in between. Some time in NCE in between?. Deep down in the Tripreporters most subconscious an idea grows. Well, let´s see!.

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/F1301/F1301212_zps2e08b9e2.jpg

Bonghjornu, dear readers,

the last story:

"Le Ile De Beaute By No HOP, But Yes Ccm" (by FLIEGER67 Jun 28 2013 in Trip Reports)

finds an end with me arrived, a couple of pictures done, late Sunday evening at the hotel Les Voyageurs in Bastia, Corsica.
Did I ever told you that the hotel´s name fit´s?.
I did, ok!.
The car is parked in Basle and it seems I should be there in the evening for some other duties tomorrow.

That´s the way to go today:

With thanx to, as usual:

http://www.gcmap.com/

And this time it´s not only something new on the departure airports map, no, two new places counted with no. 237 and no. 238:

Departure Airports II auf einer größeren Karte anzeigen

The previous 200 stations:

Departure airports auf einer größeren Karte anzeigen

And well, the Tripreporter 2013 data is growing and growing:

TRIPREPORTER 2013 auf einer größeren Karte anzeigen

Let´s start with the early morning duties!.
Breakfast is ready at the hotels restaurant
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/F1301/F1301129_zps02b849d6.jpg
With just me and no one else around
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/F1301/F1301126_zpsba12978c.jpg
That´s what I like, a variety of bread rolls and
several kinds of tea bags
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/F1301/F1301127_zps359cc167.jpg
And these big pots filled by a small corsican local factory with guaranteed local corsican apricot jam, yes they are really proud about their island!

Service XK 204 operated by Compagnie Corse Mediterranee/Air Corsica
Scheduled: 11.10 // 11.55

The very same oldfashioned bus with the very same expensive fare of 9.00 Euro´s but not the very same driver, it seems he´s at the football stadium right now,
shuttled me back for the airport. 09.15 am, ontime, corsican punctuality, nothing else expected, really?
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/F1301/F1301134_zpsc0fed850.jpg
Yes, that´s the one
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/F1301/F1301133_zps672ee15b.jpg
Let´s go for a view inside

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/F1301/F1301135_zps45931a82.jpg
And what´s to notice on these oldfashioned monitors?.
Enregistrement!
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/F1301/F1301132_zps186f9400.jpg
Ok, let´s go.
They like to see me at the counters today, OLCI doesn´t work yesterday.
No time to wait and a young corsican woman at work with another one behind, it seems she´s a trainee
and asked her colleague a couple of questions. Especially with the one about some miles on the Flying Blue account?.
"No, there is no mileage credit with the XK flightnumber booked".
"Ok, thanx". The ticket is fixed directly via the Air Corsica website, the fare 45.00 Euro´s, sure ok from my point of view.
Just a matter of minutes at security and will I see the
AT72 like on schedule?

The original plan sees me heading for a relaxed walk around the city with some lazy hours in between to the final flight of the day, but well, sometimes, you know!.
Soon thereafter I saw me sitting on a bench, Nexus Wifi mode on and checking the train schedules for Monaco- Monte Carlo.
Some 30 minutes from Nice-Ville to Monaco-Monte Carlo only.
Well, the idea grows.
You know, there is always someone inside who tells you: "No, this is a completely silly idea, it´s expensive and the risk to miss you´re final flight is on a high level, no way to go this way, you should not do it" and so on. But well, sometimes, you simply don´t hear it and like someone else directed it, walked further for the Heli Air Monaco counter.
A nice middle aged guy at work.
"Good day, are there seats available on the afternoon services from Monaco back to Nice?".
He´s the cool one, just to lift the eyebrowes shortly.
"Well let me check it for you.
When do you want to fly?".
"I should board another flight here at 4.50 pm, what about the 3.30 pm departure?".
"There are seats on the 3.00, 3.30 and 4.00 pm departures available, so if you like it, I will fix a seat on the 4.00 pm departure for you and you change it for the earlier one if you like it at Monaco".
"Is there a fee to change?".
"Nothing at all".
"Well, let´s do it this way".
And also this time I hear something far away inside me,
but wait, no, there is simply nothing to notice!.

Service YO 1500 operated by Heli Air Monaco
Scheduled: 15.00 // 15.07

Out of the terminal for the bus station where the public services to all these nice places along the Cote de Azur set off and also for example my ride to Nice-Ville train station. The nice middle aged woman at the counter sells also the train ticket. Interesting to notice that the bus for the station is more expensive than the train for Monaco-Monte Carlo, 7.70 Euro´s alltogether.
First step Nice-Ville by bus, arrived some 20 minutes later

Heli Air Monaco offers free pick up for all passengers from Monaco Heliport around the city.
Just a phone call later I have an appointment,

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/F1301/F1301196_zps18d2729f.jpg
It started to rain while I´am walked down for the meeting place.
It´s 2.45 pm, should I really wait till 3.30 pm and miss the action around the heliport?. Just by coincidence, while I´ve checked the bus timetable and noticed line 5 is running along the heliport from Place d'Armes and just by further coincidence the no. 5 shows up.
The decision is quickly done, skip the transfer, catch a ticket and ride the bus till Heliport.
Also when it doesn´t look like really for heli action
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/F1301/F1301197_zps46e09982.jpg
This is it, the Heliport de Monaco with now good to notice the sweet heli style engine noise in the background
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/F1301/F1301198_zpse6e5b37c.jpg
Heli Air Monaco counts up till 24 departures during the high season in each directions on the route, today there are 20 on offer and it´s 3.00 pm with dark heavy clouds in the short distance when I´ve entered the terminal. There is another middle aged guy at work.
"Bonjour, I´am fixed on the 4.00 pm departure, is it possible to change for the 3.30 pm service?".
"No, sorry, the 3.30 pm is fully booked, you can stay with the 4.00 pm where you have you´re seat fixed, but you can also join the 3.00 pm service right now when you are quick".
Well, when I remember these heavy clouds and the flight to catch soon from NCE, the decision is swiftly done again.
Later, when I´ve checked my credit card receipt, the fare is 120.00 Euro´s btw. and really worth it,
it shows 3.04 pm. Not bad to pay for you´re ticket, catch you´re boarding pass, through security where the single elder male guy done a swift job, rush through the one and only door without any gate assignement and board the Heli parked with running engine just a couple of meters thereafter for the ten minutes late by now and I´am sure this has definitely nothing to do with me, 3.00 pm departure.
Let´s call it "celebrity style", not that I like to do it more often this way.
3.10 pm in the end, light rain with 18 degrees to leave Monaco finally and if there is a lounge on offer here, I´ve missed it. Welcome to "Heli Air".
A couple of more heli´s parked

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/F1301/F1301221_zpseb26bf08.jpg
Just to notice, 3A-MTT was the very first time for me on the Eurocopter AS 350 Ecureuil and this was also the very first time on something registered in Monaco.
Five passenger seats are available with the Heli Air Monaco configuration.
It´s line no. 1967, no more data about the heli found.
Swiftly thereafter a personal looking door is opened by the driver and we are inside the terminal.
Wished the belgian couple a good day. They are heading fur Brussels now on a very similar way like me and enjoyed the ride also pretty much!.

With the no more free seating policy nowadays in operation by EZY and I dislike to be stuck in a crappy middle seat assigned by the Check-In system I´ve decided to give them a go and send some 10.00 Euro´s more to the company for the last row window.
EZY operates from a separate terminal wing and when you see these masses of people, it´s just a standard monday afternoon, no school vacation time, no public holiday, you know how these companies revolutionized air travel.

2.)Heli Air Monaco MCM-NCE: Simply a superb experience.
3.)Easyjet NCE-BSL: Ok so far with the full flight.

And now ready for new adventures!.

Hi Markus !

Great read and very nice pictures !

Very nice to get a ride on Heli Air Monaco! Great to take the train there which is a very scenic route and must be very nice to fly back on such low altitude in the helicopter!

EasyJet seems VERY cramped. Air Corsica seems nice again.

Looking forward to your next report!

Salut Markus,

Hello FLIEGER67

Very nice report! And congratulations on the great decision on how to pass the time in NCE.... no better way for a trip reporter.

BIA airport looks lovely with all the plants in a very nice tone of green.

Personally, I preferred the old seating procedure on easyJet - free seating. I usually dislike to pay for any ancillary services... and during the free seating period, I always managed to get a window even on rather full flights.

Looking forward to reading about your Cardiff trip!
Best regards, LXM83

It is cramped but I've flown them multiple times, you have ok-ish legroom. it's better anyways than RYR (but hey that's logical) and most of the crew is always very friendly and helpfull (even some premium carriers can't even have staff that smiles..)

Finally something up to your expectations: a helicopter ride on Heli-Air-Monaco... that is travelling on style from one of the most exclusive destinations on the Med.

You deserved nothing less.

That was a great report with some new enhancements that made it very exciting and enjoyable.

Happy flights! Pity we will not meet in Vancouver; BTW, I imagine something liquid and special there

Hi Markus, nice read as usual.

Brings back some memories of my visit to Monaco last year, as I also visited the palace on top of the hill - one of the few places I could actually get to in Monaco, as when I was there the GP was on - not so much as a view from the top of the hill!

Great that you got a ride on the helicopter too - not sure I've seen a report from one of those on here before!

Hi Markus,

Sorry for the late reply, somehow I missed this one first time round. Corsica, CCM, a heli ride and easyJet, a varied combo!

That was a great decision to take the heli flight. Those sort of spur of the moment decisions are often the best and I’m sure it’s a special flight you’ll never forget = worth every Euro.

The front one, CCM, without a doubt.

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
You know, there is always someone inside who tells you: "No, this is a completely silly idea, it´s expensive and the risk to miss you´re final flight is on a high level, no way to go this way, you should not do it" and so on. But well, sometimes, you simply don´t hear it and like someone else directed it, walked further for the Heli Air Monaco counter.

No risk, no fun!

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Steep, but worth it

Reminds me of something similar in Salzburg….

Quoting FLIEGER67 (Thread starter):
Heli parked with running engine just a couple of meters thereafter for the ten minutes late by now and I´am sure this has definitely nothing to do with me, 3.00 pm departure

Not that you are ever, ever the last to board!
