12 June 2003
TLS-ORY
AF
A321 F-GMZE
16:45-18:00
17:00-18:20

Had the possibility of being able to modify our reservation as much as we wanted and after four changes (!), we decided on the 16:45 shuttle flight to Orly. (We wanted to spend two days spotting in Toulouse, but after baking in 90 degree sun, no shade, and uncertainty about test flights of certain aircraft we decided to leave earlier.) We had noticed a couple of the flights had been cancelled earlier in the day, so we were not entirely surprised that our aircraft was an A321. Lucky us we had seats in the last row, 36. As we passed security towards our boarding area, we noticed our plane just arriving into the gate around 16:20. Clearly we were not going to be blocking off on the dot but it seemed as if everyone was working to get the plane back out as fast as possible. An A321 cannot be that easy to board that quickly though, it is a rather long aircraft! Actual bloc off was around 17:00 ... what is funny is that the aircraft that was supposed to do the 16:15 shuttle flight actually arrived AFTER ours! A short 50 minute flight up to ORY, we were on the blocks around 18:20. On the shuttle flights, there is only one cabin, so even for the A321, the number of flight attendants was also 5.

Nice short report.
I understand you wanted to take pictures of planes.
However, it is sad that Chris didn't use this day for showing you the city and its surroundings. (or maybe you already know the city)
Did you visit the Airbus factory?
Have you seen the coinstruction of the A380 assembly line? What is its status?

Teva:

when we arrived in TLS we did spend quite a bit of time in the city...
We didn't go visit the Airbus factory, although it would've been cool (probably much cooler in there temperature-wise)  Wink/being sarcastic it was still a fine trip down to Toulouse. I don't regret it at all, except my tan peeled off  Sad
I don't know much about the A380 assembly line, except that the place is freakin huge!! they have one large hangar assembly and then another smaller hangar, and then the flight line is under construction as well...I don't know what its status is...under construction!?

all in all it was very worth it...i enjoyed toulouse very much except for one thing - the heat..it wasn't that bad in the evening as the sun got lower, but it was real hot during the day!

Jonathan, tx for the update.
Usually, in June, it is not that hot.(My parents are 50 km away from TLS, and they told me that last week, temperature was close to 45 C !!!!
That is really too much.
But as you say, the evening is nice, especially at a cafe terrasse, with a fresh Ricard or a Pousse Rapiere...
