Hi, this report is the return leg of my Florida holiday in May. I have included a few pictures of my
holiday before the TR proper.

My car, Mustang photo DSCF2143.jpg

My rental car, Mustang convertible. A fun ride but a little under powered, usually have the Chevrolet Camero but they were all out when I got there.

In Epcot they have Million dollar rides and yet these young children get the most fun out of these little splashing water fountains, and the parents have the biggest smiles as they watch the children play.

Epcot was having their flower festival when I was there.

At Epcot GM had some cars on show at Race Track including this new Corvette mock up, wow!
Imagine renting that for a day!

Over at Hollywood Studios you will find the Disney Artwork, I always thought that the backgrounds in the handmade cartoons were wonderful.

At Magic kingdom they are building a new Snow White ride, due to open May 2014.

Now for the ride home.
Departure to the UK is a comfortable 1730 arriving at around about 0700.Flying on Friday I had forgotten it was the start of the Memorial Day weekend and thought I was going to be caught up
in the rush, Orlando airport was its usual self however. I dropped off the rental car and walked across to Terminal B and the British Airways desk, a line of about 20+ people for Economy and
no one at Club. With hand luggage only I was done and dusted in under 3 minutes and headed to
the security lane, again just two people in front of me and I was past and onto the tram in less than 10 minutes.

Very quiet for the start of a holiday weekend.

At Orlando British Airways offers Club passengers the use of the Delta lounge, this is also used by
Virgin Atlantic and Lufthansa so usually makes for a busy room, however again there was a lot more
space than usual, unlike a BA lounge there is no food available just some nuts and crackers. The self
service bar is replaced by a manned counter but the drinks flow freely and an hour is ample in here.

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/readytotaxi/Holiday%20May%2013/DSCF2295.jpg

Down at the gate the line is forming, we have picked up a 40 minute delay due to the late arrival of the inbound aircraft. The incident with the BA 319 which lost its engine covers and returned to LHR caused diverts to LGW and delayed our aircraft.
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/readytotaxi/Holiday%20May%2013/DSCF2301.jpg

Our aircraft tonight.

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/readytotaxi/Holiday%20May%2013/DSCF2304.jpg

On the other side of the pier Virgin is also departing and the area can get a little crowded, as soon as the “assistance” passengers were boarded the Club passengers were invited to board and we strolled to the aircraft. We were all greeted at the door by name, from the boarding card and directed to our seat.

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/readytotaxi/Holiday%20May%2013/boardingcard.jpg

, I am in the forward Club cabin, which was full. I find that the second demi cabin after the galley picks up a lot more noise from the wing and is not really good for a night flight. The boarding process goes well and under 20 minutes all appear to be onboard however the doors are not shut, 15 minutes later the doors are still not shut and then the captain comes on the PA,” Sorry ladies and gentlemen, we are unable to tally the luggage count and there will be a further delay whiles bags are re-checked. Oh dear, in the Club cabin staff use the delay to hand out wash bags and menus for dinner and then 5 minutes later they then do the “hot towel” service, well it keeps us occupied.
A look at the IFE menu tonight.

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/readytotaxi/Holiday%20May%2013/ife4.jpg

The Cabin Service Manger, Sally, does the rounds of the 3 Gold card holders in the cabin, I have flown with Sally a couple of times, a mature lady and I know from experience that we are in for a good trip. Another 15 minutes pass and the doors close, the captain announces that the luggage problem in solved and we start push back.

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/readytotaxi/Holiday%20May%2013/DSCF2310.jpg

We are now about 90 minutes late and that causes a problem for the 2nd flight of the day.

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/readytotaxi/Holiday%20May%2013/DSCF2311.jpg

We are hogging their gate, they have to go around the block and wait till we clear.

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/readytotaxi/Holiday%20May%2013/DSCF2312.jpg

As we takeoff out I note that an afternoon cloud burst to the west is probably giving the Theme parks a drenching.

Takeoff roll Video.

it is a pleasant early evening climb north and the sun is still high and warm through the glass, the clouds are well lit and enjoyable.

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/readytotaxi/Holiday%20May%2013/wines.jpg

It is about 20 minutes after takeoff that I start to note how dirty the space is around my seat area,
surprised that I did not pick up on it earlier.
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/readytotaxi/Holiday%20May%2013/DSCF2321.jpg

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/readytotaxi/Holiday%20May%2013/DSCF2325.jpg

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/readytotaxi/Holiday%20May%2013/DSCF2313.jpg

The lower wall vents are covered in dirt/dust and at the bottom of the foot rest there was a good build up of dirt .This was clearly the result of poor cleaning standards over a number of weeks, and as I reclined my seat I found food particles from the previous flight in the seat covers. I understand that the Gatwick 777 fleet is highly utilised but standards here are slipping, G-VIIP needs a good deep clean inside the Club cabin.

After about 20 minutes the seat belt light went out and I went to the mid galley toilet, found it to be fresh and clean and well stocked.
On returning to my seat the first drinks run had started, things are quicker on the inbound leg than outbound, the wines choice was very good, I had the Sauvignon Blanc, light crisp and a good fruit body.
Sally was taking the menu orders tonight and treated each passenger as an individual, addressed by name and unrushed.
I selected the salmon starter followed by the steak.
The second drink run came around 15 minutes later followed shortly after by the starter.

http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/readytotaxi/Holiday%20May%2013/DSCF2326.jpg

The salmon was fresh & tasty and the white cheese was tangy.
The main course followed shortly after, but not rushed.

The steak with herb crust was wonderful, really melt in the mouth, the vegetables were crisp and the mashed potatoes were firm and flavourful. Sally served my meal and immediately offered a wine refill in a fresh glass, very good service.

Dessert was cheese grapes and oat crackers.
Not a fan of the Oat cracker so eat the other two items

It is a very short sunset and sunrise on this flight and the cabin is dark for just a few hours.

The cabin settles down for a sleep.

The Club kitchen is available once the main meal service has finished and is well stocked for passengers to help themselves before breakfast is served. There are nibbles, fruit, wraps and chocolate.

About 70 minutes before landing Breakfast is served.
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj283/readytotaxi/Holiday%20May%2013/menu2.jpg

Always give this a miss, just a coffee for me.
There had been a 1yr old baby on the flight which behaved perfectly and by chance in the back of the IFE guide was this vintage picture.

the first overhead bin? photo boac.jpg

Nip to the toilet before landing and freshen up.The co-pilot announces “20 minutes “to landing and the cabin goes into lock down.
Our run in is direct for a change, no holding and in on 08R. We have made up a little of the time delay perhaps 20 minutes but no worry.
We taxi towards the North Terminal and then turn right, damn, gate 111, again.
More leg work by me is required up over the air/jet bridge to passport control.
After clearing customs I call my car parking company and my car is delivered to the
terminal in less than 10 minutes, found this “Meet & Greet” service always works well.

An Email to BA customer service about the poor state of the cabin produced a “tea and sympathy”
response from them but nothing else. I know that the Gatwick fleet of 777’s is highly utilised but
cleaning standards seem to be slipping.

A very good crew and great food helped ease the pain. thanks for taking the time to view it.

Really enjoyed this trip report! Though I can't say the same for the rest of Florida, I really do enjoy the Orlando theme parks. In my opinion, you can never be too old to enjoy Disneyworld-even if the majority of the rides cater to a younger crowd, there's always plenty of fun to be had and I enjoy how detailed and well thought out all the aspects of the parks are!

I liked the shots of the Delta club as well; from what I've seen from other trip reports on this sight, it's unusual to see a premium club decorated in that slightly more traditional manner, but I like it and it looks very comfortable. Some of the pictures of the newer clubs I've seen seem very cold and almost too modern, then again, I'd certainly take any if I were in a position to do so.

The flight seemed lovely, too, and the food looked good though it is disappointing that the cabin was so dirty! It really is all the little details that add up to an overall great experience in any spectrum, so it's a shame the plane wasn't better taken care of.

Thanks for posting!

Jordan

Thanks for reading, the cabin crew more than made up for the dirty cabin area and the food was good.
I agree it is the little things that make the difference.
