And so the silly season of Indonesia holidays began, which means all offices are closed for 10 days. Surprisingly the roads were pretty clear and we arrived with plenty of time to spare. As usual after formalities were completed we just waited in the lounge till boarding was announced.There was a 20min delay upon boarding due to late arrival of this aircraft. Although boarding was completed swiftly, typical of CGK, we were held for another 30mins waiting for our slot to take off. Once we took off meal service began and after that I just watched some shows and rested till we arrived in Perth.
As I have flown this route so many times, any even countless times in Ga’s J cabin on the B738, I will just let the pictures do the talking.

Arrived at Perth airport with about 2 hours to spare. After check in we managed to grab a bite to eat at the food court and also I went out to have a few smokes. Formalities were completed swiftly and after that we just relaxed in the Qantas lounge which Air New Zealand uses. Boarding was called on time and looking at all the people, looks like a full load in both J and Y.

We were about 15 mins behind schedule by the time we took off. Everything was fine on the flight itself with dinner being served about an hour after take off.

After the meal I went to bed and was only woken due to the purser making an announcing that they are preparing the cabin for arrival. Overall a flawless flight with Air New Zealand.
After a nice 24hr stopover in AKL, we arrived at the domestic terminal with plenty of time to spare. After check in we had breakfast at McDonald's before heading through the gate.
All Air NZ flights are in all econ configuration now. However front couple of rows has additional leg room and reserved mainly for incoming passenger from business class and star gold members like myself.
Flight itself was uneventful. For this short flight drinks and light snacks were provided. One plus point of the flight was that the inflight crew were polite and really nice, and we also flew past some really great scenery. Looking forward to my next flight with Air NZ.

After 5 fantastic days snowboarding in Queenstown, its now time to head back home to Perth. Arrived at the airport with plenty of time to spare. We just waited at the cafe till boarding was called.

Cabin crew are friendly and polite as usual. This short flight went by quickly and was also a full load going to AKL.

After arriving at the domestic terminal in AKL,we took a leisurely 10min walk to the international terminal. Since we already got our boarding pass, all we had to do is just relax. We decided to have lunch at the food court, after which we proceeded to use the NZ Premium check in for immediate access to immigration and security check which both took less than 4mins to complete.

The rest of our time was just spent at the NZ lounge till boarding began. We were one of the first few to board and we quickly settled into our seats.

After take off the captain announced that we will be late arriving into Perth due to stronger than usual head winds, and its not too much of a problem for me as I am really comfortable on this flight.
After meals were served I just managed to take a nap and then back on to watching shows on my iPad till descend commenced.

Hi Herbert, nice report!
Must say that Air NZ's Business Premier still looks impressive despite the fact that it's been around for quite some while. Did the seats feel cramped despite the herringbone configuration? Also interesting to see them use the same seats on the A320 as Jetstar have on its newer planes. Nonetheless they are comfy enough for a short flight.

Thx for another interesting report. I must say that i am not a fan of the ANZ business configuration and the domestic flights are the first time I see european business class outside europe but it looks like they do the job right. The lounge at AKL looks nice.

Actually my favourite herringbone of all airlines is Air NZ. It really feels spacious and I am quite comfortable in them.

Actually for me I am still disappointed they do not have J on domestic routes, but the legroom is indeed pretty generous. And i guess for NZ, their longest route is also only around 2hrs, so what they have in terms of domestic product, should suffice.

They also don't offer business class on most Short Haul International flights, they moved J from the International A320 in about 2006.
