Ive spent that day in Abudhabi seeing some family friends , and watching some football on tele, Juventus were playing all stars Arabia , it was 3-2 to Juventus (quite obvious) .
I arrived at the airport at 23:00 and the airport was asusual , fucking BUSY ! there were shit loads of people ! I managed to find my way through , and checked my baggage, I had some excess , but was allowed to take it (the check in agent was very friendly , she remembered checking me before on a BA flight to LHR in mid 2001)
She was very attentive as she issued my connecting boarding pass- quite unusual for checking agents at Dubai aiport at this time .
Said my goodbyes to my parents , but as I was leaving , I saw two girls I knew from school in dubai , who were on the same exact flight , but connecting over to Montreal (Marco , they were Mrs, Aboud’s daughters)
Continued on to immigration, then to duty free , where I got a few CD’s , chocolates , shisha tobacco and then rushed to the food court , there, I saw another person I knew from skool here in England , he’s Malaysian, he was booked on a flight on MAS from KUL to LHR but the flight was overbooked , so they transferred him to LGW via DXB , so he had to get the EK to LGW,
N e ways, spoke to him for a bit , then had a BigMac from Mcdonalds, and a shawarma from a Lebanese restaurant ,then sat down and starred at the departures screen , so that’s what I saw:

All the above flights were either boarding or delayed , or had a final call.
That was when I realised my name was being called out for the airfrance flight to Paris (final call) , so I rushed to gate 16 .
I was one of the last few people to board, so I rushed to the aircraft.
It was a clean B772 , in three classes . the Flight was 100% full in all three classes .
Found my my seat , which was a first row seat , 23F
Everyone looked grumpy on this flight . the cabin crew barely spoke English , we pushed back on time ,and safety was shown on the video screens . as we taxied all the way next to Emirates skycargo centre , I saw royal jordanian B707 cargo, Sudanese A300 parked on the side , loads of BBJ private jets , SQ B747 cargo , AF 747 cargo and Ethopian B757 cargo.
Saw a GulfAir B767 take off , and Airindia A310 land , then we took off smoothly , then made a steep right , and saw a glimpse of the burj al arab , which was BEATIFUL .

A light snack was served, no menus onboard (quite strange) which consisted of a chicken pasty and a middle-eastern spinach pastry , and some other thing I didn’t even bother touching …. I was full after ive stuffed my self earlier .. tried to see whats on TV , they were showing Austin powers 3 , and some French movies …so watched that for a bit , then switched to the radio .the map was in 3 dimension (ive never seen that before)
The FA’s cleaned up soon afterwards , then an American women from texas, next to me ,in her mid 40’s , started talking to her self … she opened the sock bag , took the ear plugs out and said “quite kinky !”
Really strange women , but still nice …
She was very talkative , and wouldn’t shut up ! I hate people like that on flights … she started telling me about how she works for the American government , getting prepared for the attack in iraq , there were quite a few Americans on this flight because of the doe share with Delta …
Managed to get some sleep half way through , and got woken up as we were approaching paris , the cabin was freezing , and the food was awful and crap, consisted of some rubber and plain omlette with some greasy hasg browns . the French bread was alright , fruit , yoghurt and chocolate mouse , and OJ ….

Landed in CDG slightly early , it was foggy, cloudy and cold , then after a long taxi , and some boring instructions, we taxied at terminal 2C

AF 1170
DEPT. 0800
Next was abit strange ,I got off , then went to the connecting flight in 2F for 8:00 dept. to LHR .
As I got there , I feel asleep next to a dept. gate for an MEA flight to Beirut , with my passport in my hand (I know , it was really smart of me) , so I got woken up as my name was being called for the flight ( I was delaying the flight) , but my passport wasn’t in my hand , so I panicked , went to the gate and explained . They panicked as well and starting looking with me in my bags , as they called the police . they offloaded my luggage from the acft and had it checked again .i quickly ran back to my place , where I slept for abit , and found it under the chair ( how f*cking smart) , as I ran back , the plane had already starting moving , so I was put on my next flight , that leaves at 10:55 , so I had another two and a half hours to kill .
I felt stupid and got given a French lecture by the two FA’s in French , which I never understood .
Managed to kill time by staying awake . When the time came to board , they announced due to cabin crew strike and bad weather in paris and LHR , a further delay of about an hour .
By that time , I lost interest in everything , and CONTINUED to wait for ages .
We took a single bus to a parked B737-400 , which was falling apart .
We took off at 11:40 and breakfast was served , wich was a French roll , ham and cheese , youghurt and jam , plus a selection of tea or coffee .
It was very turbulent , and finally landed into LHR T2 at 12:30 , it was snowing and cold

My luggage came out damaged , and I also missed my bus connection , so which meant I had to spend another 4 hours in heathrow, when I complained to the AF desks on LHR , they said “it was out of our control” and refused to do anything …so I left at 4:15 and got to my place at 8 in the evening , absolutely tired ! ( where I could have easily got there at 10 in the morning )

Sorry about a boring report , but I seriously was very tired towards the end ,
I hated that journey …and I have come to a conclusion , that I will try to wither take BA or Emirates next time where ever possible, they are the best and definitely better than KLM and AF …….
That’s it ,
Any questions ?

Salamalikum Ahmed ,
how are you man?i swear reading your report just reminded me of what strange things happened with me this break...i was also supposed to fly to KHI as usual on my winter break...my father sent tickets for me and my friend from KHI through DHL...the tickets were to reach Boston by the 23rd dec and our flight was 24th....to cut it short we didnt get tickets until the 2nd of jan and by then it was too late to go....we were gonna fly to EWR and then take the Malaysian flight to DXB....we even had a day stay in DXB man!! but it wasnt destined to happen i guess...
anyhow great report ...i know that lebanese shawarma place in the food court...i always get food from there...but i have never for some reason seen Burj al Arab from the plane and i've always wanted to..take care ...

Good report, you seem to be using a lot of airlines on the route to LHR e.g. AF, BI, KL etc... which is your favourite (besides BA and EK). Also have you tried QR recently (sorry for the plug  Big grin)

Great report by the way, I miss you man!!!

QR's current A330 schedules:

- All of the LHR flights (QR don't switch down to the A300 to LHR)
- Morning DXB flights (QR do occasionally substitute A300's and vice versa to DXB)
- 2 of the 4 flights to MXP (which is going back to the A300)
- Manila from April 1
- As well as other destinations such as Paris and Shanghai from the summer.
