The trip in one word:

INTERRUPTIONS

"This is a story about a visit to one of these not to well known cities in France and a somewhat difficult try to catch a new departure airport".

Bienvenue, dear readers,

a week has passed at the homebase since the last trip:

Tunisia TunisairExpress Djerba Tunisair (by FLIEGER67 Oct 6 2013 in Trip Reports)

And today is also something to look really forward to.
This is the way to go, at least according to schedule:

Service Air France AF 7335 operated by Airlinair
Scheduled: 08.50 // 10.05

Good morning, it´s 04.00 am when the cell phone does the job and calls me for a day in the air and a relaxed so far, or not?, late morning departure.
Up and away as scheduled, riding through the black forest on the same route like several times before.
It´s a standard biz Monday morning, what means lot´s of trucks on the road. Ok so far on the main road and also ok so far to take over one by one till shortly after Titisee, in the middle of the black nowhere. There are not that many alternative routes to follow for my first target today.
And the main road is closed now, diversion and you know what it means to drive on small roads behind trucks and more trucks. No chance to overtake and much better, while riding through the dawn the cell phone shows me a new message. Something welcoming from my travel companions today?.
Not really, the last flight of the day is cancelled and they are working for another solution.
Well, sounds really nice, isn´t it?. Where is this irony-out button here again?. Especially when I don´t really know if I will catch the first flight of the day.
Well, rushing down the motorway, finally arrived and parked the car at F3 with not that many time left now. A warm welcome to H., you win again!.
OLCI works, but again no seat change possible.
The SSK´s prepared me with the necessary boarding paper and
there are some minutes till boarding. Time to visit the AF counter, where a nice elder woman know what´s going on with nevertheless not that many new ideas.
We asked to change for another flight, this one is also considered during the trip preparations. She confirmed, this flight is not also cancelled, till now and she tries to fix it for us. But it doesn´t work with someone else on our booking right now.
Well, hope for the best and no lounge to miss here.
Interesting, boarding, but no gate on the screen, 21 is the place to go finally
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FRA20022012/F1302001_zpsd8b6d4e6.jpg
It´s time now for a swift security check and the first flight of three, theoretically, looks like ok. Or should I better fly Breitling Airlines, just for the case?
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FRA20022012/F1302002_zps300067a3.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FRA20022012/F1302004_zps727fab78.jpg
This service is fixed with AF directly, 55.00 Euro´s is the fare booked as a oneway ticket.
F-GVZN is the scheduled AT72, new to the log and leg no. 27 on type. No individual names with Airlinair to see
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FRA20022012/F1302005_zps901a68a4.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FRA20022012/F1302006_zps507df20c.jpg
The first flight is noticed at 02.12.1998 with Air Tahiti, some ten years later changed to Airlinair.
Ten examples are in the fleet and there are no incidents to show

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FRA20022012/F1302008_zps129d5592.jpg
Cockpit crew is from France,"Le Capitaine" with a short and nice welcome on the ground and once more with the latest weather data later on during the early stages of the approach.
No route or flightlevel data.
Leaving the "Aéroport Bâle-Mulhouse-Fribourg" with a
shortcut from runway "One-Five".
No way to need the full 3900 meters with these ATR´s!.
08.45 am, close to ontime, 1.05 hours by "Airlinair" for the "Aéroport de Paris-Orly".
The temperature is 14 degrees, cloudy but dry till now.
And a view for the, by any respect, low legroom

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FRA20022012/F1302010_zpsd705425b.jpg
French as the number one language here with seat 5F, two for me, at least from time to time!

Two female FA´s working the cabin.
Both middle aged, one blonde, ok and one North-African style, nice.
Inflight entertainment Airlinair style

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FRA20022012/F1302016_zpsac4b6172.jpg
Service is a small cake and free water, coffee, tea.
Clouds but there is also today some blue further up
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FRA20022012/F1302017_zps3f136ac1.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FRA20022012/F1302018_zps53dcfb5e.jpg
The interior looks like just a bit worn out till arrival into ORY

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FRA20022012/F1302020_zpsf051bd62.jpg
Touchdown at ORY´s 3650 meters runway "Zero-Six" with 12 cloudy degrees and it´s 10.00 am, what also means short ahead to schedule.
Bye now for F-GVZN
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FRA20022012/F1302021_zpsbb5d0d6e.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FRA20022012/F1302022_zps50aefdb8.jpg
And further to catch "Les Cars Air France" for the ride along one or two or thousand industrial estates till CDG airport.
Free for me with the AF/Skyteam Gold Status and also acceptable for my companion.
The first one is booked up, but the second one runs only minutes thereafter.
Well, the bus is heavily used, legroom space is not that impressive but it works faster than expected in the end.
Finally at CDG and the TGV train station.
Where "Paul", frequent visitors to France know what I mean,
offered delicious pastries to cater us for the further way on the train to where exactly these company have it´s headquarters in the north of France.
The TGV is just arrived from Lille-Europe and nothing to notice for the outbound to the same station.
Nothing new till now with our cancelled flight by the way

Service HOP A5 3436 operated by Regional CAE
Scheduled: 19.00 // 19.55

Is this finally the map of the day?:

http://www.gcmap.com/map?P=mlh-ory-lil-sxb-bsl&MS=bm&MR=240&MX=720x360&PM=*

No message from AF till now and therefore go for a try at the SSK´s. Well, Check-In is not possible, the machine shows our original long gone flight for LYS. Heading to the service counter where the young woman doesn´t speak a english word, thanx to my companion also good in french to explain the situation and till a elder woman arrived.
It feels like an eternity, a thousand of "Ah´s" and "Oh´s", phone calls and else.
Imagine our feeling this way at Lille, with the cars at MLH and some duties to go the next day.
Till the final "Puh", everything done and she send us immediatelly for the counter with not many time now till departure for SXB

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FRA20022012/F1302068_zps6be31149.jpg
But anyway a couple of pictures around departure airport no. 252 are necessary

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FRA20022012/F1302074_zps5ec5e461.jpg
A thousand of special travellers occupy the terminal with lots of bags heading for Fes by these Ireland based company. Therefore it seems we should go immediatelly for security now prior to all these people.
No lounge to miss here by the way.
Self service only, no restaurant or bar at all.
Our flight with a short delay now on the screen but most important, not also cancelled

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FRA20022012/F1302076_zps78e1094d.jpg
Boarding from gate 5 is called finally and that´s the one to go now.
Originally scheduled equipment for the two flights are the CR7 on LIL-LYS and the AT42 later changed for the E45 from LYS to MLH.
Now we have finally the E45 here

This is one more Flugladen.de ticket confirmation, the fare 120,00 Euro´s and this is also the originally scheduled equipment on the LIL-SXB service.
F-GUBC, another one of these no-name planes, new to the log and leg no. 11 on type.
In service with Regional since 24.01.2002, 19 examples are in the fleet and there are no incidents to report

No more apron pictures, she´s the boss!

Cabin crew is one middle aged nice male FA and the cabin
looks like fresh on this plane.
Dark blue oldfashioned comfy leather seats, the legroom is ok
and the load is just to my surprise 80%, something more expected with the cancellations.
6F and two for me, you know, just from time to time!

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FRA20022012/F1302084_zps15229873.jpg
Cockpit crew is from France.
"Le Pilote" with a short welcome on the ground, waiting for the final loadsheet with, so it seems, some more rebookings beside us. He´s once again short on the mike later on with the decent announcement.
No route nor flightlevel info.
7.15 pm, 15 minutes late for "Regional Europe" to go on the 45 minutes hop, pure coincidence!, for SXB.
Leaving the "Aeroport de Lille" now from the 2825 meters runway "Two-Six" with 18 degrees and partly cloudy sky

Touchdown at the 2400 meters runway "Two-Three", 8.05 pm,
ten minutes late, 16 degrees, cloudy and dry.
The "Aeroport International Strasbourg" shows me the chance to confirm the registration

Well, we are in the early evening and there is just a distance to go till the cars.
A local train service is connecting SXB airport with the main train station, some minutes to wait now. And a short view around the cancelled flights tomorrow, all affected by strike action "A la francaise"
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FRA20022012/F1302096_zps25b1b830.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FRA20022012/F1302097_zps0b13f2f2.jpg
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FRA20022012/F1302098_zps377432af.jpg
Finally arrived at SXB main train station, down the stairs, the next departure and like we learned later on, the final direct departure of the day, is just in a minute from a track closeby, no ticket yet.
Up the stairs again and my travel companion managed it, what seems like only possible in France this way, that we are ok to board the train without a ticket.
Well, nobody cares about on the whole ride till Basel SBB.
Strange place, we are inbound from the EU to Switzerland now, no passport check but the customs officers looking like not to have a funny time there, if something is above the limit!.
And the final picture of the day at Basel SBB
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/FRA20022012/F1302099_zps788a86d0.jpg
A nightly run by bus for the airport, no one beside us this way, but a huge group of late inbound pax to BSL waiting the other way around.
Some hours later here than expected with a grumbling welcome by the car "You´re late", but as soon as it noticed my travel companion, it´s back to the usual more nice standards and also offers a free shuttle ride!.
Thanx to H. and also M. again, for sure a really nice and interesting day to travel around France with a good end!.

Someone for the conclusions?:

1.)Airlinair MLH-ORY: Short and calm to start the travel day with nice company.
2.)Regional LIL-SXB: That´s the way to cut two flights down for one.

Do you want to feel the pain?.
That´s the theme around the next trip!:

http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b305/FLIEGER67/BFS08/BG1301011_zps4bcda497.jpg

And further on with supernice local company what compensates
it again!.

Au revoir,
take care,
comments, maybe?.

Hello Markus,

Thanks for sharing this story, I remember H's report on this trip, but good to read your take on it as well. Always nice, these short domestic flights with Hop! Lille is a nice city for a short visit. Shame about the cancellations, but good to read it was all worked out in the end.

Hello Markus!

Good to follow your story on this chaotic travel day, it can’t go well all of the time, can it? At least you had some local and more-or-less local companion to lift you up and visiting Lille was definitely a good idea, it’s a really nice city! I’m happy to read you got home safe and sound, albeit on a firm detour

These French ATC folks are more on strike than they are at work it seems?

Hi Markus,

What better way to spend my rainy day off than to think back to the eventful time we spent in Lille together with M. We were really lucky things turned out ok in the end!

It feels like an eternity, a thousand of "Ah´s" and "Oh´s", phone calls and else.
Imagine our feeling this way at Lille, with the cars at MLH and some duties to go the next day.
Till the final "Puh

Yep, they were quite a nerve-wracking 5 minutes!

Hi Markus,

Nice report as usual. Both Regional (or HOP) flights look like the standard, nothing all too special!
Good to hear you were able to make it to MLH anyway although AF could've kept you updated a bit better!
Nice pictures of Lille as well

Or should I better fly Breitling Airlines, just for the case?

That one looks very familiar

Hi Markus,

Nice read and pictures as usual.

Many many years since I have been to Lille, and saw little of it too, but wow, what a wonderful looking city, love all the historic architecture.

Cheers
