Well...this is my first official posting so I'll try to make it a good one. On August 3, 2000 I took a flight from Seattle-Tacoma International to Charlotte-Douglass in North Carolina. My reason for taking this trip was definitely different than everyone else's on board...I wasn't traveling for leisure, for pleasure, or for business. I was flying to Charlotte to visit my girlfriend who lives just south of Charlotte in a small city on the border of South Carolina. It's a funny, story, too, seeing that we were acually meeting for the first time in person. Now that I'm back, I can safely say that it is an internet relationship that is working perfectly, despite the distance. Anyway, on to the flight details!
I forget the flight number, but it was a brand-spanking new Boeing 737-800 that Continental was flying that day. Even though I don't particulary like Continental's paint scheme, the bird sure looked impressive through the windows looking out of Seatac's C concourse.
Anyway, I boarded the plane, and took my seat. It was seat 18F, behind the wing. I'm a pilot and I've got this wierd fetish for siting behind the wing of any large airliner. I guess I just like to watch the flaps and the spoilers. I've been doing this ever since I was a little boy! What impressed me with this particular 737 was the fact that it had pop down LCD tv screens. I have never seen these before, then again, I've never been on a 737-800 before. I've been on a -200, -300, and a -500, but never an -800. We took off at about 6:30 am local time and arrived about four and a half hours later in Houston, Texas, where I switched flights to go to Charlotte.
This was my first flight into Houston, and I swear, it's HUGE! I've been to Amsterdam before while enroute to Germany, and that is huge also. And, I noticed, just about every plane there was all decked out in Continental livery. I think Houston is their major hub, but I'm not sure. Oh well. Anyway, I transfered to a 737-500 that took me to Charlotte...and took me to my love. On both flights, the service was pretty decent. I've flown continental before, and I've never had a bad experience with them at all.
The return flight was the same route, but just the opposite and I've no complaints either. It was a night flight out of Houston, and I must say that seeing Houston all lit up with it's green low vis taxi lights, blue taxi lights, runway markers, and all the other lights, is sure impressive.
So, if I was to rate the flight on a scale of 1 to 10, I'd give it a 9.5. The only thing I don't like about Continental, as I have mentioned, is it's paint scheme.
